  1. As long as it is completely optional, then i don't care. I'll fill my party up with interesting characters written by the man behind Torment, and others can fill their's with empty sprites. S'ALL GOOD MAYNG, WE ALL GET WHAT WE WANT.
  2. You seem to think that art design isn't somehow limited by graphical prowess. Without said prowess, we would be looking at an assortment of pea sized pixels. Graphics and art design overlap in significant ways. Trine 2's art design wouldn't have worked nearly as well without the vibrant lighting effects, or example. It was pivotal to the game's artstyle. If adding a variety of post-processing effects to the game will make the game closer to it's intended atmosphere and general artistic concept, then it is of level importance to gameplay and writing imo.
  3. The atmosphere is just as important as the gameplay mechanics imo. The art, and how this art is implemented, is a topic worthy of in-depth, long winded discussion.
  4. Personally, I don't think ME2 qualifies as an RPG. It's a 3rd person shooter with some slight RPG elements. It gives you a character that you can customize the ideals, motivations, personality etc. of. Role-playing games only need the ability for you to role-play a character for it to considered part of the genre; as the title makes explicit. On-topic: Dragon Age Origins.
  5. *rabblerabblerabble* I WANT ANDROGYNOUS SPECIES *rabblerabblerabble* FEMINAZIS BE ALL UP IN MY PREFERENCES *rabblerabblerabble* This place is as bad as the ****ing BSN. Only on the Witcher forums have i seen this discussion taken on with some semblance of civility.
  6. Of course it's subjective. It's precisely why i made the topic; to see other's subjective preferences on the topic at hand.
  7. Well, i definitely can't agree with that. Well you can always go play Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age 2. Naaw, how cute. Such a typical response from one who has just awakened to the fact that his opinion doesn't seem to be universal.
  8. Do you think a game can have too much content? To me, there is nothing worse than a game that just drags on. The pacing of a story based game is crucial, and dragging it on to a point where the plot slowly creeps forward with no end in sight is where i usually stop playing. It's okay for games like Skyrim, where there is no story cohesion nor pacing; just you playing in a sand pit with awesome but independent toys. I've been worrying about this new city, and whether or not it will be optional or it will be built into the main plot. More content definitely doesn't equal a better game imo. What do you guys think?
  9. You must have loved DA2 OP. Hawke was quite the impotent companion to our main man Anders.
  10. I've always been one of the rare few who is completely indifferent to Freeman's voice. His voice seriously sounds completely unremarkable to me.
  11. Does anyone else agree that this screenshot looks a lot like the Elven Baths from The Witcher 2? I immediately thought of Flotsam Forest upon seeing this screenshot.
  12. I hope that, despite it being 2D, there is still a lot of environmental animation. One thing i didn't like about the old IE games was that i often felt like i was walking through a painting, as opposed to an actual environment.
  13. Definitely plot. I can't actually play Skyrim because of how horridly shallow it's writing is, despite it having an amazing world.
  14. Good stuff. Level scaling adds far more freedom to the game.
  15. WHO GIVES A ****. Authors can take WHATEVER artistic freedom they want with THEIR game. Realism can go jump for all i care. This is a fictional universe for godsake. PE is going for a realistic approach, and that's great. But if you wish to extend this sentiment to every game out there, then i cannot disagree more forcefully.
  16. Good to hear. I'm relieved to hear that you're providing difficulty tweaking, as i thought you may have gone down the path Dark Souls did; but with an even harder difficulty.
  17. I tend to agree with you. If diplomatic options are available that lead to rewarding alternative paths , then it is fine. But if they are gonna remain the antagonist and you are forced to ultimately clash with them in some form or another it can just be frustrating. You should be able to understand why an antagonist is doing something. But to sympathize with them will cause you to want to help them or deal with them in an alternative way ( that is the case for me at least). Which would make the confrontation even more emotional. The concept of an unstoppable force colliding with an immovable object is a good one. You may sympathize with the villain, but his goals may be completely contrary to yours. Just because you like him doesn't mean you should be able to talk him down. It depends entirely on context.
  18. Karphyn's ME novels are poorly done. The writing is very amateurish, and his stories are extremely cliche. The dialogue honestly had me rolling my eyes on a regular basis. I liked Gaider's novels much better. He has a much better grasp of the english language and his latest novel was very well paced. I honestly think Avellone will hit it out the park.
  19. Letho and Loghain would have to be my favourite antagonists. They're just guys with different view points, and different goals. The absolute last thing i want in this game is for someone with a twirled mustache whom owns a couple kittens with broken ribs. Irenicus is the kind of villain whom i think should be left in the past. Sure, there was a catalyst for his mustache twirling, but he was still twirling that mustache. I don't like black and white characters.
  20. You really want this game to be brutal don't you. I would lol so hard if i sent a companion back to my home and find out he just arbitrarily decided to frolick off by himself to some unknown location. Then i'd reload my game.
