New Scientific Discoveries, Part Vier
A Japanese Spacecraft Has Crash-Landed on the Moon—Again These commercial missions seem to be having a lot of trouble trying to stick the landing. By comparison, the old US Surveyor landers did pretty well: they successfully landed 5 out of 7 using a fairly simple system by today's standards.

Don't forget the BLM protests also happened under Trump. Part of a pattern. In this instance it's not widespread violence; it's in one city and the LAPD and state governor were already handling it. The latter has the ability to deploy the National Guard as needed. There was no need for the Executive branch to step into the foray.

Trump v. Musk Who didn't see that one coming? Two huge egoists trying to work together? Ha! The only surprise is it lasted as long as it did. My speculation is Musk is trying to recover Tesla now that the market has dropped out of his firm. The only quick way to do that is to win back his buyers by going after DJT. The logic of psilocybin, ketamine, and ecstasy, I suppose.

Ukraine Conflict - In the grim darkness of the near future, there is only war!
No CAPS at all? Clear English writing with no rants? Are we supposed to believe that was written by DJT?

I'd read it was an underwater explosion, which should be more effective if done right. Yet the bridge is apparently still standing.

Targeting strategic bridges seems like an efficient form of asymmetrical warfare, if Ukraine is looking to further disrupt the Russian economy. Bridges are expensive to put up (as are strategic bombers).

....and finished. In retrospect it probably wouldn't work as a live action series. It's pretty brutal, a lot of the dialog is internal, and the landscape is pretty bleak for much of the story.

My political hat suggested that Josh Shapiro would be a decent Democratic candidate, since he hails from the critical state of Pennsylvannia. However, he has three strikes against him: he's white, he's male, and he was raised Jewish. He just doesn't check enough Democrat party dogma boxes. Buttigeig is at least gay. Check. But he comes from a smaller state. His being intelligent and having served in Afghanistan probably doesn't help much in the primaries.

New poll shows who Dems want in 2028 — and it’s not Kamala Harris It's Pete Buttigieg. Surprise. But other polls put Harris in first, so who knows at this point? Supposedly Harris is considering a run for governor of California. Not sure if that suggests Gavin Newsome is planning a run for Prez. His approval ratings in California have sunk below 50% in most areas.

Re-reading the Broken Earth series from N. K. Jemisin because it's been a few years now, and I'm seeing a lot of details I missed the first time through. I was thinking maybe Sonequa Martin-Green to play the role of Essen. She's 40 now so that fits. How about Morgan Freeman for Alabaster? Timothée Chalamet could be Hoa.
