  1. People should be diverse, on both side of the sexes, I agree.
  2. I am always sceptical when people want some artist they like, to be making the music for whatever game/movie. I must say that the two first artists linked in this thread were very good. None of the links show any original work though, so people must check the artists out further to see if they can make music, not just play other peoples music. Any of you fans have any links to good original works of the artists you have presented? I am not talking of the band of course, I wasn't impressed at all at neither the music nor the vocals of the band, whatever they were called.
  3. Though I love the limitless size of inventory in the Gothic games and in Stonekeep (where they made a justification for it as well), I don't think it would fit the type of game Eternity seems to be. Individual inventories that are limited on size and weight would be the best, as in the IE games.
  4. I am a little wary when it comes to the system of stamina+health myself. Regenerating HP (stamina) in combat, without reasonable cause (magic of some kind), would be strange. As someoen said, you don't gain stamina from running in circles. I would go further and say that they should probably use stamina (if at all), for doing tiresome actions, not as a buffer to your health when you are hurt. Being hit with a weapon should hurt your vitality/health, not just make you more tired. They could at least call it something different, like health for normal wounds, and vitality for serious wounds, or something like that. Warhammer (pnp rpg, not crpg) has the system that loss of health in itself does not kill you, but when you are down to 0 or less you get criticals (worse as you get further under 0), that can hamper you, cripple you or kill you outright. That approach would seem the better in my opinion.
  5. I really love turn based, in the games where it works out well (temple of elemental evil is brilliant when it comes to interpretation of the 3.5 ed rules), but that is not what I want in project eternity. Changing BG+IWD+PS:T to turn based would have given the games nothing, and as I am seeing Eternity to be more in the line of these games, I can't see how it would help there either.
  6. I would like to choose for each conversation, so that my dumb uncharismatic fighter, who just happens to be at the front, don't have to try to charm the whoever we are suddenly talking to. ACtually, having someone chosen to be the "spokesperson" for the party, would not be a bad idea as a mechanic. You could have one party leader, and a spokesperson, who is as easily changed as the party leader in the IE games.
  7. I would guess such an effect would only be logical if the rings where broad and wide, and thus made moving your fingers harder for some reason. Having at least 6 rings would be no trouble (3 on each hand) in real life, as long as the rings are of "normal" size.
  8. Such childish cheats is a waste of time and has nothing to do with the game. A serious gamer doesn't use cheats to turn people into squirrels and chickens. Why so serious? Seriously though (no pun intended), I do hope you are not being that, serious that is, if games are not about fun, then what are they about? Having no humour when playing seems dull. Though I would not use such codes on my first playthorugh, they can be fun when returning to the game, and those who don't want them, can not go to the trouble of turning them on.
  9. The reasoning in the IE games to having only 2 rings, are because of a balancing issue in the AD&D system. They justify it to saying that only one ring per hand can have their power active at the same time, so that the magic doesn't interfere with each other. (Or something like this, I have my old AD&D 2nd ed. books here if we need to check ) Now because D&D has been making the standard for such things a long time, the 2 ring limit seems to be the norm. Obsidian could choose to have completely other limits though. My hope is that they justify those limits with something, I like believeability(sp?) in the games I am playing.
  10. I don't think thats what they are saying at all, they are just saying that there is no alignment system, there will be (probably) options you and I will consider evil, but you have no alignment to justify this with. That said, they do have a reputation system, which is probably more realistic. People react to who they think you are, not if you are evil inside.
