  1. I'm thinking they are just concept art to be honest (and storyline npcs at a push?). The kickstarter isn't over yet so I don't think Chris has even started writing the companions, and I would imagine he would need to create the character before they can be drawn. Drawing the character and then writing it's backstorys seems a bit backwards.
  2. Have they actually said anywhere at any point that these charecters in the concept art are companions. I keep seeing people posting that on various forums, is it just assumption on their parts?
  3. I think you should have a bit more faith in Obsidian, they will do it tastefully.
  4. By the second or third game maybe, it's a bit earlier to be slaying divine powers.
  5. Your work isnt bad at all Justin and I would be interested in seeing what you can do with the games score. To be honest though I would need to hear your take on the games main theme to really make my mind up. no presure or anything
  6. Seriously need more detail before I can make my mind up about this, its all rather cryptic,
  7. This isnt an MMO title nor should it emulate one, mentions of cooldowns are bad enough but this would render any challegen related to different enemy types meaningless.
  8. Monsters and enemy npcs should be more or less challenging based on what or who they are, not what level you are. If I wander into a mind flayer city or a greater liches tomb at level 1 I should get my ass handed to me, not be pandered to. Imagine wandering into Firkraag's lair early at a lower level and fighting sewer rats and the dragon battle music kicking in only for the end boss to be a sprite dragon. Its just damned lazy design. Likewise my kickass adventuring company should be able to point and laugh at low level bandits and goblins as I slaughter them. Infinitrons post is the only example of any type of level scaling I would like to see in any RPG, never mind one touting itself as a return to the good old days.
  9. Please Obsidian, for the love of all thats holy listen to this post.
  10. Unfortunately this is a symptom of a clear lack of detail on Obsidians part. If they would come out and tell us at least in general terms what they are are going to make the combat like then there would be no overreactions. People would either back the project or not. All we are getting is comments on the kickstarter comments section from Feargus. If they dont know what they are doing yet, then I'm sorry but maybe they launched the kickstarter too soon.
  11. That doesnt make any sense, Brian Fargo announced Chris Avellone half way through his kickstarter. I cant see any reason why Obsidian cant do the same.
  12. I'm rather disapointed that todays announcement wasnt George. Please Obsidian get him involved.
  13. Filler quests are fine in smaller proportions, make the fluff behind them interesting and its all good. You cant change the world with every bandit scalp collected.
  14. KotC used the d&d sorcerer rules for casting. For the record if there has to be a compromise I see having spell charges ala Sorcerers as far more appealing then a mana pool mechanic.
  15. Thank you very much Justin, will have a listen. Myself and this is just a personal opinion I like what was done in Torment and Baldurs Gate. Theres a melody from the main theme and or battle music that features in various pieces in different ways. Thats not to say there arent unique pieces in those sound tracks as well, but I like the idea of a tune being threaded through the entire game.
  16. Vancian all the way please, I've yet to see a mana based system i've liked in a CRPG.
  17. Voices should be cast based on what the audio casting director wants and feels fits the charecter. This isnt Baldurs Gate, and good god Imoen was annoying. O_o
  18. I voted yes in a jokingly manner, what I would like to see is a tempory party member dog as more of a homage to past games. No to a full timer though, cause lets face it a dog wouldnt last long against a dragon.
  19. I sincerely hope they get George Ziets involved in this project, he would fit in brilliantly.
  20. Whoever Obsidian choose is fine. Justin do you have any other music or samples of your work we can listen to though? I cant find any on the interwebs.
  21. I'm rather pleased to see the high percentage of over 25 year olds.
  22. I think Asia is a lost cause, however i see a lot of russians streaming and playing crpgs. So thats a potential market for another translation and marketing campaign sure.
  23. Gold weighing anything can easily be handwaved in a fantasty setting. This is a CRPG, i should be actively encourage to be filthy rich from all my dungeon plundering.
  24. Multiplayer isnt needed in a CRPG and it detracts from development and bug testing. so hell no. Anything else however is fair game.
