  1. O.O!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 2.7 GB file, I'm glad the documentary is a larger file then the 1.0.5 patch XD TY Obsidian!!!!
  2. That particular line of argument is flawed as it can be applied to all classes. I will agree that having resurrect as a class skill isn't anything special as the resurrect scroll requires a low amount of Lore and has a very large AoE. It's usually better for even the Paladin to use the scroll then THAN their own class ability in that regard. "It be mo' betta' use dat rez scroll, 'cuz Pally's class rez be no go. Fo' sho." - Fixed
  3. Honestly, I suspect that this was deliberate-- Obsidian wanted to make strong and interesting female characters, while avoiding the easy prurient route to audience appreciation. They decided on no romance, and they wanted to avoid tempting the audience into asking for it. So we get a devoted mother, a mystical maternal figure (if not literally a mother), and a warrior who has been raised with a somewhat genderless self-image.The allure of fantasy games is that we undertake quests and activities not possible in the "real" world--it's an alternate reality. So why clutter that up with a bunch of cartoon porn? It's one thing to slay imaginary monsters and evil-doers in fantasy RPGs, quite another to have cartoon-fantasy sexual activity in a game. There is enough of that on the Internet as it is... No need to foul up the game with that kind of thing, imo. I have no clue why people want this stuff in an RPG, and then want to fantasize even further and call it "romance." When Geralt visits a whore for some (hopefully) VD-free fun in the Witcher universe, what does that do for the person playing the game? Not much, actually. I guess it's okay if your game of choice is the Sims. I guess.Right. Let's remove friendship and rivalry as well. Let's remove companions' reactions to our actions altogether. Let's make all characters in the game devoid of personality, existing only as quest distributors and exposition vehicles. We can't possibly allow the player character to form any sort of bond with them, now can we? No, I have no clue why anyone would want that in their roleplaying game. Everyone knows RPGs are only about hacking and slashing your way through monster-infested dungeons. Human emotions are for dating sims and Bioware games. You say that, in I hope is sarcasm, yet I have friends that prefer their rpgs to be straight hack and slash dungeon crawls with as little "rp" as possible. It makes me shed a tear, a single perfect tear, on the inside everytime I hear something like that.
  4. Funny thing, I'm also building a story for a Death Godlike that was raised in Deadfire Archipelago. Her name is Scarlet! Also abandoned by her parents and forced to a life of crime before a certain event changed her life. I have not decided yet what was that event exactly. The difference is that she's a barbarian. Great story though, I really liked the Paladin twist. Scarlet & Crimson sound like they could've been BFFs XD or members of the same supervillain group, hehe. Ty for the compliment as well ^^
  5. Once I hit level cap I continue going on as normal since I've been enjoying the content for itself rather then a means to level. As for when I hit max level, I avoid the bounties and hit max level just as I reach the 2nd large city at the beginning of Act III.
  6. PoE's difficulty is low enough that the racials are not that important. Only when running PotD is accuracy really an issue. The racial power reinforces what the devs want the flavor of the race to be. Looking at it from the perspective of "what would this bring to the game and do I want the devs to address this over other things" I don't feel that removing/adjusting the racial bonus would enhance the game as I play it. That answer informs that I'd prefer the devs to spend time addressing other issues or work on new content. All in all it seems like a tempest in a teapot. My two cents.
  7. Doesn't seem like it. I was able to load a 1.0.4 save. Just load up your save file and do a quick save and see if you can load that. Only issue is if you save a game in 1.0.5 and try and load it in an earlier version of the game. As quoted below Please Note: Save games in 1.05 are not compatible with 1.04 or earlier versions. The game will automatically back up your save games in a special folder in the save game directory after converting the saves to the new format. Loading an older save in 1.0.5 is not an issue as I stated above.
  8. I'm sure there is a very good reason for this, but why can't you change portraits of companion characters along with all of the rest? I believe you can. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\art\gui\portraits\companion <- is the folder that has the companion portraits. I'm sure you could just switch them out with whatever portrait you'd rather prefer. I tried that a few weeks ago, and it refused to actually replace the portrait. I quadruple checked my process, and it just wasn't working. I can't figure out why it wasn't; it was as if the companions's portrait was embedded somewhere else (Calisca). My player character portrait changed without any trouble. But not Calisca. I just experimented with the other companions, the technique works on everyone else. Haven't tried Heodan, other then him it works for sure. It will even work for a game in progress.