  11. I agree with the OP's sentiment about staffs, the point about having nonmagical equipment being useable even when there is magical items in the mix and drunkedness is a "sure, sounds nice" in my opinion. I can add my own: "I want spears" in the game. Spears and other pole weapons have been a tremendously important weapons in warfare since the antiquity to the beginning of the gunpowder era. In a world where you still use swords, spears are a must. This has been an important thing for me since they decided to not have them in Oblivion (or was it as far back as Morrowind?) 1. XP for kills and overcoming a challenge, like talking your way past something. 2. No hard level cap (like in torment, you could get to 127th level, and when you leveled after this you just kept on being 127th level, but still got the benefits, of course HP turned around on itself after a while, but thats another story) 3. No forcing of companions on the party (NWN2 I am looking at you) 4. No level scaling, at all. When I go to the "wrong part of the world" I should be able to meet monsters I am not supposed to meet yet, and die horribly, and later I should be able to visit easier areas, and *^?# up the monsters like they were nothing. I am sure there are other important things, but most of them I think the developers have covered anyway.
  12. I was dranw in primarily beacuse of the comparison to Planescape: Torment, but I have played BG1+2 many times more than PS:T, so even if Baldur's Gate was the only game mentioned, I would have backed the project. That said, I like all the games on the poll.
  13. Thats a hard choice. The first that came to mind was Planescape: Torment, but I would miss BG1+2 and Ultima 7 (both parts) and a whole bunch of other games.
  14. I want xp for each challenge I overcome, even general killing, or I will quickly feel there is a lot less to be gained from winning a fight. I do understand that Project Eternity isn't meant to be a carbon copy of the old IE games, but not one of those games removed xp per kill, and I can't say they suffered for it, why break a good formula?
  15. I say it depends on how many stats they are going to have. If they are going for having both endurance and toughness (or equivalents), then they should use one stat for hp and one stat for stamina. If they go for the more traditional 4-6 different stats, where 1 stat measures general constitution, then I can't see any good justification to use more than 1 stat for both.
  16. Tough you are right that people should speak for themselves, reading through these posts, it seems that most of the posters do not want weighted coins. That being said, I am all for varied coins, who pays a gold coin for a piece of bread anyway?
  17. This game has been promised to be like the old IE games, and I hope they stick to that. 3d-backgrounds, rotatable cameras, cutscenes and whatnot will not help, but rather do harm to this game. Like someone said, 2d "handpainted" scenes will look more varied than 3d backgrounds made of the same set of models. Cutscenes belong in a movie, not in a game, I am sick and tired of games trying to be movies.
  18. I didn't even think of that, it seems so obvious, but still.. Is there a qoute somewhere, or did you just apply logic^tm?
  19. THe backers don't buy the game, they support its developement and as a thank you, we get a copy of the game. The difference is subtle but important. As to that, if the "masses" are gonna decide, let them decide between different options the developers present, not some random ****e name some people feels sounds nice.
  20. I am with the "get someone who fits the roles" and "don't use money on celebrities" -crowd. If Melissa Disney works well for a character that is important enough to have spoken lines, then why not, if not, there is no reason to make a character that fits her voice, just to get her voice into the game.
  21. Hi Hans, I wanted to ask you about your title but then I forgot. Do You really want to be the "pervert" of the Obsidian Order? I don't want to sound prude, but I am not sure if that is an appropriate title. Well, for me I think its just as appropriate as "the harlot" for example, but if you feel it is inappropriate you could call me "True Dreamer of the Obsidian Order" instead.
  22. Not to be impatient, but it seems as you forgot me in your list. Have pledged the extra 8 and posted.
  23. I have pledged the 8 extra $, I am Hans Kristian S Gustavsen at kickstarter. If "Pervert of the the Obsidian Order of Eternity" isn't too explicit, thats who I am. If it is, you can call me whatever
  24. This is actually a big problem in Germany, the largest single market for PC games in Europe. A game that includes explicit child murder *could* very, very (very) likely be banned in Germany if it is not cut out of the game. Thinking about how Germany thought about cencoring anything after WWII and more after the cold war, I am sad to see how they have become so prone to cencoring stuff again. But you know what? ****-explicit deleted (Self cencor, oh the irony) Germany, let the rest of Europe which don't have silly cencor laws have the full product. In the first fallout game, children were removed from the europan version because of Germany...
  25. Immortal characters (Except if logical within the story) is silly. And children should probably be a part of the world Obsidian is making, except if they clone themselves or someting like that
