If those 3 are back as companions then I already see the similarities between BG1 to BG2 and Pillars 1 to Pillars 2: In BG2 you start with 3 of your old companions Anyway, I'd like to see old characters back (if they tie well with the state I left them at Pillars 1 ending) but not as companions. I prefere new faces to travel along with me. I'd like to see these 3 familiar faces back, though, but as important npcs that are with you or in frequent interaction with you. Like Leliana was in Dragon Age Inquisition. IF the devs decide, though, to continue the Watcher story (meaning we play the same character) maybe then I'd like to see Eder, Palegina and Aloth as companions. Although I'd like to start anew.

A Big World
Sedrefilos replied to DexGames's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, I believe Pillars + White Marches is a pretty big game! As for the sequel, from what it's been teased to us, we believe it'll take palce in the Deadfire Archipelago and maybe the Vailian Republics (the former a copletely new location map-wise). -
Fallout Louisiana was just that: rumors. Someone saw some papers or whatever with the word "Lousiana" on them and assumed it was a new Fallout game then spread the word in the internet and... we all know how things work in there (here). But we had nothing to point us that such a project was underway. For Pillars 2, on the other hand, we had loads of hints. Devs talked about it, they teased it and so on.

2D backgrounds, as beautiful as they may be, they're always too static. Like pictures. 3D feel more alive. I'd like to see an upgrade to 3D for Pillars 2, but I won't complain if they stick to 2D because they want to throw everything in mechanics and roleplaying and release the game earlier - like 1 year earlier than it would take if they convert to a new engine.

I got my hands on the White March 1 & 2 at last (very good expansions, btw, especially the 2nd) and playing the game again after so long, something occured to me that I didn't notice (or didn't care for some reason?) at the first time: humanoid opponents behave like midless beasts when it comes to initiate combat. What I mean: I was walking around some military encampment, trying to find a way to slip in and a lonesome guard notices me an my party of 6 high level, heavily armed adventurers. What does th he do? Charges at us in melee and, naturally, dies in seconds. And I though "what an idiotic behavior!". I mean, shouldn't he run for assistance, trying to alarm the other guards that a group of dangerous looking strangers sneaking around? Of course he should. But the game treats all opponents as "monsters". As soon as green meets red, combat to the death occurs. I'd like to point this as a suggestion for the devs to consider implementing in the sequel. Humanoids should have a way to "measure" situtations. If enemy is way more powerful, maybe they should run, try calling for backup or -if there's nowere to go- have a fear debuff and a cornered buff, or somethings like that. Sorry in advance if this topic has already been discussed somewhere else.

How much PoE1 in the sequel?
Sedrefilos replied to evilcat's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I believe the devs have already made their minds about how the story in Pillars 2 goes. Maybe we should wait for the reveal and add our ideas after, based on what it's gonna be. -
I don't know what are the purpose of LuccA's posts other than mockery; in any case, I don't believe anyone here thinks the sequel will be out any time soon (pesonally I believe 1.5-2 years from now). That doesen't mean we don't want to know how the designers will approach the game early on. Yeah, we'll get our hype fix when they reveal it and they we'll probably go about our busyness until it's out. Maybe toss a few oppinions here and there if the game goes crowdfunding and the devs provide regular updates as they did with vanilla. As for masterpieces and if want it to be good, I doubt any1 wants to have a haf-assed game released sooner than needed just to quench their hype thirst; but, in any case, Pillars has a strong foundation - it's not that they'll have to do it all over again. This saves time.

The more back you go the more you find standard board game mechanics directly implemented in video games. Although board games and video games share common mechanics and are influencing one another, that dosen't mean one's mechanic will have the same effect on the other. Random encounters is one of those. The slower pace and higher encounter involvement that players experience in a board game does not exist in the same way in a video game. A random encounter, even if it is just a bunch of bandits ambushing the party is much more intense in a board game than in a fast-paced video game which will have, eventually, tens of similar encounters down the road in more meaningful paths.

Regarding these forums (I cannot know what is going on elsewere), twitter links have to do with information about Pillars and and anything relating to it; not personal stuff about the devs. I am also certain that the devs put these info out on twitter so to be shared, so I don't believe we interfere with their personal life - at least not more that they want. Personally, I follow some developers on twitter because I want to know stuff about their work. Some of them are very talkative and mostly tweet random stuff that I don't care about and don't even bother to read or follow their links etc. But if I see something interesting regarding Pillars, I will post it here. A much reasonable place to share, no?
