Simonetti's uses regular shredded mozzarella and the sliced buffalo mozzarella that's traditional for a Neopolitan pie.

I made chicken & dumplings: It's not as dialed in as my beef stew or chili yet, but the addition of peas was definitely a success and staying in on my next iteration.

Maybe Philosophy, Maybe Madness, Or Maybe just the Meme Quotes....

In fairness, everyone eventually ends up dead anyway. -
Ghostbusters: Afterlife references EVERYTHING from Ghostbusters (1984). Even insignificant details and throwaway lines are referenced, spoken about in hushed tones, and treated like the most important things in the universe. And yes, another thing Ivo Shandor built and Gozer the Gozerian, it's the same exact villains from the original. The level of pandering is off the charts. Edit: Also, CGI Harold Ramis made my skin crawl. It looked better than CGI Peter Cushing and they dedicated the movie to him, which is all well and good, but I am really uncomfortable with using dead actors via CGI. It's creepy as ****. I wish Hollywood hadn't opened that can of worms.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This movie should have been called Ghostbusters: Overcorrection. I mean, I get why the movie is like this. They formed a new company which should have been called Wishful Thinking Inc. and then their first outing Ghostbusters (2016) was a spectacular failure that not only bombed but then they attacked their fanbase in a misguided desperate attempt to garner sympathy, which may have temporarily worked, but didn't translate to ticket sales. Then even the pathetic, greedy sympathy plea failed when people realized that the movie was simply bad. Now they had a pissed off fanbase and a company in the red, so they hastily put together a movie built almost entirely on nostalgia and starring kids, because nobody can hate on kids except cynical, black-hearted monsters, like me. I'm not against including some bits of fan service if you already have a solid identity and story in place and the fan service is just icing on the cake. You shouldn't make a cake out of just icing. This movie panders and leans on nostalgia so hard that it's pitiful.

Fine choice to play Connor MacLeod. The more important question is who will play The Kurgan? 99.9% chance it won't be as good a Clancy Brown's performance, he was not so secretly the best part of the movie.

Annihilation doesn't have the delightful Christopher Lambert, therefore it doesn't exist.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was solid. Don't @ me.

Clearly, the best video game movie is Bloodrayne: The Third Reich from esteemed auteur Uwe Boll:

Writing about New York City pizza got me wanting a pie, so I got a Margherita pizza from Simonetti's: Simonetti's in Belmont makes an above average pizza for the Charlotte area and a well above average Margherita, plus it's close by. It can't compete with NYC pizza but it's about as good as I can do 'round these parts. They really nail the dough, it has just the right balance of crunch and chewiness, and they don't skimp on the basil, which is sadly all too common in this area. I've seen places not even use basil and try to pass it off as a Margherita, which is shameful.

That article is 2 years old and only helps to prove my point that it's so surprising that Tucker Carlson, of all people, is the one that doesn't sound like a raving lunatic right now. I was referring to Tucker being one of the very few people in the corporate media saying "Hold on, let's not rush to war in Ukraine." Meanwhile, lots of pundits are beating the war drum while Ratheon and Lockheed-Martin salivate. It's a strange world where CNN and MSNBC have gone so far off the deep end that thry make the propagandists at Fox News seem reasonable by comparison. It's a bizarro world.

Every few years I go through a 4 step process with MMOs: 1) Hmm, I haven't played a MMO in a long time maybe I should give one a try? 2) Let's give <insert game name> a try. *Downloading Intensifies* 3) *Boredom Intensifies* Give up. 4) Oh yeah, that's right, I don't like MMOs. I'm currently at step 1. I should probably just do the smart thing and skip directly to step 4. -
Go to New Park Pizza on Cross Bay Blvd in Queens. Thank me later. One of the very few benefits of living in Connecticut was that we had the second best pizza in America (particularly in the New Haven area). It's the only thing I miss about CT since I moved down south, pizza anywhere near that good is impossible to find here. The absolute best I've found in the greater Charlotte area would be a middle of the road at best pizza in Connecticut. As good as the pizza in CT was, it was still a step down from NYC pizza. Any time I drove my folks to or picked them up from JFK airport I ALWAYS took a half hour detour to New Park Pizza. Worth every penny and every minute. Note: If we have any New Yorkers in the forum they can probably tell you a place even better than New Park Pizza. It's the best place I found, but I never lived in NYC so my sample size is somewhat limited.

The TV and Streaming Thread: Where is Ricky Gervais when you need him???

It was a blessing in disguise when Denise Crosby made the fantastic career decision to abandon a lifetime of royalties in favor of starring in horrible B movies. Once Tasha Yar was jettisoned via tar monster and Worf took her place, he came into his own. -

Season 1 of TNG was the most like TOS. TOS was quite campy, in large part due to how low budget it was, and I like camp, but it just didn't work for me in season 1 of TNG. Also, Wesley was THE WORST. Season 2 was a roller coaster ride. Seasons 3 & 4 were God-Tier. Season 5 was the beginning of the decline, but I'd still take any of the last 3 seasons over season 2 and certainly over season 1. DS9 is where Star Trek started to seriously deviate from Roddenberry's original vision, but it works because it's so well written with a superb cast of characters. Voyager... I don't know what kind of drugs the writers were on, but it felt like they were just flinging ideas at the wall and hoping some would stick. This created some amazingly amusing episodes as well as a ton of hospital strength cringe. Enterprise... I'll be honest here, I only watched as much of that show as I did for Jolene Blalock in a skin-tight bodysuit. -
Y'all already know that Eurojank RPGs are my comfort food and GreedFall was a significant step up for Spiders in terms of quality over their previous games IMHO. Needless to say, I'm super excited for this. As an aside, Spiders' latest gimmick seems to be slapping 2 words together to form 1 long word. Are we sure they're a French company and not German?

I'm grinding Lilim in Circle of the Moon for Dark Armor. No luck so far, but that's not surprising given that it's a rare drop, so even while wearing 2 Luck Rings the chance of it dropping is still quite small. It's not a total waste, though, since she gives 8K XP, so I've leveled up several times. Once I get the armor I'm straight off to fight Hugh and Dracula. -
