  1. Completely forgot about those ones. The area right after talking with Tali right? Has a geth prime at the end? The floating drones keep respawning, but I think that's it. Now that I think about it, Garrus loyalty mission has a couple areas that will keep dropping groups of three LOKI mechs on you, but I found only the last one had time to do so more than once unless I was taking it really slow and standing around after everyone was dead. I'm almost positive that those stop eventually. I recall hiding behind the wall on the first platform and knocking each krogan off the ledge as it walked past.
  2. Yeah, I have no idea what people are talking about with this. I never once ran into an infinite respawn area. There are a few areas that will respawn a fair number of enemies, but they all stop eventually. For those that have noticed this, would I be correct in saying that Tali's loyalty mission is one of these areas?
  3. She died because Harper's Call does 10 damage to the caster. It's a crappier version of raise dead. Subject comes back to life with 1HP and -5 to all ability scores for 1 minute. I completely missed the 10 damage to caster portion of the spell, so Jaheira cast the spell, brought Aerie back to life and killed herself in the process. I sat there for about a minute trying to figure out just WTF happened. Also, I managed to raise 15,000 gold within 36 hours of leaving Chateau Irenicus, at least 16 hours of which was rest time. Kings fortune indeed. Circus, Slavers and Tanner Murders provided enough loot to put me over the top.
  4. Crap. I apparently missed something in that spell description.
  5. I knew I forgot to mention something. It's multiplayer only.
  6. Shattered Horizon is a DX10 only, Zero-G FPS that was released by Futuremark Game Studios last November. A lot of people have been hesitant about picking it up because it's got some pretty steep system requirements, but Steam is currently running a free weekend so you can check it out risk free while there are lots of people playing. Currently sitting at 1337 players online. Futuremark released their Moonrise content pack this past week with contained 4 new maps to bring the total to 8 overall. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but I've been hearing some good things about them. As an added bonus, the game is $10 (50% off) for the duration of the free weekend if you like it and want to keep playing. Most of the servers right now are set up for new players so there shouldn't be too much trouble with all the veterans MPR boosting and stabbing people.
  7. Yeah, for the second tournament in a row. If they had beaten us again, at least we managed to score this time! Had me going there for awhile wondering just who was going to get that win.
  8. Even if I wasn't against this on principle, my connection isn't nearly stable enough for this. It routinely drops below dial up speeds and stays that way until I power cycle the router. Tried replacing the router, modem and even had the line coming into the house replaced last year. Nothing stops it. It's something I put up with for multiplayer, but no way am I doing the same thing for a single player game.
  9. My fall semester is going to be horrible.
  10. It wasn't on youtube when I checked, but someone sent me a rar. It didn't have all the songs in it though.
  11. No beta access here either. Also checked out part of the soundtrack. Terran 1-5, Zerg 1-6 and Protoss 1. Only song I liked was Terran 1.
  12. It was even better when you managed to get his own nuke to blow up his base. Once had someone try to nuke me while I had a massive swarm of aircraft over his base. The nuke hit one of my aircraft and blew up taking a good chunk of his base along with it.
  13. Tiberian Sun at 1920x1200? I have a sudden urge to load it up. Vanilla game support this? I think I actually have two copies of TS floating around here, but no Firestorm, if you don't count The First Decade.
  14. Was more efficient if you had 6 level 1 research then 1 level 6 research.. But still was a dang good game once you got to grips with it... No, no, no. Once you research the brain wave blocker thing so that the aliens become your friends, they ask for a bunch of things on a space station in orbit over Cronus. Something like 20 vehicles (and they keep blowing them up in research) along with 6 fully upgraded research stations. Trying to keep enough resources on hand to not only build/upgrade them all and then keep them running was a huge pain in the ass. Easy enough to cover the life support and energy needs, but the ore requirements were huge and you can't mine anything in space.
