  1. Still with the second monitor disabled, if you set the main monitor resolution to 1024x768 the game starts? Since that is the resolution geforce experience is trying to enforce, let's see what happens if you use it.
  2. If you can add it without risks, something to prevent the launch of 2 Pillars.
  3. I'm glad it worked. Sometimes a bug "stick" and makes non bugged saves appear bugged (and sometimes the saves are really just corrupted). When that happens load the saves passing from the main screen or restart the game.
  4. Your problem seems to be with both Kana and Hiravias. Launch the game (if the game was already running, close and restart it). In Options>Difficulty disable "auto level companions". Load your autosave at the begin of the Stormwall Gorge (the save before recruiting Hiravias). Walk back to the tavern in Gilded Vale. Retrain Kana. Save the game, quit, load your last save. Recruit Hiravias. You could fix in a similar way (restart/disable auto level up/retrain/save/quit/load) the saves after recruiting Hiravias, but it's safer this way.
  5. Eh, the crash interrupted the log. Windows logs probably stored some information, but it's hard to say how useful those can be. You can look at the event viewer (run->eventvwr), and double click the events. Also check the programs active in background. For example evga precision crashed Pillars. Other stuff: The "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object " lines are repeated ad infinitum around the Warden in the Sanitarium.
  6. Yes, just install it using the same Steam account.
  7. Shame on the save, could show if it was replicable on other computers. For Pillars I warmly recommend you to keep several regular saves. Forgot to tell you that you get a new output_log when you start the game. To save any information on the crash you'll need to save the output_log.txt just after.
  8. Steam is a DRM, but not all the Steam games requires Steam to run. In Pillars case you need Steam to install it, but you don't need Steam to play it. You can launch Pillars directly from the executable PillarsOfEternity.exe.
  9. When a crash occurs, Pillars should create a crash report, a folder with a name like "2016-08-15_..." where the game is installed. Upload it to a cloud service like sendspace or dropbox, link it to the forum. Even a recent savegame and output_log.txt could offer some clue.
  10. The GOTY edition looks nice, and you get the expansion too. But I don't know if it will let you just update: Steam games usually try to download the whole thing when you install them.
  11. You could still be in luck. If it just happened you'll only need to reload a save not from your last session. (also disable the companions auto-level up to prevent a different bug). Developer explanation:
  12. Could you share a savegame? (through sendspace/dropbox/any service you like) (It's mostly just out of curiosity - I think to fix this you'll need a developer fix). Savegames location: Savegames Windows Location: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity Mac Location: ~/Library/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity/Saved Games Linux Location: ~/.local/share/PillarsOfEternity/SavedGames
  13. The "Charged_Spellbind_Biting_Winds_Ability" in the error is the Chanter invocation "So Singt thy Biting Winds o' Eld Nary". Tier IV, level 14+. Try to disable auto-level up, load a level 13 savegame, manually level up Kana?
  14. Quoting Sking (developer): You can probably get around it by disabling auto level up, but I can't tell if the bug caused the corruption of your savegame. When I loaded your game Durance was level 1 (ready to level up), wearing his default equipment (robe and staff). Is it possible that you never levelled him up/gave him equipment? Also the class behavior of everyone in your party was set to "None", that is unusual. None = "the character's AI will not use any spells or abilities". The safe course of action is to disable auto level up and to reload to a point preceding Durance recruitment, if you still have a save. Or wait for a fix.
  15. Add a check at launch to prevent the start of a second instance of Pillars if one is already opened. If needed for testing .exe -ignorecheck or something.
  16. It's just that, or some area also reverted to the initial state?
  17. There is no click sound but when I'm moving the pointer around I'm actually clicking the ground trying to move the party. work-around: Clicking a party member or a monster while everyone is selected casts shadow steps and fix it for that fight. Bug:After casting Shadow Step the next fight the pointer glitches and it's not possible to control the party: -clicking the ground doesn't move the party. -clicking a portrait doesn't switch party member. -clicking directly a party member in the world switches to that one - sometimes. Unless it is Devil/Everyone selected, clicking a companion/monster doesn't cast Shadow Step, and doesn't allow to attack. Savegame and Output_log.txt: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nrzdncyg08moyt8/PillarsOfEternity_pointer%20glitch.7z?dl=0 In the zip file: Test 0 - before casting Shadow Step Test 1 - after casting Shadow Step
  18. Retrain the rogue to remove it. If you instead want to keep Shadow Step while you wait for a patch: while in combat select Devil, press "A" (force attack), click Devil, click Shadow Step.
  19. Shadow Step is bugged. Devil's Shadow Step is labeled Modal, but it's also a combat only ability and 1 for fight. Once you activate Shadow Step in a fight, you can't disable it inside that same combat (1 use) or just after (combat only). The next fight the attack icon (sword) changes into something else and the party becomes unresponsive. Work-around 1: Retrain Devil to remove Shadow Step. Work-around 2: In a fight, game not paused, Force Attack* Devil to auto-cast Shadow Step. That should give you back the control of the party. At this point Shadow Step should be in recharge, and with a counter of 1. Disable it. *shortcut A - ignore the icon
  20. Guess the bug gets mixed up with something else. There is a repetition of the null reference exception when I use the party UI with my other saves. The work-around is pretty similar anyways. Saving-Title Screen-Loading.
  21. Whatever it's causing the UI glitch, once triggered in DeHavilan save it persisted after loading one of my saves, until I returned to the title screen.
  22. As a short term project, they could do something like those horrors games they played on twitch.
  23. "Saved Games" is one of the OS default directories even in Windows 7 (I'm using it). Unless something weird happened to the game installation, the saves are there. However, when the OS is in a language other than english "Saved Games" and "Users" are translated, and that can make less obvious locate them. The Run command bypass that, or at least it should.
  24. Something about "frondes"? frondoso? just to avoid fetus.
  25. To find your savegames type in "Run" (shortcut Windows Key+R): %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity
