If that's the kind of deal that they're making, it's probably more than that. Nowadays PC games make almost all of their money on digital (on Steam, to be precise), so giving Paradox just 30% on the already small amount of physical sales would be a pretty measly payoff for them. Sure but many old-school fans of old-school RPGs also like old-school physical copies I guess. As much as its just a nostalgia thing, it's also an unfortunate reality of Kickstarter.

A game with a plot deeper than "Those guys [are enemies of america/are terrorists/killed your father/burned down your peasant village/are other highlanders bhallspawn/wear blue shirts even though the dress code states that they should be wearing red]. From everything that I've seen from Trey and Matt's "creative process", they seem to just stumble on to success. (And by that I mean they just decide to do things without any real idea of what it entails)

I upped my pledge the - No, that's wrong. I upped my pledge for a lot of reasons, the main one being my friendship with my writing partner, and how he spent so much money on me over the years. The first up was for dev commentary.

This, basically. Complete does not mean complete in most cases. That's why it's called Alpha and not the finished game. I don't get why everyone is acting like it's ready to demo if it's in the first of two stages. I don't think there are any PoE-specific talks. And as far as I know, PoE is going to Early Access. But I think the thing that we're all forgetting here is that GDC is not a convention. It's a trade show, like E3 or the International Halloween Trade Show.

I don't think Bioware really had a choice in the matter due to previous business decisions. They sold out to Elevation Partners to merge with Pandemic to create some sort of super-indie studio, then Elevation were the ones who sold Bioware to EA. Let's not use the "sell out" phrase. It's, quite frankly, stupid.

I honestly do not expect it to be a second Kickstarter.
