  1. I was going to make a snarky comment, but this.
  2. That's entirely not what I said. If a game has a stretch goal for, say, other platforms, I'll contribute more.
  3. We don't know anything about character creation yet. Your argument is transparent.
  4. Hell, I was on the fence about if I could pledge to any new KS this month, let alone this one. But because of the female stretch goal, I just may. That's not white knighting, that's just being fair.
  5. All this is moot because the devs are going to add in a female main character as a stretch goal. So you can't make the claim that this isn't something they want to do.
  6. A game in the tradition of the olden cRPGs should aim for at least 40h. There's no way to accurately say how long it's going to be until you playtest it. While I'm sure Obsidian has some sort of time length in mind, it's impossible to say "35 hours" and have that be the actual, accurate time. Consider how fast you can speedrun some games vs. if you take your time.
  7. I never said any of those things. Nobody did.
  8. Okay, so I played Broken Age. Entirely predictable (dat ending), and waaaaaaaaaaay too retro for my taste. By retro I mean feature wise and mechanic wise. In 2014, there is no reason why you should not be able to use WASD to move.
  9. The ongoing story, the references directly to TP, the mystery, the setting, the characters, are all reasons I say it's - well, it IS directly inspired by Twin Peaks, but that doesn't mean it is not its own thing entirely. Besides Batman, it's one of the most involved animated shows I've ever seen. Don't knock it because "it's a cartoon".
  10. Another thing: I'm sick to death of the "that's how things were back then" excuse when people are racist, sexist, or just plain bigots. We live in the now. Not back then. And even then, that phrase seems to sugarcoat the entire time period. Just because it was the zeitgeist does not mean that everyone was racist or sexist or a bigot. It doesn't even mean it was okay. Sufferage and the Civil Rights Movement did not pop up out of thin air.
  11. ... you really, really need to think before you post. You're coming off as not just a historical purist, but you're dangling on the edge of sexism. "Woman thing again?" Implying that you've had this argument before. Were you one of the people that wanted to pull their funding from Torment because you could choose genders at character creation? It's a game, and guess what? Women play games. Nobody is trying to "rewrite history" with a game. It's a game. Women play games.
  12. Yeah, Wx Dolls is one of my favorites. Nothing will beat Summerween, though. That was a perfect Halloween episode. Tone, atmosphere.
  13. I was told this was a cool thread. Apparently, I was lied to.
  14. I'm pretty sure that the kid isn't allow to drink coffee. Edit: A more pertinent question is " Is Twin Peaks the new Citizen Kane buzzword?" Well, it's the truth in this case, Just cause they copied the red room scene, that doesn't qualify. Everyone copies that scene. Have you watched the show?
  15. In my rewards form, it asked what I wanted it to say in the credits. I put down the name of my indie team.
  16. The devs have said they won't use the money to make a console port, and even if they did in the future, how does that affect you? How does it affect you if other people who play on console just happen to want to play this game on console (and please do not respond with "they should buy a PC"). Yes, you over-reacted.
  17. I'm pretty sure that the kid isn't allow to drink coffee. Edit: A more pertinent question is " Is Twin Peaks the new Citizen Kane buzzword?" Well, it's the truth in this case,
  18. Anyone else watch this show on Disney? I had my doubts at first, but now am on episode 17 of a two day binge. It's incredibly smart. Oh, and Obsidian should definitely get the rights for an RPG. The lore on this show is just incredible, and Avellone and the boyz I'm sure would have a field day.
  19. They have implied (I think) that we will indeed get feedback, but I doubt that process will start until everyone has got their stuff in. They have 171 to get through, and who knows how many of those have already been sent in. I'd like to be optimistic, but I'm betting less than half.
  20. Or in the words of the immortal Ray Arnold: "Everyone hold on to your butts."
