Can PoE grow as a franchise the way the Witcher did?
rjshae replied to Skyleaf's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The soul-oriented nature of this setting could lend itself well to a unique console offering. For example, how about a protagonist who can switch souls with another body by subduing them in combat? This could easily provide all sorts of variety as each body adopted would have a different standing with the major factions in the world and possibly possess a unique set of special abilities. Every play through could have completely different consequences and outcomes.

New health system - poll version
rjshae replied to Silent Winter's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Enough people to make Obsidian change it even though they liked the system in Eternity 1 apparently. Ah, so your argument is that enough people didn't like a split health system that the designers are changing to a slightly different split health system? Huh.

I never finished Pillars of Eternity.

To the stars
For building an in-depth space opera I think you need to limit access a bit, or otherwise you're left trying to detail an enormous mass of potential worlds. A single-system setting like the Expanse or Firefly is one way to do it, or you could use an interstellar wormhole network with strategic choke points.

Is Deadfire having all new spells for every class?
rjshae replied to firkraag888's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)For flavor purposes, I'd like to see them expand the list of priest spells... then, for each deity, pick one spell per level that a follower can't cast. For example, a priest of Eothas would not have access to, say, Withdraw, Divine Mark, Despondent Blows, and Searing Seal.

During my lunch break at work I enjoy visiting the Blender Artists Community, particularly the Finished Project forum for the often gorgeous eye candy.- crazy ideas you like to have (but most likely not get)
rjshae replied to Madscientist's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Some type of benefit for matching up a helmet type with your armor type (or a penalty for not doing so). It looks really weird to have my Rogue or Wizard walking around in light armor and, say, a great helm.- Games You Would Like to See as an Obsidian Isometric Game?
Yeah, some type of galaxy-spanning space opera would be welcome. I can live without the expensive cutscenes, as long as the story is enjoyable.- Casting outside of Combat

rjshae replied to Silent Winter's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)How many people actually "hated" on Eternity's health system? A handful? Forum topics tend to attract people who have strong views on the topic. The loudest opinions expressed therein don't necessarily represent the majority view.- Obsidian, please make the Space Pig plushie an add-on

rjshae replied to Madscientist's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Walkpathing that isn't broken during combat... There's not much worse than giving a character an order during a critical battle then watch them rapidly twitch back and forth because they can't figure out which way to go.- New health system - poll version
rjshae replied to Silent Winter's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Too much realism would detract from the enjoyment of the game. Certain game mechanics are clearly abstractions of tedious activities, such as transporting endless piles of loot back to base or healing severe injuries. How would it be fun to actually perform these acts? It's too much like work, and games are leisure time activities.- What's so Funny?

rjshae replied to Silent Winter's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I enjoyed the injury system in W2, but I didn't like the long wait for the injuries to time out. For me, injuries add a level of gritty realism to an RPG. If they do implement it for PoE2, I would like to see a capability to remediate certain types of injuries. Like a magical cold pack for an twisted ankle, for example, or a steak for a bruised eye. Maybe a herbalistic approach?- I am very disappointed to hear the party will be reduced to five.
rjshae replied to Gregorovitch's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think this change is going to further weaken the rogue class, but strengthen the barbarian. Opportunities for the rogue to flank opponents will be significantly reduced because there are now just four other party members available to double-up an opponent. In contrast, the likelihood of party members becoming isolated during combat will greatly increase, and the barbarian is the best class for handling that. I suspect that will mean the classes may need to be rebalanced again.- Better soulbound weapons for pillars 2?
rjshae replied to firkraag888's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yup. In the end I always just wind up looking at the price of items and choosing the more expensive, unless I particularly like the cheaper item for some reason. That was the great thing about the old HERO/Champions system; you could tell directly how useful and potent a power was based on its point cost.- Backer Portal Is Up
rjshae replied to Katarack21's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Based on the new icons at left, I see the sticker brigade made another pass through the forums.
