Then for you, and everyone that agrees with this point, you can just toggle off the option. If you're worried about being tempted into it, then al;l I have to say is, the next time you level up, put a few more points into your willpower.

of ranger bondage

I could see using the bog standard classes, though I think it might be neat to rename and refluff them. I also hope their will be 'kits'. Edit: So, for instance, if I want to play a martial artist that is just a street thug, I could go to "Monk" and pick something like "street tough" kit. So instead of having a rigidly trained, well disciplined badass, I've got something closer to a thug. -
"I swear to the damned Gods, [player character], if you go telling me to take my shirt off one more time, I am stabbing you in the crotch!" On a related note, I don't think it will matter too much, because of size and shape of models; but I am also one of the paper that likes to play dress up with his characters. At the very least, I want a four color system (kind of like the coloring system in IwD and BG and such). Four different colored areas on stuff, and a nice long list of colors. It would be even more awesome if I could just inoput an html code for the colors.

How should magic work?
HangedMan replied to fan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
For the second one, I picked other, because I'd like to blend the first two together. I would like spell casters to be highly vulnerable while they are casting their spells (with minor cantrips being quick, and stuff like hurling around meteorites taking upwards of a full minute), however, I would also like them to have the option of not-sucking at melee, too. -

Something else: Something like Crossroad Keep from NWN2. I suppose that might be a 'Fortress', but I want their to be a town and such. And, especially, one that I can shape and develop to some degree. A lot more freedom than the one in NWN2. Also, I believe their is another thread on this very same subject floating around. It might be best if they get merged.

I didn't spend the entire duration of Lonesome Road getting bitched at by Ulysses about the importance of symbols and understanding their meaning to hear Mr. Chris Avellone say the logo doesn't matter. That made me laugh quite a lot for some reason All this and the fact that Ouroboros just makes me think of Red Dwarf. xD Makes me think of Doctor Borous. And then I think of Nightstalkers. And then I think of Roboscorpions. Then I think of Mobius. Then I think of pudding. MMmmmmm, pudding! Thgis game needs pudding.

Urgency: Please Have It

A great idea. It would be even better if you could choose story difficulty, too. On higher difficulties, time limits could be harsher, the consequences more dire, and bad things would happen to good people way more often. Yes! Exactly. Really, in my ideal game, and I know I'm pretty much taking this to a logical extreme, their'd be like a list of thirty or forty things to check off/on, so that I could create my own, custom difficulty level/experience. -
Oh, god, this is a brilliant idea. I might just yank this idea for a homebrew game I'm working on, if you don't mind.

Urgency: Please Have It
HangedMan replied to Zombra's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What iof their could be something like a Time mode? I.e. when you first start the game, you can choose for things to be time sensitive, or to just disable the time counter for the quests. That way, both sides can be happy; those who want it can have it, and those that don't can just put a checkmark in the box, and continue on their merry way. I like this. -
How about make it so that their are such shouted challenges that can work some of the time, and it's just a roll? A skill check against the opponents Will save or equivalent stat; if they fail it, they're drawn in by the taunts and such. If not, they keep their wits about them, and realize that it's just a ploy.

