  1. Im not going to upgrade my system until the Geforce 8 system is released, which should, provided they keep their regular schedual, be released this autumn. Thats far from the first dual-card theyve released. There was a double 6800u available last summer aswell.
  2. Oh, we sure could have used something like this for our winter project ( Trying to create a 2D isometric adventure game using Flash is a BAD idea )
  3. Last post until lockdown! ) edit: Oh poo, I was so sure Wally would put the smackdown on this silliness.
  4. I found Crash to be much too sentimental and hollywoodised to deliver any real message. What could have been a thoughtful film became a standard hollywood clich
  5. And my personal experiences are the direct opposite; nVidia cards sailing in the breeze while ATI served bugs on a silver platter. So you cant really trust anyone
  6. RPG solution to real-life problems: PROBLEM: Youre at the airport, checkin closes in 5 minutes and you realise youve forgot your passport at home. SOLUTION: Force your way to the airplane, killing everyone and everything in your path. Then by the time youre in the c o c k p i t, you will have amassed enough EXP to raise your pilot skill so you can fly the plane yourself.
  7. It's all part of TOMBS, my lad. Some character classes have the "break into the thread to complain about a game you neither hated nor adored" trait. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. When I see an opportunity to complain arise, I go for it :D The latest FPS I bought was Red Orchestra and the only FPS Im looking forward to is Battlefield 2142.
  8. You mean if people like me who prefer nVidia, would stop buying AMD processors out of principle? :lol And I think GFX<->Motherboard is more relevant in terms of compatibility/optimisation than CPU<->GPU. Atleast for this generation.
  9. And they apparently got to play around quite a bit. If they had to break up the dragon into separate pieces to be able for the kind of machines OE runs on, then went far far beyond the kind of detail the engine could ever show with normalmaps Its te danger with programs like Zbrush, you get obsessed by the level of detail you can accomplish and so you get stuck in an eternal loop of "..just a little more, then its finished."
  10. Josh looks much bigger on TV than on the forums "
  11. Hl2 was an average FPS, nothing more. Why would I pay to experience more of it?
  12. We're makng an arcade game as his years final project. Unfortunantly, weve only had 5 weeks and about
  13. You dont buy a game, you purchase a LICENSE from the rights holder to use that game in the manner and conditions stated by the license agreement. The used games market is making tons of money from products someone else made and owns the rights to, without compensating them in any way. Is it strange that the publishers are displeased?
  14. The second-hand market means even more lost profit for the Developers and Publishers, than what is lost through piracy. So I can understand the logic behind a decision such as this. In fact, I think its strange they havent done anything about it sooner. After all, if you go and buy a used game, NOTHING of that will go back to the makers.
  15. This is kind of worrying and exciting at the same time. Obsidian could if ATARi goes completely over the edge, end up with a much better deal with a more sensible publisher, but they could also be looking at.. EA
  16. Wednesday next week... The new Star Wars Legacy series from Darkhorse Comics )
  17. Its about $27,920,000,000
  18. The way german/eastern european developers look at the CRPG genre, Id say its not strange that nothing worth playing has come from there. Things like: "Why would you want to create somerandom character yourself when you can play this cool guy with a big sword?!" and Ive met one IRL, so Im not completely out of my hat here.
  19. He's just playing like how my dog will fart and then jump up and pretend it was some strange animal attacking him from below the carpet. And watching a cat over the weekend for a friend was persuation enough never to get one of the filthy little buggers. Dog excrement smells bad sure, but cat poop/urine smell like you think your brain is going to dissolve...
  20. HDR isnt very well implemented in Oblivion, IMO so I have it disabled and go with some AA to ger rid of those nasty flickerings due to jagged edges
  21. Whats your favorite race? ) ..mine's mongoloid because it sounds cool.
  22. Its a shame the swindled guy just made the blogsite instead of doing something really creative with the data he discovered "
  23. But "movie psylocke" seem to have some sort of chameleon power rather that being a telepat? In the scene where they capture Warthington and his assistant
  24. I can understand why a certain level of secrecy is required, but the amount we have today is too much IMO. All of Josh's reasons are valid but they dont go anywhere near convincing me of the necessity to treat a game like its military intelligence. There was one thing dad couldnt tell me about which household chemical they used in a certain device because they hadnt patented it yet, but that was just once. The terms of the NDA the average game dev employee must sign is MUCH stricter than what he has signed as part of his employment contract. The people here at school I mentioned are forbidden from discussing any part of what they are doing with outsiders. They can say "Im working with something Im not allowed to talk about" but if they say "Im doing some programming on a thing im not allowed to talk about" then theyre violating the contract.
  25. I dont agree with you, people who doesnt know anything about how games are made wont care to read forums designer diaries anyway. And those who do, will most likely prefer to know WHY something was dropped or made it to release. My idea on how I would setup my forums if I ran a development studio would be to have the regular sections but also a "developers corner" area for people who really wanted to follow the dev process. Access to this section would be restricted to keep out the kids and trolls. Members would be able to ask the devs whats going on and Devs would be able to quickly get feedback from the fanbase. Coincidentally, I was the one who begged him to write that.
