  1. I think its taken outta context. Not as in "omg this is badwrongfun" but maybe more like "other business dont go this route if u want to succeed because this isnt the norm". I see it as a friendly warning to business if its the second, but if its the first then yeah i totally agree..major douchbag Tbh i think whats really killing modern gaming is gamers getting older and not having the same amount of time to pour into games like they used to due to real life taking its tole and companies are designing with that in mind and the younger generation is getting used to that and so forth and so on.
  2. Long term licensing.....ceo saying "why not have both"... Yep a card game (not a collecting one) and a crpg in the works for the future... im at ease
  3. It doesnt right out say it and according to d&d faq on the OGL, its mainly the line that states u cannot add or force "permission or restriction" on the ogl content which most games make u accept an uael agreement to play the game. Its that agreement that is against the OGL, no making a video game but making players agree to restrictions and permissions and so forth. Which line is that? I don't see it. The main restriction is on Product Identity. I got words mixed up. Its the "no terms or conditions may be applied to the Open Game Content under this liscense". The D&D faq even had a question if u could make games usimg the d20 system and they answered yes and u had to include a bunch of stuff. The Cheif Technical Officer at paizo said the 2 things that the license does that makes it difficult to do a game even though ur allowed is A "no terms or conditions may be apied to the Open Game Content under this liscense" and basically every game almost makes u agree or has terms and conditions in the game or on the manual, and B. u have to have a file that spells out where all the content came from that u used from the d20 system and OGL (a document) in the game files that can be accessed.
  4. Wheres this update by chance? I cant seem to find it.

  6. Ok press release is tomorrow according to paizo.
  7. It's a year and a half old, but... The head people of Paizo have stated that even though they have goblinworks doing the mmo, they would love to do more video games, its just they were looking for the right developers and they said this May of last year.
  8. AFAIK they can't use the D20 system rules as its prohibited in the Open Gaming License; so the game would have to have its own rule system (presuming that they couldn't also license the D20 rules independent of the Pathfinder setting but that seems like a lot of rules...)Im getting a headache reading the OGL and all it engails, but im not seeing where it is prohibited. Granted i am seeing different things such as different types of d20 clauses i guess that state u have u refrence and say d&d books whereas some u do not. Like the erotica book they tried to stop but said company was able to publish under the OGL anyways just under a different section i guess...head is hurting with all technical mumbojumbo Edit-ok saw the link to pathfinder OGL, where does it say it cant be used in a video game, im not seeing it. Double edit-now i see what the problem is. Its not that d20 cant be used for video games, it can be, the problem lies in that no terms or agreements can be added to the ogl content and that u have to have a file that can be read by a human thag states where the ogl stuff came from. The terms and greement i think can still be added to the software itself, just not to the material in the game. Meaning u can agree not to misuse the software ofbthe game but the content of the game there are no terms that says u cannot use that material for something else. Etc etc. A bit weird and i can see why alot dont use it.
  9. I got wishes on Carrion Crown instead of Rise of Runelords
  10. I cried when i heard. Dunno why, im a grown man and dont usually cry but i teared up when i heard the news. I first heard of robin williams on tv by coming across one of his 70s standup comedys and for a troubled boy whos world was falling around him, Robin made me laugh and cry and be amazed. I watched his movies growing up just to see him. Seems stupid but at a young age he connected with me i guess in that i always tried no matter how old i got to be young and happy and caring. very sad day R.I.P Robin Williams, u were my favorite comedian by far and one of imho the most talentest. I will miss you.
  11. Yeah over at paizo.com and people talking about it over there. No official word but i think this type of mews might warrent its own thread. I am giddy like a lil girl which is good because ive been mopping all morning at the news of the death to my fav comedian.
  12. Please for the love of all that is holy, please do not be a fake!!
  13. Ahh actually ty because i was getting the other when searching. Tyvm
  14. Tyvm. I heard CoC has some victorian stuff in it after reading some after yals post but i need to find which version. But then again reading it it seems like CoC is about killing ur players and while i dont fudge rolls or hold back, i want a chance for the story to be told. Ill check out more about it and savage worlds and ripper and frankenstein. Thanks yal.
  15. Ok, i have an idea that i want to do. I had this idea this morning about being in the 1800s and players encountering mr hyde, springheeled jack, invisible man, etc and trying to trail jack the ripper and have it all tied together with science and occult and the Old god Yog-Sothoth. Maybe throw in some insanity checks or whatnot. Problem is i only know pathfinder and d&d. Im not at all familiar with other systems so i am asking for advice on what would be a good system to use? Ive always loved the old stories and movies of heros that were ordinary people and through knowledge and luck and creativity won against the bbeg that was clearly more powerful than them (dunwich horror, brans strokers dracula, etc etc). Anyone have any suggestions?
  16. Dammit i want a game in london in the 1800s and we encounter alot of real life legends (jack the ripper) and fantasy legends (dr hyde, spring heeled jack, etc) and all to find out they are manifistations of tiny bubbles of madness seeping through because cultists are....wait for it.....trying to awaken Cthuhlu!! Or better they could all be spawns of Yog-Sothoth and an evil cult is trying to breed more abominations for their Old god. Even throw in the atmosphere of the industrial age (or whatever its called...i havent had my coffee yet dont judge me!!!). Damn im imagining a vision of business men and nobles with powdered pistols and swords in a era when everythings pushing towards industry and all mired with occult and abominations and old gods....what a sight. Screw cthulhu, the game industry needs to behold Yog-Sothoth!! Yes i want to see them do something with Cthulhu or even better Yog-Sothoth. Damn now i want to do this in a table top game, mmm i wonder which system be best for it..need coffee....brew faster dammit!
