  1. This has been my point in my earlier posts...you just wouldn't go adventuring in plate armor, its for fighting battles in, a pack mule, with one click changes of gear outside combat, would be good...it'd give you a chance to try all the different armors as well, rather than sticking to one all the time Plate for battles, light armor for sneaking or spelunking...and a chain bikini for beach warfare
  2. Well I think it could be interesting, and certainly more realistic than going down into a dungeon in some of the fancy armors posted on this thread, or fighting a siege in your loincloth... different kits for different circumstances.. as long as it was quick and easy to do so it wouldn't be a chore
  3. It's not like the people developing Project Eternity are responsible for the entire top 5 greatest RPGs ever made. There's no reason to trust that they can make a good RPG. I know that, I just dont get people slagging the animations on a pre alpha, that happens to be one of the most impressive on kickstarter, when most projects don't even have anything to show
  4. At least they've actually shown some animations..that puts them way ahead of many kickstarters right from the word go...tell me how are the project eternity animations looking?
  5. I hope the starting area is different depending on your race/class....that would be the most replayable...and no one has said the mysterious event has to be in a set location
  6. Or you find some tavern wench, get her drunk...dress her up as the princess, deposit her in the kings castle saying she needs to rest, and take the reward and run before anybody notices :-D
  7. A main quest that is personal to your character and your party would be best IMO ...then its something you want or need to do rather than have people constantly telling you to get on with it
  8. I dont think it needs time limits as such....but if you go into a dungeon to rescue someone...you shouldn't be able to piss off out to the shops halfway through and expect them to still be there when you get back I wouldn't mind time limits on individual quests, but not on the main quest please
  9. This never happened to me although I used the murder option extensively. I know it was an advertised feature but it never happened. I also never had problems with recruiting new characters. Maybe it got lost in porting the game from the Amiga? edit: as far as PE goes, I'd vote against something like that. You won't have a gazillion companions to choose from in PE like you did in Ishar. It happened to me I don't know about a vote but it would be nice to get some reaction, i think theres too few companions for any to refuse to work together, but that doesn't mean they can't bitch and moan
  10. This is all very well, but they've already the said the game can be completed solo I suppose it could be a sidequest, they also said you can't do everything in one playthrough
  11. Conan did it as well, in the first Arnie film he wore armor for the battle at the burial ground, but when travelling or sneaking or thieving he didn't bother my point is though, that when going somewhere you don't know what to expect..that might have tight gaps, water, mud bogs, rickety bridges or whatever you probably wouldn't put on the heaviest, most inflexible thing you could find, especially if you're planning to carry loot out with you, not to mention the fact that you might have marched for days, uphill, to get there. Plate armor is for fighting battles, we wont be constantly fighting battles, this isn't mount and blade, would be nice to have some battles though, where heavy plate is appropriate
  12. Thinking of something like the lord of the rings films...they did put armor on for some of the big battles, but when travelling as a small group (like we will be in the game) they travelled light
  13. Whilst full plate armour is obviously the most protection in a battle I'm just not sure it would be the choice adventurers would make when going into a dungeon not knowing if they'd have to climb, swim, sneak, jump, squeeze through a tight space or pull each other up/lower them down somewhere with rope (I know many of these things probably won't be in an isometric game) this game is about a small party of adventurers exploring, not an army fighting a war, unless I've missed something.
  14. I thought dragon age did it badly, I don't want to see stuff stuck to my back apparently by magnetism (Although if you're in a zoomed out view like P.E it probably wont matter as much) Skyrim did it better for one handed stuff, as did mount and blade, though they still had 2 handed swords stuck to your back as if by magic
  15. The event might not have anything to do with you personally, you might be the only witness to something major and Maybe you witness something which has far reaching implications for the world, an imposter taking over the throne or a much loved ruler turning out to actually be a baddie...but no one believes you and you have no evidence I'd like this actually, Id like the player to be an ordinary(ish) character in extraordinary circumstances rather than some powerful figure
  16. Such comparison doesn't have a common ground for it to be valid. that very same old man would have been beaten by his 30 year old self. Its a biological fact that physically, our body peak at about 25-30. After that its a decline. There's a reason why most sportsmen peak at that age range. Certain demanding sports is where you really see the effect of a person's physical capabilities and its very rare you see a sportsmen above 40 doing well in physical sports like Formula 1 or football. I don't disagree with that..its just that agility starts to drop off noticeably much earlier than strength, possibly as much as 20 years earlier than strength, I know plenty of ex farmers and builders etc who are (or were) still very strong in their 50s and 60s but I doubt any of them could compete in the high jump. by the time you start getting weak you're probably losing some intelligence, perception and wisdom anyway.....older people forget things eyesight goes...etc this would be especially true if you've had an active life, like an adventurer for example Like gender It would be better if it affected dialogue and certain situations rather than stats anyway..if implemented at all.
  17. that would be wrong...you have to be pretty damn old before you start losing significant strength, it would be more realistic to lose agility as your joints stiffened try arm wrestling an old man who's worked all his life...you will lose
  18. I agree. My answer to the question quoted below is that it'd make perfect sense if said barbarian/ranger was forced to forgo using obsolete armour if circumstance demanded it. That'd make the world more believable. Exactly and it shows a sense of progression culturally as well as level wise: Thug the Barbarian, after adventuring in the Civilised lands has adapted and learnt the techniques used there rather than remaining static and unchanging. If my western character travelled to the east I would expect him to adapt to the culture there, much like how the crusaders changed their style f dress while in the Holy Land. Its a fantasy world with different creatures, there might be hides that are much tougher than anything on earth...
  19. I don't want instant death magic, but if there are large creatures on the scale of dragons then it could be cool if they could eat a character who strays too near
  20. Although you could wipe out a peaceful village of orcs and your reputation could actually go up with the xenophobic/scared ignorant villagers nearby, until they are wiped out in retribution by some outraged less peaceful orcs )
  21. yeah, walking like baldurs gate, maybe shift/click to run
  22. The chosen one/hero/save the world cliche also makes it difficult for side quests to make sense, would you really go looking for someones lost dog if there was an army of darkness marching to take over the world and only you could stop it? I'd actually like the main quest to be more of a mystery, you have no idea whats going on and have to figure it out, rather than someone telling you you're the chosen one and have to save the world
  23. i seem to remember in the original plans for S.T.A.L.K.E.R it was going to be possible for another stalker to complete the main quest if you left it too long...think they did away with that idea I'd like the main quest to be more personal to your character and maybe your companions then a "save the world" type thing...especially if they're going to carry over the main character for sequels/expansions (how many times can you save the world before it gets silly) of course fallout new vegas was one of obsidians recent games and that didn't have a save the world quest, in fact you could side with the "bad" guys (which would be another good thing to see in P.E) Games like baldurs gate let you create an evil character but the whole game revolved around being good or neutral, there didn't seem much to do for an evil character, I suppose always playing the good guy is a cliche in itself I've mentioned this before, but legendary items for sale in shops in town.. would be nice if the cliche fantasy races like elves and dwarves were done a bit differently in this game, I suspect we have little to worry about there Its a bit of a cliche in these types of games that humans are the short lived race and everyone else plods on for hundreds of years... I'd like the classes to be shaken up a bit as well, a lot of these games you can plan your character without knowing anything about the game system...because they're all the same, at the very least I don't want to see classes restricted to certain weapon types, if I want to create a dagger wielding barbarian or a thief with a spear it should be possible without arbitrary penalties