  15. Wait a minute, someone else actually played that?! Grabbed it from the bargain bin along with Earthsiege for $10 back in 2000. I've still got both of them around here somewhere. More missiles, more ships. Need more missiles and ships! 6 level 6 research labs on a space station?! Are you nuts?!
  16. Too bad the shotgun only has 16 rounds.
  17. "This thread discriminates against poor people."
  18. I just saw the statistics for Mass Effect 2 among my Steam friends list. Combined, my friends have put a total of 175 hours into the game. I have nearly 100 logged by myself across three runs. I'm not sure how I should feel about this.
  19. Jacob? I never got the impression he could be a good leader - you certain he works for that role? I'll take Zaeed over him any day of the week and twice on sundays. But apparently being co-founder and head of one of the biggest merc groups in the galaxy doesn't make you a competent squad leader... may need to take a look at Blue Suns casualty rates. I chose him once in the second part where the leader gets shot and the right one survives while the wrong one dies - he survived. Someone on another forum mentioned that Zaeed boasts how he is always a lone survivor. I haven't verified this yet but if true this would be an explanation. Talk about the little model ship he has in his room. It's about his first suicide mission. Taking down a Turian cruiser from the inside. He says something about it along the lines of "I was the only one that made it out alive, but it was all worth it just to see that bastard go down". Look at his loyalty mission. Blowing up the refinery along with everyone in it so that he can take out his own target. He doesn't care about anyone else as long as his goals are accomplished and he makes it out. This guy wasn't just kicked out of the Blue Suns, IIRC someone mentioned that he was held down and shot in the face by 6 of his own troops. Does it sound like this guy is a good leader? As for Jacob, he's also ex-Alliance military, worked for the Corsairs and according to the little blurb when selecting team leaders he was "A seasoned combat professional and veteran of the Alliance military. In addition to advance tactics and field operations, he is a disciplined biotic of considerable power." I don't know about you, but I'd rather have Jacob be my squad leader than Zaeed.
  20. Everyone is recruited. Sent Legion back with the crew. Tried Mordin/Jack and Mordin/Miranda. Tali was dead in both cases. It's 4:21am, I think further testing can wait till tomorrow. I have a save right at the end of Haestrom so I'll grab Tali's loyalty mission instead of Legions and see what happens in that instance. Will let everyone know tomorrow.
  21. Very interesting stuff actually and thanks for reposting it over here. It's not hard to get everyone to survive if you do all the loyalty missions, however it's good to know this stuff if you're trying for a minimum-accomplished-everyone-lives run. I've got 5 people loyal on my current run. Garrus, Legion, Mordin, Miranda and Jack. Mordin was squishy, so he went back with the crew. First run through taking Garrus and Legion for the final boss led to Tali being dead after the HTL moment. However it doesn't appear that there is any combination I can make with those 4 loyal squaddies that results in Tali surviving. Because I'm obsessed with making sure everyone lives, this will be the second time I backtrack to the IFF mission in order to do more stuff. However, next time around it'll provide some more guidance on who I need loyal.
  22. Miss out on save games you say? Last I checked, they had over 100 saves there.
  23. Wasn't talking about the vent mission. I was talking about a random death after the end boss. Non-loyal squaddies seem to have a chance of dying here, but I have no idea what triggers what person to die. All I know is that it's decided sometime before the actual boss fight because restarting the fight has no effect. Calax: Garrus, Miranda and Jacob are all suitable for the leadership position. And the shot is fatal if the person is not loyal or not leadership material.
  24. I feel that I must reiterate. Damn you Bioware! I back up three hours to go get Mordin's loyalty, do Garrus mission so I can get around his damn conversation loop and then run through the end game all over again, only to have Tali die on me instead. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!
  25. Maybe it's because none of use have run into this again? You're right! I'll stop him! Not if I can help it! Or maybe people have just resigned themselves to the fact that it's not going to change. Bioware did a better job with it this time around. Much fewer instances of the summary not matching the spoken dialog in meaning/tone. Fewer instances of dialog being shared over multiple responses as well. If they only have two lines, they only give you two choices.
