  1. Got an email telling me I should get an email soon. As long as I get that email (containing my key) on or before launch, I'l be a happy camper.
  2. Playing Tomb Raider, Axe Murderer Lara style. As an action game, it's pretty good. As a Tomb Raider game, it's a failure of the highest order. The platforming, if you can even call it that, is pathetically easy. Puzzles... are there even puzzles? (I guess there are, but they're pathetic) On the other hand, the combat is pretty good. This was supposedly a reboot for the series, a new beginning. If this is the direction they're going in, then they can count me out from here on out. It's a good game, but it's not what I want out of a Tomb Raider game. Raiding tombs should not be an afterthought just haphazardly tossed in like "oh yeah, we should probably throw this in so we can pretend it's a Tomb Raider game". Raiding tombs should be the core of the game.

KoToR2 is on a flash sale and DoW2: Retribution is on a daily sale right now. If I didn't already own both of them, I'd be buying the **** out of them right now. (that translates to a recommendation for both games)

It do have to fess up and say I wound up buying a clothing DLC for Tomb Raider. Of course, it was only $0.24, which I was able to cover with money I got from selling a trading card. Plus, Lara just looked so cold in those early scenes. I was just being a gentleman by getting her that sweet bomber jacket to keep her warm (and stylish).
  5. I thought it was a warm gun. Now I'm really confused. This has really slowed down, though it should still make its goal.
  6. A very simplified and much more playable version of Rolemaster. I was never able to understand fans of Rolemaster, I have to admit. That game was so ardeous and so incredibly complicated, demanding dice rolls for everything. All it lacked was a Nose Picking Disaster Table, and there'd be a table and a chart for every damn thing you could possible imagine. Once the game got up and going it didn't take THAT long, assuming the GM had all the charts handy. Character creation, on the other hand, was a ridiculously arduous process. It would usually take me an entire day, if not longer, to create a single character. Of course, that's if you were just using the base rules. Once you start diving into the optional companion books... /whistles The game was certainly not for the feint of heart, or the short on time.
  7. Obligatory Sharknado gif:

All I do is sell any dupes I get. I don't put any effort into getting cards. If I get one I get one. If that mean that eventually I get a badge, or whatever, then I get a badge. /shrugs
  9. I'm just about ready to start taking advanced (tier 2) skills in Tomb Raider. For those that have played the game, is Axe Murderer Lara a viable play style (obviously some enemies I'll need to take out with ranged weapons)? I ask because anyone can pull a trigger, but sticking an ice axe into someone just seems way more badass.
  10. 27 Celsius? Pfft, we had a solid week of 90+ Farenheit (32 Celsius) with about 80% humidity.
  11. I'm not sure if the cowboy hat really goes with Benny's checkered suit. I always like to bring Ed-E along. It's absolutely worth it for the inspirational battle music alone.
  12. Even after the umpteenth time you get captured in a cutscene? Yeah, as long as there were no QTEs involved I've enjoyed all the cinematics: capture, recapture, etc.
  13. I do use a controller, it doesn't make QTEs any less of a garbage mechanic. I'm fine with QTEs for optional mini-games, and I can stomach them as part of the core game if they're used VERY sparingly, but the amount of QTEs in Tomb Raider is egregious. I enjoy the cutscenes too, at least when I'm not having to do QTEs, they're well acted and well scripted.
  14. Man, Tomb Raider is really frustrating. A lot of the game is quite good and enjoyable. Then there are the QTEs, so ****ing many QTEs. Good lord, I knew the game had QTEs, but this is ridiculous. If I didn't have to deal with a QTE every 5 seconds (I'm exaggerating... a little bit) I could actually enjoy myself.
  15. I find both the Steam workshop and the Nexus Mod Manager to be wonderful systems for making installing and removing mods as painless as possible.
  16. In this summer of reversals, Square Enix just said they were wrong and will update the game. Meanwhile, I've been playing it a bit on the ipad, and while it's early days yet, it's both a real deus ex game and definitely the best ipad game I've played. Can't comment about length yet, but they really should have done this as a Blood Dragon type game instead of "mobile", considering the apparent depth. While I'll never get to play it (lack of iDevice and all), I'm glad it's a quality game and not just a quick cash-in.
  17. I'm playing The Adventures of Pre-Boob-Job Lara Croft. I could definitely do with less QTEs (like all of them), otherwise it's pretty good so far. My lappy (i7 3630QM GT650M) can't handle TressFX, but I can crank most other settings to max besides AA (FXAA) and anisotropic (4X), so the game looks quite purrdy.

I also scooped up the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer DLC for Tomb Raider for $0.74. All the other DLCs seem to be either weapons, multipler maps, or skins for multiplayer. Now I just need Of Orcs and Men and La Mulana at 75% off and I'll be all set.
  19. Keyrock replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
**** yes! Tomb Raider 75% off ($12.49). Perfect timing too, as I'm about to go for a bike ride and can just let this download while I'm out riding.
  20. That's the reaction I had too.
  21. I hope they do make it someday. I'm down for Skyrim Shock Effect (Mass Sky Shock? System Effect Rim?). Obsidian has already proven they can make a far superior game with one of Bethesda's engines, obligatory bugs aside.
  22. They have to save something for Sharknado 2 or Sharknado vs. Sharktopus Seriously though, SyFy has done a bunch of these super cheesy monster and/or disaster B-movies. Most of them have been just plain bad, but they hit it out of the park with Sharknado. It was so absurdly ridiculous that it was pure joy to watch. I'd almost put it on the same level as Escape From New York as far as amazingly awesome B-movies.
  23. Prosper, while that's magnificent work, it's pretty tame by your standards. You're not going soft on us, are you?
  24. As long as you went through even a single battle, you've gone through all of them, as they are all practically completely identical, right down to happening in the same areas again and again and again and... Now all you have to do is watch the cut-scenes on youtube and, congratulations, you just experienced the entirety of Dragon Age 2.
