  1. It worked well enough in Baldur's Gate so sure why not?
  2. Anything but Vancian. You should have your full library of spells available to you at all times. Find some other limiting factor. All Vancian accomplishes is making it so some spells will never get used since they aren't as useful in most circumstances as generic combat spell #12 unless you cheat and look up in a faq when some situational spell will actually be useful.
  3. Just an FYI, the Kickstarter fund is in fact going to fully fund Project Eternity. Also no Kickstarter funds are used towards Kick it Forward.
  4. I tried to vote no but it wouldn't let me since I didn't vote in any of the other polls. I want no item durability so it should go without saying that I don't want item repair. You should have the polls reflect that choice.
  5. I voted for both, however I don't expect to walk into a merchants shop and do much bartering. I'm more thinking of bartering being good when dealing with tribals and the like.
  6. Eh, I don't think they need to go with various degrees of what race a character is. I basically see it as no matter what degree of the race you are as long as you're showing traits of both you're considered a half breed. You could still be a Half-Elf if your great grandmother was an Elf as long as you still maintain the Elf traits. Once you no longer have strong Elf traits then you're just considered Human.
  7. It isn't just a matter of "trouble." A dev already officially confirmed that adding decent MP requires concessions on the single-player side. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE for the primary audience of single-player games; MP is still the minority for the target audience in this case. The exact quote is further up and in the "single-player is our focus" thread. On the other hand, if it's tacked on as an afterthought and doesn't impede the design of single-player content in any way, that's fine with me. He said it might require concessions.
  8. For the 3rd poll I selected other. Other stood for pretty much all of the above.
  9. Did you ever play multiplayer in Baldur's Gate? If not then you clearly don't know what people are asking for. This goes to everybody who's so vehemently opposed to multiplayer. NOBODY is asking for the crap we see in the likes of Mass Effect 3.
  10. I said yes/possibly. Specifically, I'd like the option to do multiplayer much like Baldur's Gate allowed for it.
  11. For all we know it could be the fact that lead can bypass the arcane veil and a lead melee weapon would be a bad idea. It's too soft to make an effective sword or axe and it's also freakin' heavy.
  12. If I recall, firearms in this setting are much closer range than what you I think are suggesting. I don't mean snipers, if that's what you're suggesting. Archers in RPGs are often your most optimal mage-killers in combat encounters, from the old infinity engine games through to the likes of Dragon Age. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a firearm to have the same range as a shortbow and fill much the same role in combat. I'm basing what I'm saying off of this quote from the Kickstarter update: Note the bolded.
  13. I'd like to stress that there should be a number of portraits available for the player to choose for their characters that are not in use by any NPCs. The reason? I always have to kill Garrick in Baldur's Gate since I don't want somebody with my characters face walking around.
  14. If I recall, firearms in this setting are much closer range than what you I think are suggesting.
  15. You can actually experience the IE games in higher resolutions. GoG actually has a guide on their website for Planescape: Torment. And the resolution mod, I believe, works on all IE games. I say this as someone that played through BG1 & 2 for the first time a couple years ago. That's definitely something to spread around to anyone wanting to experience the games for the first time, or even just play through them again in a higher resolution. Definitely something to do if you're trying to stave off Project Eternity hunger pangs. This is indeed correct. I set up Baldur's Gate on my PC a year ago and installed the widescreen mod on it. Started playing it due to the enhanced editions delay.
  16. I do declare, we are getting trolled. Possibly, but it's equally possible that he really means what he's saying. I've seen his like before. People who actually think that what's happened to RPGs in recent years is actually progress and that isometric is gone because it's somehow outdated. These same people think 2D sprites are inherently inferior to 3D polygonal models.
  17. No there wasn't a party system in New Vegas. There was a system where you controlled your one character and then AI did what it wanted with your party members. Go play Baldur's Gate, go play Planescape: Torment, go play Icewind Dale. THAT is a party system.
  18. What we've seen in modern RPGs isn't streamlining or evolution. It's simply appealing to the masses who want every game to be generic FPS #7348732 This game is for us who miss the old IE games and yes, that means fixed isometric camera. They were very up front about this in the kickstarter video and if they weren't I'm not so sure I would have pledged. Seems to me you would prefer an Elder Scrolls style game rather than what this game is. This is a party based cRPG. First person just doesn't work for that. Anyways, it seems to me that you're asking for a massive dumbing down of the game so that it's like any other game being made today. If they wanted to make a game like that then they wouldn't have had issues getting a publisher.
  19. I've always preferred new game+ over the game continuing after it's over. Let me keep my levels and equipment.
  20. I never suggested it be the only evil options, don't know how you got that impression.
  21. I like this idea, but I also like the idea of having to prepare spells in advance. So, imagine a crafting system where spells need to be mixed before use (by combining magical components), and you can only cast the spells you've previously made. But you can invent new spells by mixing together different components in new ways. I'm not talking about discovering pre-designed spells (like Ultima Underworld), but by having each component and means of preparation impart different abilities - like how alchemy works in Skyrim. Then, as the mage grows more powerful, he might learn new methods of preparation, or might become more effective at preparation, or might gain the ability to use more different ingredients in combination at a time. You know, I really like this idea. You could build a whole game around this. Seems like it'd be far more effective for a game in itself for what is being described here. Getting way too complex for a game like this.
  22. Part of the reason people don't play the evil path is because evil is always so poorly written. It's almost always portrayed as being a pathetic thug or cartoonishly evil.
  23. Yeah, Suikoden I, II and V did do a great job with the games castles. Really gave it a sense of use and importance. Suikoden V though really should have given you your castle sooner than it did.
  24. Stun? I get it, you don't like anything but Vancian. However explain how what I suggested would be at all unbalanced? You claimed that an MP system is unbalanced so I gave a different suggestion. All you are doing now is not explaining how it's bad, rather you just resulted to talking down the opposition to Vancian without actually saying why other suggestions are bad. You're simply dismissing anything but Vancian and that's not condusive to discussion.
