Godlikes won't do for the Temple of Woedica Quest, unless you've built a character that can deal with all the enemies in the room (They can't wear helmets) So I'm either going to go run around and do side-quests and maybe get strong enough to deal with it (My character is only Level 4 and 1/2, it is also Path of the Damned, Expert, no Trial of Iron) or start over from the beginning with a non-Godlike *sigh*: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6sjr63kmsmz0rai/2015-04-05_00010.jpg?dl=0 Some "pacifier" (As little combat as possible) stuff: - 5 Stealth needed to get into Raedric's Hold (climbing up on the rampant, sneak past 1 guard, get into the temple floor where there are Berathite robes). - You're still going to need to get down to the dungeons, but the enemies are fairly easy there. Only one place where they are a group (But if you play a Rogue, you should be Level 4, at least, and can Shadow Beyond that group). - Kolsc's group Solo isn't much better than Raedric by the way... but at least if you go with Raedric no one will be hostile and you can loot everything I couldn't deal with him... maybe I'll return later and try it *shrug* I went back and forth A LOT between the first 5-6 areas. Taking out 1 enemy (for that very minor experience, but in bulk it became maybe 500-600 experience, if not more), then going to another area. Then taking out another enemy type etc. it was the only way I could do it to get to Level 4 with my character. Doing one quest objective in a specific order, then returning to town. Caed Nua, you can cheese and pull some wisps to Kana, and Kana will help you beat them. Otherwise just hug the southern wall all the way to the edge. Then, at the Main Keep, you can sneak past the Spectre's and Shadows without even fighting them, to the left side behind a table. When the dialogue starts, tab out of the game and then tab into the game (the dialogue breaks stealth, but if you tab out, the game will auto-pause, and when the dialogue is done you can press Alt or Scout Mode and combat won't start). You can sneak past all of the Spiders in the dungeon/prison with Stealth 5 as well. When you've dealt with Maerwald, all of the Spectre's and Shadows will be gone from the Stronghold outdoors, main keep and the immediate grounds (Door bugged for me, so I had to run through the Endless Paths Level 1 to use the hatch exit haha). EDIT: I have no idea how that guy can have 55 hours game time (Less time than it took for me to finish the game once on Hard ) and having played the game 2 times already, according to his other thread here, both with an Easy Party and a PotD Triple Crown run o.o (must've been crit-path only to get the achievement). Commendable. Good job http://steamcommunity.com/id/folsomdsf/stats/291650/achievements/

Unopenable Door in Raedric's Hold Dungeon
Osvir replied to redbird's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
(I only saw the responses on Page 1) I had some issues with the bedroom door as well, but managed to get it open. The door down the hallway however, couldn't open it and there was like a pathing block. Save files: Hallway (Keep) Dungeon Screenshots: Hallway (See through) Dungeon (from Kitchen) EDIT/An extra: I also noticed on my way out from Raedric's Hold something odd with the sound on the carpet~ inconsistency. Nothing major (Accessible through both those saves). Screenshot -
So, the plot.

@Aquinas: Agreed. I'm not confused much about the plot in the game, I'm simply spinning deeper and further, "What are the Gods?" philosophically, in some form of psuedo-physicality. The Engwithans sacrificed their souls to create the Gods... and I'm thinking scientifically about.... energy. To give is to take, and to take is to give. Put a log on a fire, and it radiates heat, but the log is burnt up in time, and when it has been burnt up, there is no more heat. What are the Gods? Are they the souls of Engwithans, trapped in Adra, programmed to fulfill some form of ideals? Because they can communicate, where does this "force" or "energy" come from? The Adra Dragon at the bottom of the Endless Path's says that He/She feeds on souls in the Titan... is that not what the Gods do as well, and, when you "guide" the souls through a God, don't you pretty much "feed" those souls to that God, in some way? If we look at that as some sort of analogy... consider the Titan being "The World" and the Adra Dragon being a God (for those souls). You see my point? Does the Adra Dragon have the option to return the souls to the Titan, and then recycle them, or can He/She only feed on the souls without returning them? In the same way, Thaos is not only doing Woedica's bidding by obscuring animancy and the truth about the Gods, he is also attempting to feed "her" a large amount of souls, just like *gasp* we are doing when we pick a choice! which makes me wonder... are we not simply just doing the Gods bidding too when we decide who or what to "follow"? It makes me wonder if Eora is simply a "Titan", and the Gods are actually looking in, from outside through the macro-cosmos, and everything that goes on inside of Eora is the micro-cosmos. *gasp* Is the Player one of the Gods, looking in? my thoughts take me back to one of Jaheira's comments when you click her to move: "Yes, oh, omnipresent authority figure?" Yes, I'm spinning deep. -

