  1. Actually I believe trans is humanities third gender. I don't believe this opinion dehumanizes trans persons, nor means I have any hatred towards them, it simply means I think they are different. It is because of this difference that I believe it is deceitful for one such person to not disclose (in this instance) that they weren't born female. I believe if a person wholeheartedly believes they were born with the wrong genitals, then they have every right (and I applaud their decision) to transition towards what makes them happy and healthy. It just also means I may disagree with what their new gender is. Fine. The point being, the fundamental difference between us is that you don't accept them as their stated gender and I do.
  2. I would like at this point to note again that the message in question is not a part of Obsidian's artistic vision for their product; it is a backer message put in because the person in question paid for it. We're talking about a commercial, not an installation in a modern art museum.
  3. Given that enough people have an issue with a romantic relationship with a bigot, it seems to me like it's doubly the responsibility of the person who doesn't want to sleep with trans people they're otherwise attracted to make that clear in advance to all their prospective partners. After all, I can't properly give consent if you don't tell me up front, unprompted, that you wouldn't sleep with someone who told you they were trans.
  4. It's not just the numbers; it's also what enemies show up in an encounter. Some of them will be tougher than you get a difficulty level down. So on easy I get a baby wolf, on normal I get the wolf and its big brother, and on hard the mom shows up too, for example.
  5. While in a perfect world you're right, I have to admit that the real world isn't there yet. If it were the transgendered person wouldn't have to fear violence upon revealing that they were transgendered (indeed no one would expect or need to have that revelation in the first place). One could argue if our society didn't tie masculinity so heavily to promiscuous bedding of females this wouldn't matter, but there's a whole societal piece in the real world that just isn't there (whether it is in PoE I'm not far along enough to say). Sure, it's definitely not there yet, and misogyny and homophobia definitely play a part in the general societal view of trans people and their responsibilities. I think that arguing against the idea that trans people aren't really their presented gender is an important part of getting there, though, not to mention suggesting "hey, maybe consider it from her perspective."
  6. I'm having critical issues with the game that mean I've shelved it until it's patched. I'm not complaining about this.
  7. The patch should fix the stat problems (or at least most of them) on current saves, yeah.
  8. No, I think the fundamental disagreement is that you think trans people are actually the gender they were assigned at birth (or at least subpar versions of their preferred gender) and thus have a responsibility to tell people all about their history, while I think that someone's past medical treatments are a private matter I don't need to know about if they don't want to tell me.
  9. I wouldn't knowingly sleep with someone who was pro-life, anti-gun control, politically conservative, etc. Does that mean everyone who sleeps with me has an ethical requirement to give me the laundry list of their political views before we get it on? Or does it mean that if these are such dealbreakers for me, it's my responsibility to ask first about the things that'd bother me, and theirs to respond honestly if asked? eta: that said, anyone who's seriously considering asking partners before you sleep with them if they're transgender, please do so in a safe, public place so you don't put them in the position of having to decide whether to lie to you or risk a very negative reaction by telling the truth if they are trans Yeah, that'd basically mean never getting in a relationship with anyone, ever. You can't just magically tell who's going to turn out to be violent or abusive before you get in a relationship with them, and it's victim blamey as hell to suggest otherwise, buddy.

  11. Maybe it's a feature! Do you have a save soon after Aloth died and one where you found him again that you could provide for the developers?
  12. If you're seeing FoW in places you've been through already, that's a bug.
  13. Just wait on the patch, your save should be fixed with that and hopefully it'll be out this week.
  14. Wasteland 2 was nearly unplayable for me much of the time, but PoE has been running steady as a rock; only times I've hit any noticeable framerate issues were in a couple very busy fights with lots of spell effects flying around.
  15. Ah, I was wondering if the bug where that quest can be triggered early was something like this.
  16. Bear in mind that a trans woman disclosing the fact that she's trans to a male partner runs the risk of assault or murder regardless of when she says something. I don't think that people have an obligation to tell their partners any personal information they don't want to unless it's something that could affect their partner, like an STI; that goes double if they'd be putting themselves at risk by so doing. Personally, if I slept with a woman who turned out to be trans and hadn't told me, I... well, I wouldn't care for one, because trans women are women and it's no reflection on my orientation if I'm attracted to one, but I certainly wouldn't blame her for being scared to say something earlier and just wanting to have a relationship like anyone else.
  17. Actually I agree that in general repulsion at the sight of a rotting corpse or the like serves a purpose, evolutionarily speaking. I just don't think you can extend that to trans people; they don't have cooties. The "I am transphobic but not intolerant" thing is a nonsensical distinction, IMO, but so long as his response to not wanting to be near trans people is to politely absent himself when he thinks he's spotted one rather than trying to get them banned or the like, I don't much care, either.
  18. There's a difference between feeling freaked out and unnecessarily questioning your sexual orientation after unknowingly sleeping with a trans person and killing yourself from shame afterwards.
  19. This is my overall take, but as I said, the cloth map was a draw for me. I also seriously doubt as many people who say they back "just for the game" (how noble) would still have put in as much if everyone got nothing but the game in return. There is a reason backer rewards exist, and it's not to add value to the gamer's experience like they would have you believe, it's simply to drive sales, so I feel absolutely fine about kicking Obsidian in the nuts for delivering crappy physical merch. It's insulting, and everyone just wants to say "oh oh it's the game man it's about the game" ... don't be so naive. If you feel differently, good for you. For me it's about the game.
  20. Issue's also been reported here: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/73940-bug-sagani-post-rest-dialog-triggers-early-resulting-in-spoilers
  21. EA has the worst customer service I've ever encountered, incidentally.
  22. Uh, congratulations on your self-realisation of your transphobia?
  23. I don't tend to get physical rewards, but I'm quite happy with my Fallout lunchbox. The quality of my CE here doesn't matter to me a ton; it'd be nice if it was good quality, sure, but I backed the game for... well, the game. And they delivered on that, which is what's important to me.
  24. It's not a bug; the loading screen tips mention that item bonuses don't stack, I believe.
