I wonder what part of the spells wizards and druids have would have utility outside of combat. There is a treasure trove of potential there. The example spells I've seen, some I like, but many are boring. I'd love to see some more out of the box thinking in spells. I liked the spell that let you switch places with characters. But what about revealing hidden doors? Activating ancient runes? or a telekinesis or levitation spell? That wizards and druids can both cause conditions with their spells is interesting to mix with rogues, which may finally make wizards something I'd consider. So that's a plus. I'd love to learn more about (all) the classes outside of combat though. I feel that Obsidian could take more risks with their classes. And what about crafting your own tome with spells? or will players be limited to pre-made tomes and maybe one stolen spell? It's hard to make a final judgement without knowing more spells or how the classes function outside of combat, but from what I see it's a fairly tame transliteration of wizards and druids from other IPs

Gorramnit why do people say Frak? more on topic: I don't think there will be much asymmetry in how the classes play-out, if earlier debate is any indication.

Beggars I mind the least, It's the clipboards that I hate. I will continue giving to beggars when I can. Rehearsed backstory or no. Most here don't need to tell a story, the truth is better. @Mor: don't you think it's smart business for a beggar to pick a spot known to have many potential customers? If I was out on the streets, that sounds exactly like a spot where I might ensure my survival.

I'm not reading 10 pages. I've been called all these things as a child, it didn't stop me. I fully support encouraging girls and boys to ignore traditional gender roles, and to teach and empower either sex. I'm not sure if this campaign is the way to go, but I suppose it does call to attention the discrepancies still alive today. I do think the time is right for gender equality. I also think that the initiative is right in asking for more strong role-models for girls in roles that were traditionally associated with men.

I've built a time machine...where do you want to go?
JFSOCC replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
must I choose? can't I say "everything"? I'd like so see Persia during the Sassanid and Ghazvanid periods. I want to get my Arabian nights on. I'd like to see India during their golden age of the Gupta Empire, and I'd like to see it again during the Mughal Empire. I'd love to explore pre-Inca South America, visit the sun and moon temples in what is now Chile, see Machu Picchu during it's heyday I'd like to visit China during the Tang and Ming dynasties I'd love to see Pre-Christian Britain, Likewise I'd live to see the Viking river empire in eastern Europe which is memory serves was around the same time. I'd be remiss if I didn't want to see the seven wonders of the ancient world being built, including the hanging gardens and the pyramids. I'd like to see the ancient African empires, including the one in what is now Ethiopia with a stone city allegedly rivalling Rome. Visit Easter Island and the Hendersons before their societies collapsed. South Spain during the rule of the Muslims, visit Granada, Cordoba, and Valencia. Likewise I'd want to go across the Byzantine Empire around 600, right before most of it was lost. Italy during the renaissance. I'd like to learn the stretches of the Greek Empire before writing, there's some evidence suggesting it was vast. (So not ancient Greece, but Minoan and pre Minoan society.) I'd love to meet the Buddha (if he existed), Leonardo Da Vinci, my grandfather, my father when he was my age, Nietzsche, Bertrand Russell Charles Darwin during his voyage on the Beagle... oh man the list just goes on. -
Yes, 10,000 narrative words is worth around 75Kb, which is a decent-sized jpeg image.... so a picture is worth 10.000 words eh?

creativity, like everything else, requires practice. I heard about (anecdotal, I know, but it's been too long and I wouldn't be able to find it I think) a study showing that 90% of children under the age of 11 think of themselves as creative, and only 15% of all adults do. The implication is of course that somewhere in the intervening years, the creativity is killed by the school system or the community.

I really like the idea of having your quiver determine the quality of your arrows. Arrows don't change in quantity or quality, but your quiver will. And you could potentially upgrade your quiver with various effects. The cost of arrows wouldn't change, but the cost of the quiver would be on par with melee weapons of equal power. And you could make choices, do I want to have a quiver with twenty +1 arrows per encounter or the quiver which allows for 8 +2 arrows per encounter? (with all arrows over the limit being plain) Perhaps I want a decent quiver with the returning upgrade, providing a chance to recover any arrow that misses (or hits). etc. great idea! -
that's my thought. If you come home late and want to do something cathartic, play another game, and go back to PoE later.

Haven't played Stick of truth yet, I think I'll wait for the price to drop a bit before I buy it. Question of a different kind: Will we see Chris on these boards sometime? I know he does a ton of communicating via other channels but it'd be nice to be able to ask him questions on here as well? -
Man you have no idea.

still, best to catch those things early, no? -
I think it's an excellent idea to have all art assets available for modders. Having interiors and areas from T:ToN available for modders of PoE would fill a void created by the design choices of PoE, making it hard to create new areas. I'm sure creative use allows these art assets to be implemented by fans in ways respecting the setting despite the differences between the two games. I would be very pleased to see a large database of art assets modders could use and this is an excellent method of increasing the database not jsut for PoE but for T:Ton as well. The unaltered games would still each have their own assets with little to no overlap, so no-one needs to be worried to find the same area in both games.