Nothing really suggests that. In fact, the game is pretty open about the idea that souls go to the Wheel and back again without the gods, and that is the default state of the world. The only way the gods get anything out of it is if machines (built and operated by people) trap and feed souls to them, quite contrary to the natural order of the world. The comparison with Od Nua is apt however, because the basic character of the Engwithans seemed to be a fundamental inability to accept reality, and to break it, and sacrifice everyone around them until the world is forced to conform to their selfish desires. Nothing is forbidden, as long as the universe obeys. I view it more or less as if the Wheel is the natural order of things, as you say, but that when "Man" traps the souls in the machines, they gain some control where to guide the souls and can then give X God more power of the Wheel or the universe, i.e. guide the fate of the world. Or, in this case, guide the fate of the souls in Dyrwood (Where these machines are placed). I.E. "The Hollowing of Dyrwood". Not "The Hollowing of Eora" In the natural order of things, the Gods have no control, the souls simply slip through or past them like a flowing river. But through the machines they can get more control and more power. The machines halt the progress of going in and out, a checkpoint of some kind, stopping souls from going about doing what they do in the natural order of things, a sluice gate. You get the option to sluice the souls through a specific god, or whatever it is you can opt for. I was speaking that in theory that Thaos and the MC (the Watcher) both show that they have aspects of all Gods within them. So does Durance, Eder, Aloth, Sagani and so on, albeit in an obscure fashion. Several NPC's shows that they have traits of various Gods and not just one God. If comparing with "Chakra Points" or whatever, the souls passing through the Wheel could be viewed as the souls going through all the points, but with our choice, all souls would only or mostly go through a single point. -
Suggestion: Delete Notes

"Supposed" really? I might've missed that. I don't remember Obsidian ever addressing that in a comment or in an update whatsoever. But yeah, I asked for it too, some better editting and better formating (allowing us to press enter to create a new line instead of a new entry, for instance). There's no similar way as the double-clicking and delete method? (E.g. shift+enter or Arrow key down to create a new line instead of a new entry?). -
But, are you really saving the world? Or simply "guiding" it in one or the other way? Deciding upon its fate, rather than "saving" it. You don't save it from "destruction", per say, you simply choose to pick a flavor... it doesn't blow up does it, if you fail? And regardless, you can continue the path that Thaos sought from the very beginning, regardless if you feel tricked by it or not... does it destroy the world, or simply point it in a set direction? The world doesn't end. It is merely a shift in the balance of power, who holds the most of it, and who gets to influence most of it. Though, I suppose, depending on who your character is in your roleplay, and what you perceive as "saving" the world really is. Saving the denizens of the Dyrwood... or saving yourself?

I think that... all souls are guided by the Gods. All of them. Into the ether, and then out of it, back into the living flesh. It reminds me of gnostic teachings (or is it agnostic?), somewhat. All souls are washed in the Wheel, before returning to "life". Does the Wheel not have the power to influence Souls that pass through? In that respect... every action the Player takes, every action that Thaos takes, and every being in Eora, is in some way guided by the Gods. Magran's teachings is that of Trials, and Thaos surely struggles through his trials... for thousands of years. He lives in the shadows, in the mystery of Wael. He is deceitful, lying and backstabbing, not unlike the disciples of Skaen. And he is creative, very creative, and even Hylea praises Pallegina's rage and love for war as a "beauty" that she loves dearly. Is Thaos not creative in his machinations, his forging of his plans, his teachings to his Leaden Key? An aspect of Abydon perhaps? And is he not on the hunt, in favor of Galawain, for his price of Justice granted to him by Woedica? If I am not entirely mistaken... isn't Thaos Soul an Awakened Soul from the time of the Engwithans? Was he not one of the creators of the Gods himself? Does not Thaos die, and rebirth, time and time again through the Wheel, greeting Berath time and time again, and then returning back to life through Eothas? And in our final confrontation with Thaos (or, at least in my playthrough) it seemed as if I was trying to convince him of something, something he seemed to have forgotten, something that he perhaps had lost? An aspect of Ondra. And finally, we as we slay him Thaos, Rymgrand comes to greet him and we can choose to fulfill it, or do all kinds of things with his Soul. All of it a device to present to Thaos a massive amount of bad luck, or, in fact that we manage to get to take a shortcut, and to get down before him, by gaining the favor of the Gods. Are not the Gods of Eora simply... well... aspects of entities in the world? And each entity, being, creature, man, Orlan, Elf, Aumaua or Godlike, hold various amount of each aspect? Even Durance, a Priest of Magran, withholds his secrets, his mysteries, yet hypocritically (time and time again) blame us to be servants of Wael? -

First thought: Move this thread to Stories and Spoilers? Second thought: -
@Nukein: You also have Notes in your Journal. So you can write notes where you can go. If you get into a stump, just Note "Will return to this place later". If you turn on dead ends everywhere, then you'll have to restart, make a new build, try again. EDIT: @revjwh: You want a challenge, you have it. If you don't want a challenge, maybe you're shouldn't try Solo? Save the game often, try different paths if you end up at one road that is a dead end (you can always return later). And if you dislike it, make a new character and start over. Or, make a duo-team, of 2-4 characters. Because you want to summon an "animat" or whatever, why not just make a second adventurer instead? And if you truly are hunting for that Solo Achievement, play on Easy, that'll be easier to and less of a challenge (as compared to, say, Hard). The Chanter can summon skeletons, try that instead?

