  1. Developing new combat strategies when you hit a wall in the IE games were one of the best part of those games. If anything, move further in that direction. edit: that direction being more ways to force the player to think, and perhaps tackle the combat encounter from another angle.
  2. Luckily i am not as sad as you, that i dont have the attitude to accept other peoples opinion... Kind regards, Jira Ok ~Qwinn
  3. "I want more intellectual kind of romance [...]" There's a big disconnect between this option and what people are posting in this thread. Many seem to be praising BG2 as an example of good romance, specifically Aerie. That particular romance embodies everything that is wrong with romance in RPG's (remember inventory baby), which only proves that your ideas of a "intellectual kind of romance" are horrible and this is why you cannot be allowed to have any influence over the game. Please crawl back to the bio boards.
  4. Luckily, the Obsidian devs doesn't have as bad taste as the pro-romance people so we have nothing to worry about anyway.
  5. Will the pro-romance people just get back to the bioware boards please. There are plenty of games for you already, leave this one alone.
  6. An improved version of the the SoZ overland map (with all the party mechanics), as long as it doesn't means compromising with dungeon sizes and the like.
  7. Stay true to the IE games. No artificial difficulty, just good encounter design, and clever use of the rules.
  8. I would like to see some dialectal materialism in the game. If it's a feudal society, then the relationships between the nobles, the prince, the bourgeoisie, the clerics and the peasantry would probably make for some good intrigue in a CRPG.
  9. Lots and lots of choices, hopefully reactivity to match them and different endings depending on your choices.
  10. I have to wonder, are you basing this off of the games graphics? Because the video showed nothing regarding what the engine is capable of, just camera movement. Camera movement in an early alpha build of a game that isn't even trying to be super awesome graphically. If you thought that Wasteland 2 was going to give your eyes orgasims then perhaps you made a mistake in pledging to that game (assuming you did indeed pledge to it). This game by the way? Also likely isn't going to be absolutely stunning graphically. You misunderstand me, I want a game engine that can give us something that looks like the IE games. I don't care about graphics at all further than that they communicate the style that the game wants to establish. I know next to nothing about graphics engines but I was mostly thinking that the W2 demo looked nothing liked I would envision a spiritual successor to the IE games would look, which is natural since it's a PA game with other goals than this project, but I was doubting whether unity can do an IE-like graphics style as well.
  11. I'll admit it's premature and not really fair to them, but nonetheless, it looked ****ty and it threw me off a bit. Onyx looked great in DS3 on the other hand, and I honestly thought they'd get to use their own tech this time around.
  12. Can't say I'm thrilled by the thought of unity since what we've seen so far from its use in W2 has been kind of underwhelming. On the other hand, if they make some kind of deal with inXile for the engine, we will most likely see modding tools as a stretch goal, which would be cool.
  13. "Just look at BG2" Ugh, Aerie. Maybe Jaheira was kind of ok but still, the romances in BG2 just reeks of pathetic wish fulfillment.
  14. In New Vegas it was kind of immersive to play with the hard core mode on. Some of my favourite moments from that game is actually finding clean water, as weird as it sounds. I'm not sure if it would result in the same thing in this type of game, or just become another resource managment mechanic. Not that that's inherently bad though.
  15. There are plenty of vidyan gaems with the camera modes you describe, you should play them instead. This is supposed to be a spiritual successor to the IE games, and as such it shouldn't focus on cinematic experience. Isometric perspective and text ftw.
  16. People tend to forget that part of what made combat in both BG games interesting (but BG2 to a much larger extent) was your party configuration. Battles would play out veeeery differently based on the characters/classes you had in your party. I hope Obsidian takes this into consideration, because a 6 man party with 8 available characters wouldn't really be able to provide something like that.
  17. I also trust Obsidian to not give us Bioware style romance, since we already know Sawyer and MCA dislikes writing them. That means that if there is to be any romance at all, it will probably be subtle and tasteful, like in Torment, and to a lesser extent, KotOR 2 and MotB. I still think it's important that we ridicule anyone who brings up romance and kids and housing as much as possible though, because in your face nerd.
  18. The only reason the inXile+MCA thing worked out anyway was because their offices are relatively close to each other. Compare that to say hiring Gaider, who for all his faults managed to produce BG2. He will have to fly from canada all the time if he wants to be a serious member of the team, which I find unrealistic.
  19. Considering they've mentioned souls as the power for magic, they might be going with a vancian system, only every caster plays like a third edition sorcerer. That would solve the problem of memorizing combat/non combat spells, but still give you a limit to how many spells you can use each day. Combine this with some way to limit resting and I would be satisfied.
  20. Good luck with Mitsoda, I don't think he left this place with a smile on his face from what I understand.
  21. No sleep spamming, but as I said in the other thread, vancian casting system is a huge part of what made playing a mage in BG2 very tactical and fun. I've never played any game since where magic was as deep and tactical as in BG1/2 (but mostly 2), especially games with that horrible horrible cooldown mechanic which makes the game feel like an offline MMO.