Their's a lot of dark places I'd personally like to see explored. One thing I have only ever seen once is the topic of child abuse, and how monstrous it is. In the remake of Tactics Ogre, one of the characters goes off on a minor rant about his father being an abusive drunkard. I thought it was rather brilliantly done, and fit well into the darkness of the game. On the topic of racism, I think especially a fantasy game is a safe way to explore and view the concept from both sides; the side of the discriminater, and the discriminated. You could easily play through as one race, and occasionally make an "Oh, just ignore [person], they're just being a [race]." And then you play as that race, and you have to deal with people saying the same sorts of things you could've/did say. Going back to Tactics Ogre, the Walister clan in that game were killed off by the Galgastani in a Blood War, something that borrowed a few pages from the Armenian genocide by Turks, and evoked a lot of images of Nazi Germany ghettoes for Jews. Another thing I typically like seeing explored, and coming at the risk of sounding morbid, is death, and more specifically, murder and martyrdom. How do people deal with it? How do people justify it? Presumably, when you play this game, you will be killing people. What do you do when a child draws a dagger on you in public, and tries to kill you, because you killed his father? Because, because of you, his mother took ill, and passed on? How know, he lives in the gutters and dregs of society, barely able to fend for himself, and going on nothing but the rage and anger that comes from knowing that the actions of one man/woman/thing were responsible for his entire life being destroyed. How do you deal with the shock and devastation of a botched mission that culminates in one of your companions remaining behind, buying time for the others to escape? Someone knowingly and willingly facing death, for the sake of his compatriots. How do you honor that sacrifice? How do you deal with the trauma that other party members will feel? When people start blaming you and putting their death on your head, do you dismiss it? Get enraged? How about depressed and taking a blow to the self-conscious? In the end, I am a person who likes strong feelings. All emotions, really, the good and the bad ones. And I just, in the end, want to see these things explored; I want this game to make me feel. But, not just bad; I don't want it to be a black and blacker world where everything sucks. I just bring up the darker things because, from personal experience, it's a lot harder for others to go there, but much easier for them to cover the lighter aspects.

Companions that offer practical skills beyond combat abilities. Mind you, I don't want something like in New Vegas where you have veronica and Ed-e as portable crafting stations. More like... well, if one of your companions is a street thug, he should be able to pitch in and make your Intimidation better. Something like "(While cracking knuckles) When the boss is angry, I'm angry. And you won't like what the both of us can do when we're right angry, savvy, boyo?" Which, you know, is actually a horrible idea on its own, but at least it gives some idea of what I'm talking about.

Sex and Romance Poll
HangedMan replied to Troller's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Can I have my ample cleavage with an equal amount of intellect? Also, this. Very much this. And the great thing about a Kickstarter project is that you can do something like this, without having to worry about making publishers and such angsty about what you're doing. -
Exploration System

A thousand times this. -
I think their could be something interesting done with it being an epilogue thing. And if their are sequels, maybe you get to play the son/daughter/spawn of the main character from the first? Could be interesting to have an origins like childhood segment for the character in question, where they have to deal with some of the things their parent(s) did. Also, maybe some passive bonuses to skills; for instance, if your mother was a highly ranked swordswoman, their son might be a true natural at using a sword in combat. Both parents were Vulcan-like in their logicality? Big bonuses to intellectual spheres, Diplomacy, and the like, with maybe some downside due to having shallow emotional development. Maybe the kid feels alienated because he just doesn't understand what motivates the people around him (emotions). I do agree, however, that such a system would require a lot of work; maybe even more than it's worth. Ah well, one can dream.

Is their someway we can fuse these two ideas together? That's what I think would be the most awesome, imo.

Morality System
HangedMan replied to Skyhawk02's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, this was pretty much my own two cents on the matter. I like this idea, a whole heck of a lot. You could even get stat bonuses to some things; for instance, are you always calm, logical, and reasonable? Then you'd get a point or two towards Diplomacy. Not only because you're good at handling this skill, but because other peoples perception of your unbiased opinion and calm demeanor make them more likely to accept what you have to say. Meanwhile, are you MISTER RAGE WHO ALWAYS SHOUTS!? Intimidation goes up, because people know better than to try and upset you. Also, because you're simply better at cowing people after you've done it enough times. -
This is more or less my exact thoughts on the matter. It wouldn't be realistic for their to be an entire lack of sex-appeal characters (male and female alike), but variety in body shapes would be nice. Additional thought: something like what oblivion/Skyrim/Fallout 3/NV does might be pretty cool, where we can tweak all sorts of parameters for the main character's appearence.

Especially with the option to mock them and gloat. (But if you do that very often, your enemies might hear about how you tend to do that, and set up a fake ambush to ambush you as you ambush the fake ambushers. (Ambushception!) Then mock you and gloat.) Ambushception? That is now going into my vocabulary. Thank you for the word! Also, I love the idea of arrogance being able to backfire on the player.