Test 2: Anyone interested in doing a joint Solo, intelligence run? Gathering data/research and ideas of how to conquer Solo? I was thinking Path of the Damned with Expert Mode, that way you can save your progress. Test, for instance, a Level 2 Class against the Bears in the beginning, then reload if it doesn't work and then return later, and then we can take screenshots and chat about it "That doesn't work, but this does" etc. Builds, No-Combat Dialogue Choices, Backgrounds, Classes and so on. EDIT: Using items, potions & scrolls, are not min/maxing. Min/Max is when you put all your stats, talents, abilities and so on after a most optimal build where you pretty much lose +/- 0 in efficiency. A min/max build would be able to win everything by timing everything each second. Min/Max-gaming is not much different from Meta-gaming. You can still roleplay as a Solo character, but you're not going to be as efficient if you neglect some of the game mechanics (In a full party of 6, I never used scrolls or potions, but as a Solo character, when I've tried, I use it much more frequently, because I need to. The world becomes harsher, more dangerous, and requires ALL assets that exist within it). That's why a Solo play is almost more roleplay, because you actually use all the tools and trinkets that exist in the world. Whilst you more or less steamroll with a full party, and neglect most of those "extras".

"IE Mod Pillars of Eternity" <- Copy it into google or "Firedorn Pillars of Eternity Mod" A Mod by Backers, for Pillars of Eternity. There you have your "Justice". Backer wrote Firedorn, Backer re-wrote Firedorn, Backers re-introduced original Firedorn. I don't feel there's anymore to say or add. Have fun. I'm going to jump into the latest patch now -

Walking Toggle Please

Times have changed greatly since Baldur's Gate. I wasn't around when Baldur's Gate came out, I was a console player at the time. That's what I said too by the way. Even back in December 2012 I thought that Walking was a "given". *shrug* Crusade? Anyone? -

This is something I don't understand either. This game has no lack of dark content. Yet an optional text on a wall in a relatively obscure area is the only thing that was found to be offensive? Personal. Agenda. Crusade. Gather enough people to your political party, and make a cause for it, and rally for it under your banner, and you'll see lots of establishments shake their boots. One ant is not much, many ants are a pest. -
Walking Toggle Please
Osvir replied to Mdalton31's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's because it is too late. It was too late "too late ago". I tried to push it in the early days of the Backer Beta but, IIRC, there was some indirect response in an update or in an interview or something arguing for why the characters are running~ but I really think it has to do with something like: all RPG's nowadays shows the character jogging or running everywhere in an Auto-Run mode. It's been normalized. And if the characters are walking everywhere, what do you think this thread would've been called? That's right: "Running Toggle Please" There's probably general industry data showing that more Players favors "Running" than "Walking", and had this thread been the opposite, maybe there'd be more interest in the discussion (and that's probably how all games developers know that "Running" is more important than "Walking"). And for a game developed like this (With Kickstarter/Crowdfunding), it is really "one or the other". Maybe a toggle in a sequel *shrug* -

I have immense respect for this backer, gj. Regardless if it had stayed or if it got changed (as it did), I'm glad that it wasn't removed or deleted. That would've been silly. I did the mistake of looking up the Icequeen's twitter and I just shook my head. Ignorance truly is bliss *shrug* whatever, she's happy, I'm happy, the backer is probably happy and satisfied. Obsidian might be laughing nervously though -

Osvir replied to MightyUnclean's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Like others have said, there are some bugs. I avoided the forums during my first playthrough (and I could play from start to finish and enjoy the story and the mechanics very much), and I did notice some bugs on my own but they weren't game breaking and they weren't any of the exploitable or abusable bugs that I noticed when I came back after I had finished the game (on a second playthrough now). Did encounter some frustrating ones that made me reload (insect spell that never went away), but I didn't notice anything that made my party overly super powerful (as far as I could tell). Some glitching happened here and there, but nothing massive and I could over-look most of it. I disagree with some of the design, or rather, some of the design doesn't feel final and/or simply a "foundation" for what is to come, and/or what they had the budget to do. As if the designers wanted to go to greater lengths, but, they just didn't have the time or money to do it (but will probably be able to get closer to it now that PoE, thus far, has been such a success). If they self-fund a sequel or even use crowdfunding for feature creep/stretch goals (Like Harebrained Schemes and Larian Studios) in a "We're working on this game and we got the money but we could always use some more to make more!", then I'm pretty sure it's going to be bigger, better, stronger than the first. For being a Kickstarted/crowdfunded title, Obsidian Entertainment has laid out the ground work, the "Pillars" of Eternity Now they got to do Walls of Eternity then Roof of Eternity, then Furniture of Eternity xD
