The Case for Romance.
rjshae replied to NanoPaladin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You're a pretty perverse individual and delusional. Is he? is he really? But Boo's question is of such a personal nature... well, the thought of it makes me blush right down to my buttocks! Many thanks, Aerie! Soon, maybe, Boo can return his little-mind to thoughts of butt-kicking instead of butt-itching, and I for one shall be very relieved! Boo is small and evasive, and there is ever so much of Minsc to search. Boo must have his exercise, lest he bite us all in hard to reach places. A den of stinking evil. Cover your nose Boo! We will leave no crevice untouched! -
Perks/Characters traits
rjshae replied to Auxilius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Possibly, if the only thing it impacted were emergent game play elements like your reputation scores. Branches to the plot line would likely be much more expensive. -
Whoosh... right over my head.

Perks/Characters traits
rjshae replied to Auxilius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Every trait that effects dialogue may represent a large addition to the game development cost because all of those conversation trees need to be written. It's likely much cheaper to implement elements like skill modifiers. -

Thoughts on damage types
rjshae replied to ItinerantNomad's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yes, one might make the hand waving argument that the spell magically creates a large positive charge on the targets that draws in the electron discharge. In effect, the targets briefly become more attractive than the ground. The plate armor then draws away part of the charge potential during the brief interval the charge reaches the target, reducing the effect by the designated amount. -

Animal companions

Can you get a pet Munchkin? -
Neither of which involved discovering entirely new physical laws....

Yes, the stretch goals included a player house and a stronghold. No mention of rusty the rodent slayer or thy faithful hound, sir stinky breath. -
Thoughts on damage types
rjshae replied to ItinerantNomad's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Josh's point about Accuracy bonuses is not exactly valid IMO. True, the more metal your armour contains, the more attractive it becomes to being struck by a bolt of electricity. But it also provides more protection from damage, even if it is not grounded. Another perspective is that an ideal suit of metal armor creates a constant electric potential throughout the enclosure. If there is no difference in electrical potential, then no charge will flow. It's the principle of the Faraday cage. -

As an alternative to a dog, a novel pet could be the elite domesticated silver fox. -
'Rolling' attributes
rjshae replied to magicwallis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
If they wanted to please the dice-rolling crowd, they could randomly generate stats that always add up to the same point total. I.e. just: randomly assign points to the ability columns, use the points to generate the abilities assign any points left over (from insufficient totals to increase a high abilities) as bumps to the lowest abilities The dice rollers can then go mad using it to generate randomized character types. -
Spill your blasphemous opinions on CRPGs here

Romance discussions are like mold; unless you regularly clean the thread and keep it dry, the stuff just keeps showing up... -

~32 months until 2016 elections not counting the lag from the elections to the swearing in ceremony Shows what I know. Typically brinksmanship like this is what miscreants try when a President is beset elsewhere, or about to leave*. Mind you, what the hell has the Obama Whitehouse done internationally to deter any aggressive action against allies or potential allies? *On reflection I'm not sure they DO try stuff on the out Has there been any 'aggressive action' threatened to US allies recently ? And in any event, you think Russia's going to really care ? Russia may or may not care, but a full-on invasion will end up hurting them economically. It may lead to sanctions, loss of business ties, and other impacts. The net impact depends on how much resistance the Ukraine is willing to raise.

The Russian military probably wants the naval base at Sevastopol back in their hands, but will have to grab and hold Crimea to do it.

Are we asking for forgiveness? No. Nations that aren't sufficiently proficient at spying end up with their fleet of battleships getting torpedoed and sunk by a surprise attack. So I'm all for having a top notch spy service. But this is way off topic...

PoE is a famous literary figure; PE is something I do at a urinal. Guess which I prefer? -
PoE or PE?

Less appealing than what? It's a community-made acronym. -
Saga Heroes "Saga Heroes is an action/adventure RPG where you, a humble villager, are called on a quest to save the world from evil by uncovering the cause of the corruption of the land by a cult called The Shadow, whose sole purpose is to release the Elder God of Death, Goth-Azul." In other words, standard swords & sorcery stuff. To me the goal of $10,000 seems pretty low for the graphical quality and planned platform ports. But it might be good.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
rjshae replied to AlphaWhelp's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well... the thing is that not a few people are stereotypically shallow and superficial. People may not like the behavior of blatant sexism because it doesn't fit the modern, indoctrinated, starchy P.C. behavior model, but sometimes you need to go against conventional expectations in order to drive a story. This setting is, after all, not the U.S. in the 21st century. As long as her motivations are consistent and drive that behavior, then it seems like a feasible addition.
