  1. I'm pretty sure that the kid isn't allow to drink coffee. Edit: A more pertinent question is " Is Twin Peaks the new Citizen Kane buzzword?" Well, it's the truth in this case,
  2. Anyone else watch this show on Disney? I had my doubts at first, but now am on episode 17 of a two day binge. It's incredibly smart. Oh, and Obsidian should definitely get the rights for an RPG. The lore on this show is just incredible, and Avellone and the boyz I'm sure would have a field day.
  3. They have implied (I think) that we will indeed get feedback, but I doubt that process will start until everyone has got their stuff in. They have 171 to get through, and who knows how many of those have already been sent in. I'd like to be optimistic, but I'm betting less than half.
  4. Okay. Regardless of South Park: What kind of television do you watch? What kind of games do you play? What kind of books do you read? What kind of music do you listen to? And back to cartoons: every cartoon in existence has a message.
  5. It will be interesting if DF releases the financials for Broken Age, in comparison to the KS backers.
  6. Yeah, in my experience, when people say they want to play evil, they really are just looking for ways to complain about not having enough "choice".
  7. Then why do you have a shiny silver badge under your avatar? huh? HUH!? ... that's actually a very valid point. Sorry to inform you, but some devs actually like putting in things you don't.
  8. These are basically my big three complaints with Broken Age, or to be more specific, Broken Age-type KS dev cycles. For instance, one of the issues my project has had is that I bottlenecked us into one specific mechanic of gameplay without any real input from my lead designer. This was an incredibly stupid move done out of frustration and time crunch and is primarily the reason my thing isn't out yet. That and we gave money to the wrong people... Having just now resolved my issues with BA and HIB, I just now got around to downloading my copy. So I'll give my report on the gameplay later.
  9. I may have lied. Giana Sisters beats out Banner Saga, but only due to production value. That game is friggin' gorgeous, and you forget that it was made for only $135k+ after taxes and fees.
  10. I really like the descriptions. I like how descriptive the stats page is. More information is always best.
  11. I think EA is caught in a deadly cycle: they're in the red and the only way they see to get out of it is DLC. But enough about that. The Banner Saga is by far the best Kickstarter game at this point.
  12. Someone once wrote on Kotaku that EA would kill their own children if it meant more profit. I... I think that day I lost a little faith in humanity.
  13. So... it's biased via the facts? It's not a negative article or a smear job. Also, Kickstarter is more like in its tweens. The idea of big companies or names doing Kickstarters is a relatively new thing.
  14. It won't. What it will do, and is already doing, is create an outlet for side projects. You probably right as the inner cynic in me already knows, but a man can hope surely? It's only cynical if you let that GAMING IS DYING attitude fester. Just enjoy games. Don't make it any more complicated. I mean, unless you want to spend your days blaming EA for the ills of the world.
  15. It won't. What it will do, and is already doing, is create an outlet for side projects.
  16. A drop in the ocean. Yeah, it really... gets to me... when I go on NeoGAF or - shudder - BioWare Social and see people raging about how their forum is that companies entire fanbase. Or that Kickstarter will end publishers as we know it. I love Kickstarter. But I am not going to join in some Doom And Gloom Apathy circlejerk. Also, this is a real interesting article: http://evilasahobby.com/2014/01/18/kickstander-only-around-a-third-of-kickstarted-video-game-projects-fully-deliver-to-their-backers/
  17. Every game mechanic and gimmick - even DLC, F2P, and microtranscations - can be done well. It's a fallacy to denounce a feature just because it exists. It's all about execution.
  18. I don't understand why people ever used Metacritic as any form of gauge.
  19. I really want to back both Cradle and Kingdom Come, but my money was sucked up by my new rig.
  20. I hope such low physical rewards won't hurt them. The sex options were a small part of the gameplay, that shouldn't be a reason to dismiss the whole game? I didn't say it did. Get rid of the stupid sex scenes and the locked content and The Witcher 3 would be perfect. Yes, I said get rid of the locked content. The main story should never lock the player out. I understand the appeal, but it just doesn't work for a linear product. And let's face it - video games are linear stories. The Banner Saga recently exemplified this: it had many different branching plot points, but ultimately, the main story got to the same place. It never wavered from the spine. Branching Plot is very, very different from Branching Story. It's honestly why I like ME3 and DA2's story over TW2's.
  21. The Witcher was still completely juvenile when it came to sex. Kingdom Come looks awesome.
  22. I have a feeling, much like the Wasteland 2 backer content, they are not going to get around to it until the game is in done.
