  1. The only problem is that there will hardly be enough graphical detail to tell when a character has a moustache...
  2. I have always had a penchant for autocratic government... It's not a poll, it's a petition. Duh. Oooh, now that would be cutting edge! P-E=T-I-T-I-O-N. Now what does that spell? Now don't waste your vote; sign the petition! Okay, now I think you guys are trolling me.
  3. I don't think that would make much sense, personally. There are probably more realistic ways to implement this, such as a deadly plague eventually killing everyone off.
  4. I suppose that's fine, but honestly if happy endings are just a form of pandering to hypersensitive individuals, must we include them at all?
  5. Let me preface my proposition by acknowledging that we're all attached to our familiar cliches and feel-good stories, but I feel that we as a community could possibly break new ground in Project Eternity. Without a doubt, this is the most mature gaming community I've seen to date, and there's one trope whose vice-grip I've never seen the fantasy RPG genre escape: the happy ending. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I think that- by introducing a couple simply unwinnable scenarios into the main plot-line (preferably in the form of encounters with scripted outcomes)- this game and this community can supersede that fragile and trite model. Winning all the time gets old, and the saddest endings are often the most moving. Do we really want Project Eternity to fall into that same trap of lameness, or do we want something unique? What would be particularly interesting is if the ending was a huge cliffhanger, thereby also creating incentive to buy a possible sequel. Join me in petitioning Obsidian for a different ending, suitable for a different kind of RPG.
  6. I like this idea- too many times, arrogant players just charge right into the most difficult dungeon at low levels (and some inferior RPGs have even accommodated this by leveling the dungeons), but I think the impossibility of winning these battles most exist within the game's combat model (so not just a cutscene leading to a party wipe), which means technically it would end up statistically being more like a scenario with .00001% chance of success.
  7. Why would I give more options about buying it when I'm not asking about that? I'm asking about whether people are interested.
  8. I agree, people demanding that Project Eternity cater to imaginary minorities should go to hell.
  9. Star Wars, noobs. This thread isn't titled "fantasy cliches", just "cliches", and anything in Star Wars practically becomes a cliche.
  10. I'd like there to be only one available romance option in Project Eternity, and for that individual to be revealed as my character's long-lost sibling at a dramatically appropriate time.
  11. I think it sounds like the game would be missing sandbox aspects. That's the spirit!
  12. Alcohol is considered a drug by anyone who know what the definition of a drug is. Irrelevant tidbit: I'm in the middle of writing a thesis on alcohol use in the eighteenth century British Navy.
  13. Honestly I don't think either of these has to be a huge problem. But if you want to say more about why you think they might be, please go ahead.
  14. Okay, now it just sounds like I've really upset you. For the record, I was simply curious to see if any people here could be "tricked" into admitting they'd like a Project Eternity MMO if I framed the question favorably. I'm sorry you feel so strongly, but I really think you might be trying harder than me right now.
  15. I think layered equipment is only really necessary on the torso (maybe legs too). I think this equipment system would be nice: Hat/Helm Necklace/Amulet Cuirass/Surcoat/Robe Shirt/Hauberk Vambraces/Bracers (paired) Gloves/Gauntlets (paired) or Rings Weapon Off Hand Greaves (paired) or Belt Pants/Chauses Boots/Shoes (paired) Quiver