  17. Beware what u ask for..... i have a mental image of Mr. A sighing and being frustrated and angry that he gives in and writes a romance outta spite. One so dreary, dark, unlustful, drab, boring, and so bad that it sends the promancers runnimg and screaming for the hills, to never again ask or beg for another romance from obsidian. Or u know point out the romances they have done so far with alpha protocol and whatnot. I could soook see Mr. A do this chuckling and laughing to himself
  18. Look to Morrowind if u want to see good writing and characters and culture and lore and etc.
  19. Tbh if its a sequal to a game, i want it the same with added features. Meaning i expected to see the same control features from da:o in da2...i didnt. I do expect different controls and etc in non sequals such as between da:o and baldurs gate. Bethesda does something that i hate is that they chop away their system. Each game its like they are trying to create a painting with the same style but with less paint and materials. Morrowind struck a nice cord in how their system played though it had faults, it did have some very nice gems. And bethesda HAS made a good rpg and its the one i listed. Very nice atmosphere and u can actual feel the culture as ur playing not to mention the villian (misunderstood hero) and good guys (depraved power hungry back stabbing villians) arc going on.
  20. Mmmm something simple. Have it give an option for who u bring with u to certain locations such as bar/brothel/show/festival/etc and have a random dice roll in back ground. Example-visiting a bar, 25 to 75% nothing happens besides yal drank some. 25% or lower bar fight broke out, 75% or higher and u got drinks for free. (This of course is bare bones but run with me).
  21. Im extremely happy with the game graphics. Was much better than i expected to see.
  22. While traversing Ancient haunted crypts filled with Flesh rotting Ghasts? (Ie. the example of mine that you're attempting to counter)? Aaah. No they don't. Except maybe in poorly written Bioware fantasies. This I do agree with. However, this is exactly what Bioware romances is not. They are contrived and feels out of place. They aren't integrated into the storyline. They feel like a stalker mini-game, artificially added to the game. The Morrigan romance in DA:O was well written and was a natural part of the game. Zevran was amusing when I played as a female warden. All the rest of the "romances" in DA:O, in Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, not to mention the travesty of a game that was DA2, made my toes cringe. So if Josh Sawyer want to make something better than that, I applaud it. And if it's between the typical Bioware romance and no romance, I'll take the no romance option any day. You guys have made me think about another Romance arc that will add to the realism of a Romance implementation The basis of this Romance idea is you can't Romance someone if they haven't been in your party a while because how would feelings develop realistically if they haven't developed over time, so for example if you keep changing party characters it would be hard to build Romance with new members But to add to this your chance of Romance would increase if the party faces certain epic challengers together. So take Firkraag, at the end of the battle when the party is recovering and resting in a Tavern or around a campfire someone that you have been particularly friendly with through previous dialog choices, like Viconia, would initiate a discussion with comments like "facing that Dragon made me realize what is important to me...life is too short to not be happy " ( obviously I'm not a writer so this is just an example ) , but the point is the Romance only starts if she is in the party a while and you have faced certain death before I believe this would make the Romance less contrived and definitely more believable. And this seems to be one of the issues people have with Romance, previous implementations are just not believable? I know this is an old post but i do like the idea and think its a step in the right direction of the perwon having to be in ur party for awhile before romance can even begin etc. have it set up like arcades quest in fonv but have it only proc after an event happens instead of just visiting an area. Also u could add respect values so that u could "earn" respect from party members and could through same actions for both camps so that they cpukd earn respect (comradery) and same token IF they CHOSE form a romance with said party member. the romance of course has its own setup which i dont think needs to be explained but the respect...earn enough respect and someone who has a strong view point on something will eventually respect u enough to "agree to disagree" and remain on good terms or stick up for u if getting bashed by a party member due to ur choice going against their views. You know instead of asking FOR romance to be implemented, i think we shoukd come up with ways HOW romance could be implemented.
  23. I honestly believe DA2 woulda gotten alot of praise and nowhere near the backlash....if it was a new ip. Being the "sequal" to origins....its deserved.
  24. Ur comparing a game thats chapter 1 and not a full story with games that are stands alone themselves. Fo1 (vault dweller), FO2 (chosen one), super mario 1&2 all tell a story and finishes that story in the same game. FO3 isnt a part 2 of the vault dweller and his adventures, but a stand alone adventure of the lone wanderer. mass effect 1 is not a stand alone game and is basically part 1 (incomplete story and continues thru 2 and finishes with 3...maybe until the gravey train hits again) and to finish shepherds story u have to slog thru game 2 and 3. Hope that clears it up. They are saying they cant stand part 1 anymore because they know its an incomplete story and to finish it they have to go thru ME 2&3 which they cant/dont wanna do anymore.
  25. Ok seeing how Josh loves history and has stated his love for history quite a bit.....could a Call of Cthulhu be outta the question?