  9. Crimson was born on a northern isle in the Deadfire Archipelago. A Death Godlike born to parents that tossed him out soon as his "gifted nature" became clear, he found himself friendless in an unforgiving land. By virtue (or vice) of his inner strength to take what he needed to survive from whoever crossed his path he fell in with a rough gang of highwaypersons (they were equal opportunity). As the years past and the boy who assumed the name of Crimson became a young man the screams and cries of his victims became to become louder in his dreams. The killing that was a part of the lifestyle became too much after the night that changed his life. He will never talk about what happened, but after that he hung up his sabres and swore never to take another life in the name of greed. He wandered and fell in with a group of paladins from the Kind Wayfarers. His mentor was a lady of Eothas who instructed him not just in protecting the travelers of the road, but also of redemption. Crimson was sick of his homeland and set forth on the road once he felt the confidence to proclaim himself a member of the Kind Wayfarers. Roads turned to boats as he traveled further and further north towards the Dyrwood. He had no particular plans in mind. It was simply another route to travel on to instill his brand of protection. The word of cheap land offered no temptation for a perpetual wanderer, but the word of persecution of fellow believers of Eothas was just the motivation to make this more then a quick travel through another nation of troubles. Perhaps he could finally find some troubles that would sooth his troubled soul in the eyes of Eothas, and himself.

  11. In the character creator, for the Priest class there is no space between the description of the gods and Favored Disposition. While with Paladins there is a space between the description of the paladin order and the Favored Disposition. The style that is used with the Paladin class is better for readability and should be adopted into the Priest class screens.
  12. Patch dl'd and installed, confirmed! :D Ty Obsidian!
  13. Well I sort of mentioned companions since I kind of rely on and built Durance as the mechanics guy. Though I did read respecs will come for companions in the beta patch notes so it shouldn't be an issue if they allow the same thing in an expansion. For chanter when leveling Kana I saw there were level 6 invocations as max when we only reached level 3 so I was imagining what else they could possibly make as summons in the future. Proper dragons should be a level 6 invocation. Considering Ogres & drakes are kinda late game monsters anyways dragons seem like the logical progression.

  15. I heard a rumor that it's coming out 11:59 PM pacific time (please everyone help spread this rumor I just started :D)
  16. Whoah whoah! Let's get Alpha Protocol 2 done first, then we can worry about pie in the sky ideas like a sci-fi rpg
  17. I do see if you try and finish all the content before you get Sagani how you could get that feeling. I tend to try and reach Defiance Bay early on so I've never had that feeling. But, if you do some levels of the Endless Paths, do the keep, the temple, etc then I can see the lack of female companion, up to that point, to be irksome.
  18. Spears are a perfectly acceptable alternative. I myself didn't use them all that much because I found that less enemies had crushing DR then piercing DR. In addition that spears are slower, as you mentioned. In combat encounters my monk would go from zero to ten wounds in a few seconds so the speed of which I could spam torment was more important then the additional accuracy. I did use the spears in the early part of the game where you can find some good spears while your fists haven't gotten their next upgrade. That's one of the really nice things about the Peasant group of weapons is that you have access to a versatile set that you can switch in and out as you feel is best for the situation.
  19. Rangers in a fantastic shape as is. Nothing really needs to get done with them past 1.05.
  20. I found that group composition & difficulty setting to be a stronger factor then what level you are. Also, when you get to around level 6 the difficulty drops and continues to drop till the end of the game. So if you want maximum difficulty with a full group try and skip as many side quests as possible.
  21. :D I'll be able to start my new run with a fresh 1.05 file!
  22. Liam Esler? He's the one that does the majority of the commentary in the Endless Paths, his title listed is "design intern" so if that's the name, then yes.
  23. If have no idea what people consider friendship if they don't consider it love. As far as the Greek term goes I've only heard of the these: AGAPE which is the complete giving of love to another person. Brotherly love. Love thy neighbor type of thing. PHILEO which is the affection, emotion, a fondness one person has for another. Friends, family, being treated as equals. STORGE which is the natural affection. Parent/child love. EROS which refers to love between a husband and wife. Sexual, passion. So I suppose the game could use a little philia and eros. I'd be happy with some eros, for only the passion. The Greeks didn't see the need/use of passion in the other forms of love.
  24. You gain a talent called "Gift from the Machine" that gives +1 might and 5% increase in maximum Endurance. I just checked on my Monk that has it.
