  1. This is just a game, not a martial arts simulator. Its set in a fantasy world, with fantasy being. Did any of you guys wrote strong letters to the producers after watching Armageddon? Complaining that its impossible for the space shuttle to leave low earth orbit and asteroid's debris don't have GPS. I didn't. I knew those facts but I also knew that sometimes you have to separate reality from entertainment for it to be entertaining.
  2. You do realize Kickstarter have yet to charge your credit card right. All pledge will only be made after the campaign is over, and Kickstarter start charging all the credit cards. There will be some people who might face problems here and so on. Once everything settles, then we can start thinking of it.
  3. Usually at this point, that's where it stops. You don't want to have a bunch of goals that wasn't attained so you need to find a point to stop.
  4. I thought George Ziets was their last ace up the sleeves, but they really brought out the big guns here. I think we will see a surge that takes us there.
  5. So, anyway here's what I think about the screenshot. I think its amazing that they are utilizing the latest computational power to create such a realistic looking scene. It really does give a new breath of life to the concept of pre-rendered background. it makes it feel current. Pre-render scene takes computational time too and so there was a limit to the quality of pre-rendered scenes done 5-10 years ago. With this improved quality, despite the fact that its pre-rendered, really does make this concept feels current. Anyway, the challenge now would be the real time rendered part. They need to be of such amazing quality to allow them to fit into such realistic background. I'm sure it kills the experience if the background is realistic but the characters are walking blocks. But I have absolute trust in Obsidian to get everything right. This screenshot shows that they are not skimping on anything. Well done Obsidian! Keep it up.
  6. I hope so too. I recall there were some pre-rendred backdrop scene in Final Fantasy 7 with animated waterfall. If they can achieve that, I think it should be a no big deal today.
  7. This for me is the biggest thing about Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity that I've pledge. I know there have been kickstarter projects that have successfully been completed such as Faster Than Light, but I think Wasteland 2 is the first big project that have the potential to be bigger than what an indie game would normally be, and then of course comes other projects too like PE in 2014. So I'm excited to see the real result of a strong crowd funded project.
  8. I agree it would be convenient, but I have doubts that Kickstarter would do that, as they have repeatedly stress that Kickstarter is not an online store.
  9. Personally I don't think that's surprising. I mean the internet community, gamer community or any community for that matter, is not a single entity. Its made up of different people and different people have different opinion. I don't see why we would expect a community to agree unanimously on anything. There will always be people with opposing views and personally I don't see that as a problem. In fact I think its good to have opinions from others who see the same thing from a different perspective, as it ensures that all possibilities are explored, all pros and cons are explored, and we need a community of people with different views to do that. So while I disagree with the thread starter, I am glad he's voicing out his views. In ensures that something is being evaluated from all possible angles.
  10. Thanks for the update. I'm glad you mentioned the pledge addition because I was afraid that there's some confusion since Wasteland 2 have both feature that allows backer to add their pledge, as well as new people to support them by buying a whole package.
  11. oh yeah baby, announce it! announce it all over my face and chest! LOL We have 7 days left to raise another 300k. I think its doable. So long as most of the backers do want Ziets on the team, it will happen.
  12. Thanks man. I'm one of those who can only afford a smaller tier right now, but would love to upgrade later on. Hopefully it happens.
  13. I've asked them similar question, but unfortunately they cannot confirm it at the moment. This was the email response --- I've asked about this on their tweeter It was the same with Wasteland 2 which I donated through Paypal as well. By just sending your money through Paypal, they will get our email address from the Paypal transaction. Later on, they will simply contact us through this list of email they have. They cannot contact you now because people may still be pledging and so they have to wait until its over, then they will roll out the email to everyone in the list.
  14. Different people have different views on the matter. Do I believe that there would be an expansion pack? Yes I always did. (and thankfully not DLC, I hate those). But if you ask me do I think they should announce it now before the project is done? I'd probably hesitate. There are people who would be excited, but there will also be those who takes it the wrong way and feel that they are being left out after donating something to help the project and not get part of it. I'm glad Obsidian are being honest with us because I think most big Kickstarter projects will have expansions or DLC, the dev probably don't want to talk about it now for good reason. As for Wasteland 2, c'mon man, that's no big deal. Its not like Obsidian have to help develop Wasteland 2 or anything. Brian Fargo is just offering to give a copy to anyone who help support PE that much, where's the harm in that?
  15. I had the same question and email Obisidan about the possibility to up our pledge, and they say they are looking into it but cannot promise anything yet. So for now we just have to pledge what we can, and hopefully there will be a system to upgrade in the future. IF, there will be such system, then yes of course you can upgrade to higher tier and get all the rewards of that tier.
  16. I doubt this game will get much appreciation from MOST of the console crowd anyway. I say most because I know there are those more mature adults who owns a console too, and probably a small group of young gamer who could appreciate a complex isometric RPG game like this. But that group is probably too small to make the effort worth it. And when you consider that fact that this game wouldn't need the most powerful PC and you can probably play it on most PC or laptop, its hard to justify the additional time and money for it.
  17. I agree that being able to manipulate the game using console commands does make things more interesting, whether its for gameplay purposes or to modify some technical detail. Mods, thats extremely important. Unfortunately we don't seem a tool to support it. Modding capabilities is one of the most important thing in a video game, because not only it allow fans to create new content that can be shared with everyone, it also allows the community to fix the game where the dev fails to do so, and this is super important.
  18. Kickstarter website have got absolutely nothing to do with Paypal. You are not paying on behalf of your Kickstarter account. You are paying directly to Obsidian. We will be identified by our Paypal email address.
  19. That is very ignorant. If you are going to hand over 10,000 dollars, you really ought to know what you are doing.
