  1. Unfortunately for windows the preferences are in the registry. In Windows 7 they are under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Obsidian Entertainment\Pillars of Eternity _currentDisplayMode seems also doing something
  2. I bet on the next week.
  3. Can't say if it's important, but in your log the game starts with the Intel integrated graphic card, not the Radeon. Any energy saving profile active?
  4. The flaming sword icon looks great and it's immediately recognizable as a flaming sword. Switching it for a generic icon doesn't make it more functional or better in any way.
  5. Could you upload the output_log.txt and the system informations? You can find the location of those files here.
  6. If you want it DRM free you should go with GOG. It's on sale right now - the sale ending shortly - and by buying games you also get a few games for free. . There is not a bundle so the less expensive option is: PoE Hero Edition: https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_hero_edition Expansion Pass: https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_the_white_march_expansion_pass But here is the thing: I own the game on Steam, and I can start Pillars without launching Steam. And the game is on sale on Steam too, at the same price. Still, installing and restoring from a backup will always require Steam. Just don't mix the versions: Steam keys don't work with GOG and vice versa. For other shops carrying Steam keys my suggestion is to look at www.isthereanydeal.com
  7. you're welcome For level 13 you need to visit the big city - Defiance Bay. After the main quest "Undying Heritage" you'll be able to open that door.
  8. Level 3: If you are talking about the secret on the north corner of the map: a object around there operates the door you want to open. Level 13: You must probably complete a certain section of the main quest (undying heritage).
  9. Not sure why you made a pdf. Is 960x540 the real size of the image, or it was resized? If it's the real size, maybe check the game resolution? I can't really see if there is anything unusual from the pdf. In game in that area the stairs are a bit blurred. If that is the problem I'm afraid there is no fixing through the graphic options, the game backgrounds are essentially like paintings. Screenshot of the area under the spoiler (click for full size):
  10. Is your game updated to version 3.03.1037? This bug should be fixed in the current beta.
  11. Just to be really sure: OS seeing more than 4GB of RAM =/= program using more than 2GB of RAM It's 2 different tweaks.
  12. Is the tweak to allow your OS to use more than 2GB RAM for each program already enabled? Games optimized for 64bit system can use more RAM than a 32bit OS can spare.
  13. Another workaround you can try it's removing most of the savegames from the save folder. Copy your older saves somewhere else.
  14. the 3.03 beta will likely be released next week: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/86041-when-is-the-next-patch-coming-out/?p=1815053
  15. and type the beta password you can find in this thread: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/76849-patch-betas-on-steam/
  16. With a HD4600 it's playable, with some hiccup in scenes with many lights, or when many NPC stand around a source of light, like in the first area. Low details are recommended. However I think the low frames rate makes - the rare and optional - dragons fights to glitch. The dragons can turn really fast, and if the game skips frames you cannot see where they are really aiming. I posted a video for a bug report in this thread (spoiler).
  17. My wishlist: better loading times, reduced savegames size, the game launching even with 100+ saves in the folder, game mechanics better explained, stats/item/skills/keybinds easely editable ideally through notepad. And some kind of tool checking for out-of-range values, especially after few reloads, and eventually resetting values to default.
  18. Once I got a Nature's Bounty potion from a loot stash somewhere. Could it be that?
  19. Unfortunately it's quite possible your recent saves got corrupted. I don't know if it's recoverable, it's something the developers should look at; you can upload to dropbox or sendspace the output_log.txt and your savegame. Reading other bug reports it seems to happen when a transition interrupts a saving operation, or if 2 instances of the game are open at the same time.
  20. Is GOG using different servers based on the user location? Could be a mirror with corrupted files.
  21. (changed format for my eyes) Check your antivirus recent activity, could be blocking the files or the access to the installation folder. If you use Windows give a shot to rebooting your PC. Worked for me with a game lost writing permissions after a Steam update/UAC change.
  22. Sounds like this bug: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/85882-skaen-temple-guards-nigh-unkillable The more you reload in the same area, the worse it gets. Share on dropbox or sendspace a save+output_log for the developers?
  23. Your guess is as good as mine. Could the bug affects both the activation of the spell and the spell? Stormcaller casting 2 Returning Storm, each of them hitting twice?
  24. Returning Storm randomly strikes enemies inside his radius (5m default). 1 enemy per second, until the end of the spell, more or less. The druid spell is centered on the caster. With Stormcaller being a bow maybe the center of the spell is your target. If that is not the case Stormcaller's Returning Storm range must be incredibly large.
