  1. A curious study: Study finds Republicans flagged for posting misleading tweets twice as often as Democrats on Community Notes One would hope the use of disinformation would be equal among both parties, but it appears the right has more fully embraced the dark arts.
  2. They should call it "Spaceballs To", just to mess with the grammar space nazi's. It's good to see Mel Brooks still kicking around at 98.
  3. Apparently no strikes in eastern Iran. Range limit perhaps?
  4. I can access it on Hulu, but apparently it's also on Roku or Plex (per Just watch). I hear ya. Recently I started switching between (Roku-accessible) streaming services every few months, just to watch different shows. I'm expecting that there will be more and more consolidation over time.
  5. I'm just curious why so much anime seems to feature slavery? Is it because there's less of a cultural inhibition in Japan?
  6. In case we forget what the first amendment does for us: Saudi Arabia executes a journalist after 7 years behind bars. Activists say it was over his tweets
  7. It's funny how so many attempts at peacemaking in the Middle East by American presidents only seems to lead to more conflict. I guess it's just a crappy neighborhood. We've wasted entirely too much diplomatic capital on that region. Because oil, I suppose.
  8. I think it would have been (a lot) more popular without the obvious association with his highness' birthday. I'm not against military parades per say, and I do support our military forces. But this was tacky.
  9. I actually enjoy watching How It's Made. It's very calming; must be the predictability of its presentation and how everything progresses logically.
  10. Today in... wha? The Bleach Community Is Ready for RFK Jr. to Make Their Dreams Come True So... do I need to worry about what's in this Fall's influenza vaccine?
  11. The way the two sides are(n't) talking at each other, this all seems to be heading in a really bad direction. *sigh* If this ends up in a civil war, I suspect it will be along, brutal guerilla war that will ultimately destroy the nation. There aren't going to be clear-cut front lines, and we won't recognize the country when it's over. But we will be a great (third-world) nation afterward. So, congratulations MAGA.
  12. The delta seems to be various small tweaks. The one I did notice is that the half-elf and half-orc are not in the new SRD. WTF?
  13. I finished watching the Andor series; overall it was really good, probably the best star wars sequence I've seen, even counting the original trilogy. The curious thing is that watching Rogue One at the end only made that movie seem rushed. There was much less character development compared to Andor, and the result was the ending didn't feel that tragic. I wonder what it would have been like if Rogue One was season 3 of Andor? That would never happen, of course, because it was an expensive series. But then I also wondered what made it so expensive? Was it all the expansive sets they built? It was well done and felt very organic to the setting. I don't think I saw any half measures.
  14. Unlikely; he's got enough sycophants feeding his ego. I do think that repeated deployment of the US military to quell protests will not go over well. Unfortunately, we could see a repeat of the Vietnam War era where our soldiers were disparaged. I'm not sure I'd want to join the military right now.
  15. Live updates: Pentagon says deploying Marines and National Guard to LA will cost $134 million What you get with a president who treats everything as a battle is considerable wasted resources, whether lawyers, accountants, or military resources.
  16. To focus down on this, yes I do support ICE doing their job legally. It's the legal aspect that makes this all a bit dodgy (under DJT). When you push the boundaries of what is legal, more mistakes get made, rights are violated, and people here legally get deported.
  17. A Japanese Spacecraft Has Crash-Landed on the Moon—Again These commercial missions seem to be having a lot of trouble trying to stick the landing. By comparison, the old US Surveyor landers did pretty well: they successfully landed 5 out of 7 using a fairly simple system by today's standards.
  18. Don't forget the BLM protests also happened under Trump. Part of a pattern. In this instance it's not widespread violence; it's in one city and the LAPD and state governor were already handling it. The latter has the ability to deploy the National Guard as needed. There was no need for the Executive branch to step into the foray.
  19. The administration has deployed military troops to LA using emergency powers. There's your sign. The legal issues raised by Trump sending the National Guard to L.A.
  20. The fact that this fued even matters is why this is now an oligarchy.
  21. He'd just spend a few billion to build an impenetrable bunker habitat. I think the guy just needs to lay off the drugs and go cold turkey with the social media sewage system.
