  1. I think a trade deal with GB can be considered low hanging fruit. Only 194 more foot surgeries to go.
  2. Yes, that is the "best case" scenario. In my mind it depends on what happens with the mid-term elections. If they are fair and represent the majority view, I'll feel more optimistic.
  3. I enjoyed Sanctuary, a Witch's tale on AMC+. It was better than I was expecting and was actually more about the drama than fantasy magic. The modern witch hunt tale felt entirely plausible, given human nature.
  4. For now. There was a ceasefire declared in January as well. Peace overtures rarely seem to last long in that part of the world.
  5. This week in stupid: FEMA cancels classes at national fire training academy amid federal funding cuts Fire fighting? Such a waste of money.
  6. What happens when punk does reggae. Jimmy Cliff does a pretty good take on this song.
  7. Island prisons are more expensive to run. Here in Washington we closed the McNeil Island penitentiary for that reason. There's no significant benefit to re-opening Alcatraz, when the money can be better spent elsewhere.
  8. Just enjoying the beautiful weather, strolling, and listening to reggae.
  9. I disagree with your claim they are 'equally' bad. Compared to the elected USA presidents over the last fifty years, Biden was average; Trump is incompetent.
  10. A new Planet 9 candidate has been found: Evidence of controversial Planet 9 uncovered in sky surveys taken 23 years apart Hopefully the new survey telescopes coming online soon will sort it all out.
  11. The doomsday clock never went away. It is now 89 seconds to midnight
  12. Working on my next set of 3-D model conversions. Sketchfab is a great site to just explore, in addition to all their downloads.
  13. I finished watching Snowpiercer. It was a fun series, even in the scenario is completely implausible. All it would take is one large tree fall or landslide and the train is halted in its tracks. In some ways the scenario reminded me a little of the Fallout series with its mad science experiments in the various shelters. The acting was pretty good though, the characters were suitably flawed, and there were some decent plot twists. It's always fun watching Sean Bean, in this case as the devilish engineer mastermind. Daveed Diggs was a good casting as the charming revolutionary, and I enjoyed Jennifer Connelly's work as the icy train engineer. Another favorite was Bess Till, as a truly tormented soul. All in all an enjoyable cast.
  14. Well, on the positive side, inflation from tariffs is presumably a one-time thing, unless orangeman decides to keep increasing them. The bigger problem for the economy is the level of instability displayed by his decision-making process. It's the type of behavior that creates problems for businesses trying to budget for the next financial year. I'd expect that businesses will become more cautious and conservative, stock-piling against future tariffs, avoiding risky investments, and limiting new hires. Growth will slow, jobs will be harder to find, and the economy will slump. Combine that will a loss of government jobs and a reduction in research. I don't see a formula for positive growth.
  15. And so it begins... *COUGH*Andromeda Strain*COUGH*
  16. I also enjoyed Rebels, more so after the first season. I never could get into Star Wars Resistance.
  17. Astronomers have a narrowed down a candidate for planet nine. More observations are needed, of course... A Search for Planet Nine with IRAS and AKARI Data (arXiv) Is This the First Hint of Planet Nine? (Universe Today)
  18. Apart from being completely one-sided, a critical point is that it does nothing to deter another Russian invasion of Ukraine after the Russians have re-armed and rebuilt their forces. Only a NATO alliance or Ukrainian nuclear weapons would provide that.
  19. These people are definitely wired a little different.
  20. There's a distinct lack of humanity in the cuts I've observed. I'm not sure if that's just because its how they are reported in the Press, or just because the administration is made of wealthy a**holes. Maybe both.
  21. DJT said it would end within 24 hours, so technically it ended on Jan. 21st.
  22. Yeah, if you don't like fighting demons then this isn't the game for you. That being said, it's at least as good as Kingmaker, and I liked the companions more. At least the non-evil ones.
  23. These days I'm less interested in purely vampire-based plot lines, so no I haven't watched it. I have enjoyed Being Human though, perhaps because it's a mix of themes.
