  1. Kyonhism, thanks for pointing me to this thread. I would like to add a couple things to what has been said so far: The "msaa" console command accepts values up to 16, not just 8; however, as we know, the setting isn't remembered across area transitions. The devs have acknowledged the issue and promised an anti-aliasing slider in the game's graphic options with the next patch, which will tangentially fix the area-transition issue. As of the latest build, the IE mod includes a console command called ForceAA that accepts values from 0 to 8 and is remembered across area transitions. A handy workaround while we wait for the slider. Playing at 2560x1440 msaa doesn't seem do anything at all. However, setting my screen's resolution to 1920x1080 does allow to see a noticeable difference between msaa settings (NOTE: msaa still doesn't apply to character models at character creation, level up, or in the inventory screen even at 1920x1080). To those who can't make msaa to work: What resolution are you playing at? nVidia DSR doesn't work with Pillars of Eternity (the Unity engine doesn't seem to support it). I'm not a fan of post-processing anti-alising (which include FXAA) because of the way it smears and blurs textures; the same applies to pure downsampling, unfortunately. SSAA would be my preferred choice but nVidia only allows it for transparency and, in the case of Pillars of Eternity, sb5 already showed it blurs backgrounds. Right now, I would settle for hardware-based 8X MSAA that actually works, applies to all screens, and is remembered across area transitions. Keeping my hopes up high for the patch Last but not least, to be fair it is not true that devs don't care about these issues. They are aware but there are several crit-path or otherwise game-breaking bugs that rightfully take precedence over beautification. They are working really hard on this game and I'm confident these issues will eventually be addressed
  2. Anti-aliasting doesn't seem to affect character models in the character creation, inventory, and level-up screens. TO REPRODUCE: Start a new game on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. At character creation, bring up the console and type "msaa 0" to disable anti-aliasing. Observe the edges of your character's model and how they are jagged. Bring up the console once again and type "msaa 16" to apply the heaviest form of anti-aliasing available. Observe how the edges of your character's model remain unchanged. The same steps can be reproduced when leveling up and while visualizing your inventory.
  3. Some UI elements appear very pixellated compared to the rest of the UI when upscaled to 2560x1440. TO REPRODUCE: Load the saved game attached on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. Select Kana. Observe how the Chant icon and the stave look very pixellated compared to any other UI element. Access the map. Observe how green selection circles on the map are very pixellated. Go outside and reach the edge of the map to bring up the travel interface (world map). Observe how the icon that marks the party's current whereabouts is very pixellated. SAVED GAME: link. (again, can't attach it for some reason.)
  4. Some VFX appear very pixellated compared to every other VFX in the game when playing at 2560x1440. TO REPRODUCE: Load the saved game attached on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. Walk east with your party, as though heading toward Caed Nua. Near the edge of the map, the protagonist will have a vision with two souls chained to slabs and tortured. When the souls disappear, observe how the VFX is very pixellated (even without zoom, though zooming in will of course make it more apparent). SAVED GAME: link (For some reason the forum won't let me attach it.)
  5. Some icons, particularly those of various headgear, appear very pixellated compared to all other icons when upscaled to play at a resolution of 2560x1440. TO REPRODUCE: Load the saved game attached on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. Access the inventory and compare the icons for the three pieces of headgear in the protagonist's inventory against all other item icons displayed. Further right-click on those three pieces of headgear to access their description and check out the icon on the top left corner. Observe how the icon appears very pixellated compared to all others. Saved game: link (for some reason the forum won't let me attach it).
  6. I've just tried deleting the old iemod folder and even restoring the original Assembly-Csharp.dll, then replace it with the modded one and placing the iemod folder there anew. The mod still remembered my settings and doesn't want to let me use ForceAA
  7. IE mod has blue selection circles for NPCs and green for party, as is the case in IE games. Blue selection circles are still in the game for color blind mode.
  8. Got the file; thanks a lot I can't seem to use the new ForceAA command, however: It gives me an error message that says the command doesn't actually exist. Is it normal the mod would remember my settings after replacing all its files?
  9. Could a kind soul download this from Nexus and send it my way? I keep getting the error message \ PM me for contact details. Thanks!
  10. Certain icons and UI elements scale worse than others, apparently. The Chanter's UI, for example, looks very pixellated at 2560x1440 ... same for most helmet icons.
  11. I think current in-game assets are 1920x1080 but you can play up to whatever resolution your monitor supports. Right now I set the game to run at 5120x2880 using nvidia DSR (that's basically 2560x1440 with SSAA 4X—the game is rendered at 5120x2880 and scaled down to 2560x1440 to fit my monitor's native resolution).
  12. Still unable to download even though the download count is going up; not sure what is wrong but I sure hope you guys can provide an alternative host like you did for the prior version
  13. Stupid question mode: ON. When I bring up the console and type "BB", then click on Karkarov's UI layouts, nothing happens. I guess I need to rename assets or something? What should I do to make it work?
  14. Guys, is it normal that the first option in the IE Mod tab reads (Redundant) and its description says it does nothing? I thought it was supposed to be "Disable Excessive Highlighting".
  15. Hi, I seem to have the same issue. I have backed at the $140 tier (plus various add-on) and I have a GoG.com Royal edition with the cloak, ring, and piglet but I don't seem to have the wurm for some reason (the installer only says "Kickstarter item"). Any idea why this could be?
  16. Since it's a console command, would it disable Steam Achievements? eg, some games on Steam using cheats/console etc. may disable Steam achievements. Not that I personally care about Achievements, but some do, so might be good to know? I honestly do not know. I think it does disable achievements (as in, you must first type "IRoll20s" and then use it) but only BMac would know for sure (he implemented this particular console command).
  17. Hi. This is a known issue that was reported in the backer beta as well. Hopefully it will get fixed in the first patch. Particularly the font should be always crisp at all resolutions in such a text-heavy game.
  18. It does! BMac implemented a console command that controls anti-aliasing. To use it, bring up the console and type msaa X where X is any number from 0 to 16.
  19. If anything, the release build will run smoother than the beta because of the CPU and GPU optimizations. Also, this game won't really benefit from more than 2 CPU cores unless this was surreptitiously changed very recently (which I doubt).
  20. I second this big time. Thank you very much Obsidian for all the hard work that went into developing PoE and fulfilling all pledge rewards! You have been great and much more communicative (and patient!) than any developer! I hope PoE sells a gazillion and you guys get to make the games you want to make for all ... Eternity! (I know Brandon's gonna hate me for this ).
