  1. I'm going to go ahead and assume this is parody in order to maintain my fragile faith in humanity. >.>
  2. This would be quite cool, IWD had fantastic portraits (I personally didn't like BG's all that much).
  3. I'd like to see classes that combine features from the "traditional" classes. How about: Guardian (Tank + Party Buffs + heals over time) Earthwalker (Summoner + Debuffer + largest single-target heals) Arcanist (AOE damage + locks/traps) Skirmisher (Single target combat damage + single target debuffs + single target crowd control) Dreamer (Mass crowd control + Damage over time + instant-death) Ambusher (fast movement + stealth + fastest attacks) That's a good idea. I could see them moving in this direction.
  4. An interesting idea might be something like Demon's/Dark Souls where your class dictates your initial stats and equipment, but you can build yourself however you want afterwards.
  5. How... how would that even make sense? You talk to any NPC. In addition to the normal dialog options, you get an 'ask him to join the party' option. If he joins the party he starts out level 1 with basic stats for his race/class. Not rocket science I'd think.... While I can't see random peasants joining you to go get killed by vengeanceghosts, a mind control spell would be awesome. :D
  6. I think that was his point, that a lot of people are complaining about things because it's not how Baldur's Gate or the other D&D games did it.
  7. Mm, cake... Sorry, what? Oh yeah, good interview. I also quite like the sound of taking our heroes through future adventures, BG (or ME) style. One thing that I find interesting though is that they're aiming for a franchise, which means they could end up as a full-fledged indie development studio. That'd be sweet. :D
  8. Link Sounds nice. Like a lot of the world building, enough to spice it up while still feeling familiar.
  9. I probably compare thngs to Arcanum too much, but I'd love to see a more sophisticated version of the Fatigue system for that game. So maybe running at high speeds, dodging, attacking, etc. drains the same sort of energy magic does. So kinda like Exhaustion in the poll, yeah. Spell combos would be sweet.
  10. Woah, I didn't know he was Minsc. Between Minsc, The Master, and Winnie The Pooh, he's got quite a range.
  11. I'd like to see a first person journal like in PS:T or Arcanum, combined with the ability to write your own stuff. So basically what you said. Ooh, I like this even more.
  12. Yknow despite Felicia Day's star power, Veronica is one of the few cases where a German voice actor did it better for exactly that reason. Felicia Day's delivery did give the impression that Veronica was expecting a "Ba-dum-TSSSS" and a laugh track after each of her jokes, the German voice actress delivered the lines with more of a fun-loving persona and with dry humor, AKA not expecting or demanding laughter but just making the jokes because she wants to. Raul's humor was best humor though. Who the hell knew Danny Trejo has such great comedic delivery? Raul was amazing. "Sure, boss. I'd be happy to prolong my captivity and psychological abuse to tighten some lug nuts for you." Gannon was great as well.
  13. I agree. I actually loved her character, but I'm still pretty tired of that whole archetype. Also the "tomboy who wants a dress in order to feel like a woman" is another thing that ties into that, which I'm also tired of.
  14. Why yes, I do :D That'd be great. Kinda like how the classes work in Geneforge, where everyone can technically do everything, but some are way better at some things than others.
  15. Who else likes when non-active party members get XP? It allows me to experiment with party make-up, instead of being stuck with the same guys throughout the game or being forced to tediously grind if I want to level an unused guy. Also, I have no idea where you're getting these conclusions from. Like I said the stink of Bioware. When you can only have 2-3 companions in your party this system is the comprise. Actually, I was thinking of the way Freedom Force did it (inactive heroes got less XP, but still got some) but carry on. Clearly it's impossible to make a good RPG that isn't a clone of Baldur's Gate, so I bow to your superior knowledge.
  16. I believe New Vegas was QA'd by Bethesda, so there's that too (and the GameBryo engine is notoriously crappy anyway). Bah! Ninja'd.
  17. He's staring into my soul... judging... Why...
  18. I for one really like the sound of the soul mechanic. It's a nice way of tying higher themes into the gameplay via magic, as well as giving a decent explanation for what magic is ("It's magic!" Does not count).

  20. Yeah, there's no way it'll reach 10 mil. But if it does I'll be expecting statues of the team, made out of cookies.
  21. If they somehow get above ten mil I will be expecting cookies to come with my game download... somehow. Or a life-sized statue of Chris, Tim, and J.E. That'd be cool too. ;P
  22. Arcanum did that, more or less.
  23. Perhaps it's a world where dragons used to be common but then they all disappeared/went extinct for some reason ... but they're still a big part of the lore/culture in terms of symbols, rituals, legends/prophecy, and so on. ^Ooh, I like this. Could tie into the Orobouros they've been using as a logo, too. Developing on this concept, what about a world falling apart? The dragons were basically gods/spirits, but they vanished. Since then the world's been sliding towards its doom, as some people still worship the dragons to try to get them to come back, and some people turn to darker gods.. Of course, I'm sure whatever they do will be completely different, but still. Yeah, I agree. I think the best route is to take inspiration more from the Eastern nature spirit-esque godish dragons, as opposed to the Western ones.
  24. Yes, but only if it's integrated into the world somehow (books, expositional dialog, sidequests, whatever). I'm not a fan of codexes, as it's always felt kind of like, "Well, we're a bit too lazy to actually incorporate this into our game, so have an info dump!". Maybe I'm just cynical.
