The Return of the son of The Comic Thread

They did kill Jan Grey and I thought she was pretty popular. But even if they do kill Mystique, no one, and I mean no one, stays dead for long in a marvel comicbook -
The Return of the son of The Comic Thread

First of all, the comic thread is not supposed to be necroposted. Once it dies down, you start a new one. Second, Im reading Wolverine's "Get Mystique" story arc, with some nervosity because from whats been going on in the X-titles lately, it seems they're setting Mystique up to be killed off. And I absolutely hate it when my favorite characters are killed, I stopped reading "Y The Last Man" because of that, and thats one of the best titles ever. STOP THE UNNESCESSARY VIOLENCE AGAINST female SUPERVILLAINS!! -
Me and mum were talking about politics and the US election today and in the middle of it I realised that we were discussing it as if we werent Swedes across the atlantic, but as if we actually had say in the matter. I know it will have consequences for the rest of the world, but if you read the news, your election is getting as much, if not more coverage than ours. Isnt that a bit silly? Personally, I blame the media for americanizing us to the degree that we subconsciously consider ourselves US citizens. Just look at whats on tv right now: the west wing, law&order, xena warrior princess, the xfiles, jay leno, conan, the Oz, V.I.P, and some weird american documentary about gambling... the only swede program on is the 24h news and theyre actually reporting on the us election

Well, Ive ben looking at TH's charts and if you compare the vanilla C2D "conroe" E6600 which is 2,4gHz to a Pentium 4 E "prescott" 3gHz C2D: 106 Pntium4: 49.8 Twice as fast and that is with the C2D using only a single core, as Quake4 does not support multithreading. Intel made one hell of a performance leap with the C2D

Well, the US is infinitely more useful to me than China, so the choice is obvious. In many other circumstances however, like in war, you have to apply cold logic and chose few over many.

Today, our producer wasnt at work. It was the best day ever, it was so quiet and calm and we got lots of stuff done -
No, you wouldnt. Clockspeed is a very inaccurate way to measure speed since what a CPU actually accomplishes during a clock cycle varies considerably. A single 2gHz C2D core is faster than a P4 3gHz. You could measure CPU power in FLOPS, but thats not accurate either since far from every process is about grinding floating point calculations. The best thing is to go to Tom's Hardware or similar and look at the benchmarking charts. If you want a gaming CPU, look at how it performs in gaming

Phhh, you programmers have it too easy. Even a suit whos never played a game in his life can have an opinion on wether your model looks good or not, but you programmers are just left alone to work in peace. I envy you. Me, I have to live with being checked on every 30min and getting "helpful" critique from everyone from satan to his grandmother. Also, no one listens to an artist. When I say that I dont think something is right, I get ignored, but if a programmer says that the same thing, people will listen and obey. It's like you possess the secret of the code, a power that cannot be understood outside the coven of programmers, but that must be obeyed by lead designer and producer alike -
Anyone tried Army of Two yet? I was expecting another K&L but its actually really good!

Well... THE FROGBOX IS IN!! Everyone loved it so much that we convinced the producer to allow me to make it. The animations are going to be cool as hell to do. Regarding personality, much of it is going to be in the behaviour and animations since the box will be quiet small. Not sure if its going to have a face or not -
Absolutely! Finer wines should in fact be drunk with only a glass of water on the side, so the taste isnt ruined. For the first glass atleast ...but red wine always makes me really hungry so I have to eat something with it.
-
Vinho Verde isnt really white wine, but its definently awesome. The best kind of non-red wine to go with food, any kind of food.
-
I grew up on Spanish and Portugese wine, so I really love that special earthy, bready taste they have. Strangely, Im not good at Spanish grapes. Second after that, to no surpise comes the french wines, full-bodied Pinot Noir or Merlot with my steak.. *drools* What I dislike the most is Shiraz and those disgustingly sweet Alsace white wines.

I like it too, I cant imagine why we cant have it in the game! Now yesterday was so straining that I couldnt bring myself to write about it. We spent the day in the Motion Capture studio, recording moves for our main character. But that's not as fun as it seems, not only did it rain so much on the way there that I had to remove my trousers and hang them to dry in the mug, but someone had forgotten to turn on the heat so it was only around 10C in the studio(its a huge concrete hangar where they used to repair tanks). I had to go to the bathroom every 20min to defrost my fingers, and the cold made the cameras/sensors(passive 12-camera IR system, calibrated to room temperature) all wonky so a lot of the captured data was garbage. -
Thankyou! But it is kind of small and kind of shabbily done. Couldnt you make it better?

Nightie: Vertex painting is ugly, thats why we dont like it. Slug: The only thing I cant post about is business related things really. Atleast so far. Friday 29th of February REJECTED IDEAS TIME!!! http://krotma.com/vid/frogbox.avi One of the enemies on our demo level is supposed to be some sort of creature residing inside a cardboard box, so I quickly doodles up a 3D model on what I saw. A froglike boxcreature that would leap around the level really awesomly. Except our producer described my idea as "something out of the nightmares of a mentally derranged person" and ordered me to stop it Hopefully, my other designs will make it into the game. 16:46 Talking HDR with the programmers, it looks like it would be easy to implement and as we have specular maps on almost everything, we could do some cool stuff with it. Shiny things, glowing things, and blooooooooom!! -
Your prince is much cooler than ours. Ours is a complete ponce whos biggest headline was about him and his friends smearing eachother with jam at sailing cam.

No, they're not. The PSP have no games and the DS only has kiddy games like Cooking Mama or boring puzzle games. The PS3 has the best hardware, but the 360 wins because it has the best games. The Wii is a second-rate console aimed at younger and casual players, so it's completely uninteresting.

Titan Quest producer rants on PC market.

What I reacted the strongest to in this was the following: This is a classic textbook case of how DRM's creates far more trouble than its worth. They paid good money for a protection system that probably lost them far more revenue than it "protected". The irony is just overwhelming -

Although the piracy scene on the Xbox 360 is now equal to or even procentually higher than the PC. Of all my friends, only one has a non-hacked 360, and that is largely because he's been too busy to flash it. You can go into the local computer store here(Expert- a huge retail chain) and ask "Which DVD's do I need to burn 360 games?" and theyll hand you a pack that works. -
I think that no nation should allow or recognise the forming of a new nation that is too small, or otherwise lacks the resources to be reasonably self-sufficient. Kosovo is a very poor country with around 70% unemployment that completely lacks any ability to sustain a stable economy. Kosovo may have the moral right to declare themselves independant, but they are mad to actually do it, because the consequences will be disastrous. I know its a pretty cold way to reason, but its true.

If vertex colouring is anything like vertex painting, then we wouldnt touch it with a two meter pole. We were thinking about using a vertex-thingie to blend textures on the ground, but we're going to use one huge map with incremental loading or whatever its actually called. -
What differance does it make if the Talibananas know theres a prince or two in Afghanistan? It's not like they printed his GPS coordinates

Thursday 28th of February Now we can render lightmaps for out textures, so they wont look like poop anymore. It took a week of trying to do it with mental ray, but we had to switch to using max built-in scanline renderer. Its not as pretty, but unnoticeable once its photoshopped together with the texture. But now this thingie doesnt work and I might have to redo an amazing highpoly thingie because its wonky. I show you in high-tech imagery below
