  2. That's true. And a lot of the careers personnel would probably just move to the new state. But this is all mental gymnastics imo. Nobody is going to incur a couple hundred million in costs to move a headquarters just to "recoup" 38M. That credit will quietly be slipped into next years budget and nobody will be the wiser.
  3. Jeez, tap the brakes, mad dog. If thousands of strangers losing their jobs brings you pleasure...well...I dunno. But hey, whos political side is "winning" is important. And who doubled down what? Delta thought they could score some cheap feels and they done f-ed up. Georgia legislature probably didn't know the number of users was only 13, Delta did, and tried to turn it into a PC coup.
  4. The mental image makes me lol. Delta probably figured they would score some points while impacting the least possible amount of people and then the whole thing blows up in their face like a Wile E. Coyote plan gone wrong. Somewhere, a Delta executive sits in the dark drinking bourbon straight.
  5. "Navy showers" have a hose with a nozzle that requires you to be pushing a button for water to discharge, kinda like a garden hose sprayer. With the sinks you press the plunger and the water runs for some predetermined time before shutting itself off. Toilets are salt water so they don't care about the usage of that.
  6. I would assume they have access to the same data as USA Today. These moves are made to make people have good feels, not as any actual rebuke. The hilarious part is that the GA legislature immediately withdrew a 38M fuel tax credit so now Delta is paying up for teaching those 13 people a lesson.

  8. Italy's voters choose populists, deliver stinging rebuke to Europe.
  9. Ive actually warmed to the idea of UHC over the last few years. Basically, from my perspective, it just a form of insurance like I have on my car, except for my body. And like car insurance, for the vast majority of the time you pay in, only getting a pay out if something goes sideways. Aside, I wonder what the numbers are for people who pay in their whole live and then have a massive coronary and are dead before they hit the ground (IE: never actually use any of the funds they paid in for their entire lives).
  10. Afaict, literally only life and death situations receive that urgency and that makes sense. For the vast majority of cases its "get in line, chump". I can certainly see the appeal in "free" medical care, hell I want "free" everything and to retire and spend my time day drinking and fishing. But lets not pretend its nirvana.
  11. Ah. Well I don't feel like retelling the entire conversation. Perhaps you can search it out and read it. You can probably zero in on it by searching my name and the term "holy moly". "Look, we cured his leprosy in one day! HUZZAH!" This must mean all the more common and populous ailments are equally solveable! *nodnod* See the conversation about Sweden and Spain(?). TN can probably hook you up with the links.
  12. Whew, bullet dodged? What about unrelenting back pain like was mentioned last time we talked about this? Still tough enough to wait? Its easy to cherry pick "we cured the dude of leprosy by immediately prescribing dapsone, rifampicin, and clofazimine" but you have to look at what the masses will use most frequently. Also, tv isn't RL.
  13. Until we make a quantum leap in battery technology, mobile robots are a pipe dream.

  16. Gah, youre absolutely right. Perhaps a scaled down version of Metal Storm that fires tasers? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKlnMwuCZso
  17. True dat! Don't even get me started on the exponential increase in risk of death that you face now that you are a licensed driver! A 1 in 102 chance!!!
  18. Why would you turn on the water? Is the mook also on fire?
  19. Oh snap, my brain is on fire today! You know how every public building is required by law to have fire suppression sprinklers? Now picture another sprinkler right next to the water sprinkler, but this sprinkler dispenses pepper spray! Mook enters hallway --> flood hallway with pepper spray. Man, I need to patent this stuff before someone ganks me like they did with my net shooting drone idea.
  20. I think I have a billion dollar idea...auto-taser turrets. Scene: A crazed gunman is observed on CCTV approaching or breaching the door to the school. An alarm is activated and all students and locked in the classrooms and ordered to shelter in place. Equipped with the finest FLIR and LIDAR, these turrets (with gatling style barrels for multiple shots) would drop from the ceiling of every hallway, autonomously go into search mode, and fire upon anything living until the all clear is sounded. Win / win!
  21. By "melee", do you mean melee? This is of vital importance. You've got the general idea of how the stats work. Iirc, one of the effects of armor type will be the "recovery time".
  22. Shall we halt all technological and scientific progress while we hide under the bed from the bogeyman?
