Anti-aliasting doesn't seem to affect character models in the character creation, inventory, and level-up screens. TO REPRODUCE: Start a new game on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. At character creation, bring up the console and type "msaa 0" to disable anti-aliasing. Observe the edges of your character's model and how they are jagged. Bring up the console once again and type "msaa 16" to apply the heaviest form of anti-aliasing available. Observe how the edges of your character's model remain unchanged. The same steps can be reproduced when leveling up and while visualizing your inventory.

Some UI elements appear very pixellated compared to the rest of the UI when upscaled to 2560x1440. TO REPRODUCE: Load the saved game attached on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. Select Kana. Observe how the Chant icon and the stave look very pixellated compared to any other UI element. Access the map. Observe how green selection circles on the map are very pixellated. Go outside and reach the edge of the map to bring up the travel interface (world map). Observe how the icon that marks the party's current whereabouts is very pixellated. SAVED GAME: link. (again, can't attach it for some reason.)

Some VFX appear very pixellated compared to every other VFX in the game when playing at 2560x1440. TO REPRODUCE: Load the saved game attached on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. Walk east with your party, as though heading toward Caed Nua. Near the edge of the map, the protagonist will have a vision with two souls chained to slabs and tortured. When the souls disappear, observe how the VFX is very pixellated (even without zoom, though zooming in will of course make it more apparent). SAVED GAME: link (For some reason the forum won't let me attach it.)

Some icons, particularly those of various headgear, appear very pixellated compared to all other icons when upscaled to play at a resolution of 2560x1440. TO REPRODUCE: Load the saved game attached on a PC whose monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440, and play at that resolution. Access the inventory and compare the icons for the three pieces of headgear in the protagonist's inventory against all other item icons displayed. Further right-click on those three pieces of headgear to access their description and check out the icon on the top left corner. Observe how the icon appears very pixellated compared to all others. Saved game: link (for some reason the forum won't let me attach it).

When will IE Mod be available for d/l?
AndreaColombo replied to Doxy's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
IE mod has blue selection circles for NPCs and green for party, as is the case in IE games. Blue selection circles are still in the game for color blind mode. -
UI Scaling - blurry font
AndreaColombo replied to Cirventhor's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Certain icons and UI elements scale worse than others, apparently. The Chanter's UI, for example, looks very pixellated at 2560x1440 ... same for most helmet icons. -
I think current in-game assets are 1920x1080 but you can play up to whatever resolution your monitor supports. Right now I set the game to run at 5120x2880 using nvidia DSR (that's basically 2560x1440 with SSAA 4X—the game is rendered at 5120x2880 and scaled down to 2560x1440 to fit my monitor's native resolution).

Since it's a console command, would it disable Steam Achievements? eg, some games on Steam using cheats/console etc. may disable Steam achievements. Not that I personally care about Achievements, but some do, so might be good to know? I honestly do not know. I think it does disable achievements (as in, you must first type "IRoll20s" and then use it) but only BMac would know for sure (he implemented this particular console command).

UI Scaling - blurry font
AndreaColombo replied to Cirventhor's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Hi. This is a known issue that was reported in the backer beta as well. Hopefully it will get fixed in the first patch. Particularly the font should be always crisp at all resolutions in such a text-heavy game. -
Pros & Cons - Steam vs GOG which will you pick and why?
AndreaColombo replied to wanderon's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
GoG hands down. No DRM, baby! -
Thank you Obsidian! :)
AndreaColombo replied to 00_Happy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I second this big time. Thank you very much Obsidian for all the hard work that went into developing PoE and fulfilling all pledge rewards! You have been great and much more communicative (and patient!) than any developer! I hope PoE sells a gazillion and you guys get to make the games you want to make for all ... Eternity! (I know Brandon's gonna hate me for this ). -
How come the novella also won't be there? I was hoping to read it over the weekend (no big deal, mind you—I'm just curious). To Obsidian: Congratulations on launching Pillars of Eternity, and many, many, endless thanks for bringing back isometric party-based cRPGs! Additional, countless thanks for managing our pledges and rewards—God knows how much work you must have put into that, and you got bashed more often than thanked for it. Kudos and love to you!

I am curious as to how the game looks/works on 4K monitors, particularly because of the high DPI. I would expect 3D models and real-time effects to look gorgeous, but maps to shrink a bunch (correct me if I'm wrong, but maps are rendered with 1920x1080 on a 24" screen in mind, which means 96 DPI—right? 4K on a 32" is about 140 DPI).
