  1. I'm stealing this shamelessly from RPG Codex and I dont care, because people who have never heard of George Ziets need to read this This guy is creative as all hell and hes interested in breaking the mold, hes perfect for this game.
  2. If you are concerned about more story stretchgoals George Ziets has you covered. He helped create the only experience that has come close to the Infinity engine games in recent times, and he did it as an expansion pack. Imagine what he can do with this dream team and a full game with likely expansion packs and sequels? This is some awsome stuff right here.
  3. Well i'm one of the folks who wouldnt shut up about George Ziets, Guess i get my wish and i'm rather pleased at the moment. Fingers crossed we reach that stretch goal, but fingers crossed even more that George stays at Obsidian after Project Eternity. Loosing him again would just suck so bad :/
  4. I think you can count on Obsidian to feature at least some of this type of content, they have done so many times already.
  5. For the last time, the expansion is going to be made with money/profits from actual sales of Project Eternity. They are giving access to the expansion at higher pledge tiers as a THANKYOU. You are not buying it, and the kickstater is not funding it. Clear?
  6. You can change your kickstarter name yourself in your profile options
  7. Any money donated to this kickstarter benefits the game, the expansion will be funded from profits and Obsidians own money. Facebook likes generate publicity for the project and in turn get us a better game. They havent gone too far at all. Keep rolling your eyes if it makes you feel better though.
  8. The best way to think about stretch goals is that they are mostly to garner more interest in the project, adding two classes to the game for example wont actually cost $100k. The more money that is invested in this game, we will get a better highly polished product at the end of it.
  9. I'm fairly confident we can do this now, we're at over 11k already.
  10. Ok just to hopefully calm matters down, this is an expansion pack not DLC. I realise expansion packs arent released much anymore these days, but they are not content short changed from the main game and held back. Usually it's an independant post main plot story.
  11. Expansion pack needs to be included as an add on option. I cant justify increasing my pledge that much since i already backed Wasteland 2.
  12. I dont really mind either way but I suppose it could make for "mature" storylines
  13. Hey Folks, I just pledged 8 more dollars in addition to my $80 already pledged. Henceforth I would like to be known as Vorpal Bunny of the Obsidian Order.
  14. Anyone who hasnt played Arcanum go do so now. Tis amazing.
  15. It's Feargus standing at the top of the mountain, throwing off the Paladin class before anyone gets the chance to play it.
  16. I don't get this attitude of "well, I don't like this, therefore nobody should be able to have this". There is no written rule that says you can't play after the end of the story, for many reasons: 1) Not everyone is going to 100% a playthrough on their first go. Giving them the option to continue to work towards that goal, while introducing endgame content, works a lot better (in most cases) than telling them to start all over again (with marginal benefits and the same content) and telling them to do the same thing over again. 2) Games of several different genres (RPG's/action games) have proven that endgame content can greatly extend the life of the game, and give it compatibility with mods. For example, in Batman: Arkham City, the in-game enemy chatter and menu screen changes to reflect that you've beaten the game. If you haven't completed certain sidequests, there are small changes to the dialogue and encounters to reflect whether you had beaten the campaign or not. Fallout 2 has already been mentioned, and if I'm not mistaken, BGII (without ToB, which you automatically jump into afterwards if it's installed) allowed you to continue playing after beating Irenicus. 3) Obsidian has already stated that they intend PE to be an ongoing franchise. It makes little sense to artificially restrict the story with a hard ending when they've also gone on record as saying mod support will be open. You can bet that new fan-generated content would be greatly beneficial to the game, especially if it inspires people to go back to completed games. 4) There's nothing saying you can't do both an NG+ and post-endgame content. Mass Effect 2 gave you extra conversations from all your squadmates when you beat the game, allowed you to do the remaining missions, and also gave you bonuses if you did an NG+. 1) This is easily sorted out if you make the point of no return blatently clear. 2) I have played these titles, Batman never really gave you a great Storyline reason for still being on the Island after the final boss, you are just sort of there. Fallout 2 was more of an easteregg then a true post game experience. And I cant recall still being able to play after beating Irenicus, you were sucked down into hell to fight him. 3) Plenty of people managed to mod the IE games despite their "Hard endings" Fan generated content gives you a reason to play the whole game again with a new twist. 4) Mass Effect 2's post game was shallow and lazy in the extreme, Barely anything changed. The only reason it was like that in the first place was so Bioware could peddle DLC. If Obsidian want to put a post game experience in, fair enough its not going to drive me away. But Infinity Engine games were driven along by the main plotline more than anything else. There would need to be a compeling reason for you to still be wandering around killing rats in basements and delivering stuff to people after you have finished the story.
  17. How about we compromise and have this as an option that you can switch on and off? Sounds very Wastelandish which is all well and good, but not everyone who liked the Infinity Engine games even played Wasteland. I like it, but others may find it jarring.
  18. I dont usually bump topics, but I want people to see this.
  19. Fingers crossed George is mentioned in todays update
  20. This isnt a Todd Howard project, as such there will be a story and an ending. When the credits roll the game is over, i could possibly see myself supporting new game plus if its done well. But playing after the credits is openworld sandbox jingo, it has no place in an IE inspired game.
  21. You have weird logic, just because we can create a custom party it doesnt the mean normal companions wont be unique. How exactly is having more options going to spoil your experience? Have you ever known Obsidian make generic companions ?
