  1. as long as i can think, voice acting has been the most important part of any game for me - nothing makes a character more real than a good voice actor none the less i picked option nr. 2 - the budget simply is not one of a fully voiced game (sadly )
  2. What about a mute character? (yes i played alpha protocol ) i think we would be into some quite interesting situations with someone like Sis in our party! edit: damn, she really did not have enough screen time in AP :D
  3. i loved this in NWN2 and alpha protocol so yes, i am all for it!
  4. the CEO of obisdian said something about 400K words for project eternity when talking about a translation i guess expecting something along that line isn't too far off the truth
  5. No, just no. We're not the publishers. We're not even investors. We're donators (or "crowd funders" in today's seeming terms), currently with no actual legal rights over the product outside of them delivering a game that at least basically approximates what's in their pitch (fantasy rpg video game), versus, say, taking the money and running or sending us all a chiapet instead of a video game. yes, we are not publishers, i used the wrong word but i very much think we are investors, only that we don't receive a monetary reward, but a game + all the reward stuff (i strongly reject the term "donation" here - you donate something to an organisation that feeds the poor, not to a video game - we are paying for something here!) this is my line of thinking: we are giving them money on a basis of pure trust, with as you said, no legal right and especially since all this is based on trust, the very least we ALL deserve, is to be given as much insight on the product as they can (all the more since obsidian has not the best of reputations when it comes to finishing stuff - not saying it has been their fault in the past, as i simply don't know this, but it might be the case) i knew a responses like this would come, this is why i wrote this might be a too democratic view for some people just to make one thing very clear: i am very grateful towards the people who invested a lot of money into this. thank you for making this piece of art possible, but it will NOT hurt you if we who spent less also get beta access (for all who know a bit of philosophy: Pareto efficiency has to be achieved )
  6. since we guys are the publishers here (and all of us are, the majority of the funding comes from the 35$ or smaller ones, don't forget this ) i think we all deserve to see the product in it's current status every once in a while but thats just my very democratic view of it i guess
  7. so, what about us who will pay with pay pal? will we get an DRM free version too? you make it sound as if only those paying via kickstarter would get that option i sure hope thats only a wrong impression i've got
  8. well, don't forget us europeans without credit cards - pay pal payments wont show on kickstarter i'd say if they will anounce translation into other languages at some point, we might see another spike shortly after don't think we'll do much more than to crack 3 mil, all points considered
  9. the only time i ever liked achievments was in alpha protocol where you were collecting boni for your character depending on how you played and on the kind of decisions you made - thats the ONLY way to do it
  10. THIS! i'm well aware that this is beyond budget but still voice acting is what made mask of the betrayer so great (alongside that cool scene where you killed myrkul - god damn, to kill a god, how cool is THAT? :D ) this and the fact that there were such great characters voice acting is what made alpha protocol's characters so believable voice acting is what made dragon age 1 (and even more so dragon age 2) such great games, it is what made the mass effect games so fantastic you can't have enough voice acting!
  11. some early ones? why not? as long as they are not too advanced
  12. now here's an interesting idea IF the game will run on a PS3 hardware
  13. i am pretty certain not translating to at least french and spanish will lose obsidian more money than the translation would cost - those are huge markets where much of the audience isn't speaking english well enough to play the game - and i'm going as far as to say even a german translation would earn at least as much as it would cost
  14. german french and spanish (maybe russian) are a must i tried to play NWN2 in english back when it was released and when my english did pretty much suck, that was not a great experience, i switched back the language immediately this is not your one liner heavy FPS here - many people will need a translation if they are to enjoy the game with the amount of text it is going to have
  15. you know, i really liked that aspect in mass effect 1 the whole, "humens are new to it and are kind of an underdog race yet" this combined with shepard being a veteran from the very beginning made for a nice setup - something different for once
  16. i support this, but i don't think a option to turn some things off in lower difficulties would be bad i think the dnd games did this rather well normal difficulty should be symmetrical! oh and while we are at it, permadeath could be a nice thing for a possible hardcore mode
  17. i agree on the NWN 2 part - but then again, tell me a single obsidian game that didn't suck big time when it comes to camera movement (except the 2d games of course) but Dragon Age? the camera was perfect there (ok, too close in DA2 but the first one was superb)
