  1. I thought Tomb Raider was pretty good. And I'd pick Arkham City over Arkham Asylum. Nothing like the freedom of beating the piss out of gangs on the rooftops.
  2. I find his writing to be overly snarky.
  3. It's a good game. I might go for a second run.
  4. People really care about the Steam cards? ...Wow.
  5. With the black magic they used on the Aurora engine for the first game, it would take a miracle to get that thing on consoles.
  6. Yeah, video games are 'tapping' into the father/daughter aspect just like anime is..*cough* Not that it's invalid, just predictable. The doe-eyed chick from Last of Us might as well be a cyborg from Gun Slinger Girl. Games tend to be pretty late to the originality party, so it's no surprise to see them copying other mediums.
  7. Some of these vids have altered my stance a bit. I do agree that when confronted, officers need to rise above impulsive power plays. The Swedish, Finnish and Russian comparison is particularity insightful. I'm fairly certain those types of scenarios in the U.S would end up with someone getting shot.
  8. In some cultures there's just no escaping nutjob religious ideals.
  9. You can't negotiate with extremists. And yeah, the supreme irony is the greatest threat to muslims is usually other muslims, but they blame the west for everything even as they migrate there.
  10. You mean the same argument that jealous EA rep made? The numbers make a stronger argument for me. Steam and GOG no doubt have to negotiate sale prices with the devs. Given how prevalent digital is becoming, and how long companies like Steam have been around, I don't see it going away any time soon, nor do I see devs complaining about it.
  11. It's not just the superiority of PC as a platform, it's that PC is a more progressive market, especially with the onset of digital distribution, something consoles have been woefully slow to embrace. Everyone, from developers to customers, have more options on PC. It's the console business models that are outdated, out moded, and not really good for the industry as a whole. Outmoded maybe, but I have serious doubts that the current freemium/steam sale trends are actually good for the industry in any sense. Why not?
  12. I hate the fourth as well. Too much f*cking noise. And get off my lawn, you hooligans.
  13. I'll admit to having a bias, it's very frustrating to me that there are tax funded criminal running about against who you are not allowed to defend yourself and that there is little chance of legal action taken against them. I'm aware that there are decent people in the service, although at the same time I feel there is something very flawed about the system if a cop like Donner who had and exemplary service record and character references felt that his only recourse was to go on a cop killing spree. Plus, i'm disappointing that there were no reforms that rose from that incident. There are far more criminals in the general population than in the police force, unless you live in some sort of autocratic police state.

  15. You can tell all the bad cop anecdotal stories you want, I'm not swayed in empathizing what they have to go through. I lived near the worst part of Philly for four years and I saw cop/community relations on a daily basis. People are expecting clean cut results from a job where you can get killed any day of the week.
  16. America has some of the worst crime in the world. Our police labor under extreme and constant stress in high crime areas. They see the absolute worst of humanity on a daily basis. Random cell phone camera footage is mostly good for showing things out of context. Half of the police 'brutality' clips out there are caused by idiots resisting arrest or just plain asking for it. As for the dogs getting shot, that can and should be avoided by using pepper spray. All police are equipped with it, shooting them is rarely necessary. Yup... Totally had it comin. Yeah, injustice such as this never happens in other countries, so let's all gang up on 'Merica. I'm not saying the cops in the U.S. are perfect, I'm saying they have it worse than most other places. But it's popular to buck authority as some posts here suggest..
  17. They routinely put their lives on the line. I know I don't do that much. Like I said, many times perps make incidents worse by simply not doing what they're told at the time. That is plain stupid. If the cops have their tasers or guns drawn and ask you to do something, then do it. If you fight back or antagonize them, I don't feel sorry one bit if you get hurt.

As for the dogs getting shot, that can and should be avoided by using pepper spray. All police are equipped with it, shooting them is rarely necessary. Is asking the reasons why you're being detained considered resisting arrest? Or maybe not putting your arms behind your back because one of the officers broke it? Or maybe being face down on the ground, cuffed with a police officer's knee on your back is grounds to be tasered? I'm even surprised that someone would even try to defend those actions. If they are unable to cope with the realities of their job without falling into abuse then they should be declared unfit and discharged before the end up creating more criminals. In that particular case it seems to me he was initially resisting arrest but they were also being excessive. All I'm saying is try to consider the context of what is happening in these vids. I mean at first he just tells them to f*ck off, not what I would do if I was being arrested. Then his girlfriend is pestering them the entire time, not complying with their requests at all.

  20. I did not get this impression at all. Mostly because I found Batman's combat to omgbbq fun, while The Witcher it was not so much. Batman is about chaining a multitude of hits and neither he nor his enemies really have any sense of "preventing" opposition attacks, with the exception of Batman's counter. The whole combat system is literally designed around multiple hostiles and it flows so well. The Witcher's was a lot of tumbling trying to get an attack on the flanks and Geralt becomes exceedingly vulnerable with multiple hostiles. Due to the multiple hostiles, Batman's combat has a plethora of autoaiming to assist the player, while it's not uncommon for me to forget that Geralt attacks the direction he's facing, so I sweet tumble into... attacking the air... They didn't quite nail the free flow aspect of Arkham because enemy AI is far too agressive and they block after about 3 hits no matter what. Plus, Geralt's riposte is still risky, so no safe counters either. Signs, bombs and traps are meant to take up the slack here. I thought aiming was fine, but you run out of options ( vigor) pretty damn quick, especially on hard modes. So the changes they are making in TW3 are most welcome for me. Everything has been tweaked.
  21. They promised a better PC port this time. We better get it. Because they made concessions to the bloody gamepad in TW2. The UI was an abomination.
  22. I haven't heard them say PC is lead platform for TW3. They seem to be shying away from that stance, actually. They were all about it with W1.
  23. Women: shave all your pubic hair Men: handle bar moustaches are retarded
