L4D
Every so often, mainly when somebody I know is playing (and most of my friends now play the second because one had to reformat his comp and lost the first). Which is unfortunate, because I ended up preferring the first game to the sequel. Something about L4D2 just didn't grab me the same way. I've got about 50 hours in that compared to nearly 300 or so for the original and I really have no desire to go back and start it up myself. I'd join someone if they invited me, but I haven't played any pub games of L4D2 and have no desire to waste time going for the achievements.

It's usually my other group that happens with. We get pretty competitive going for those special infected kills. Everyone gets a medkit at the start of every level. That means you can incap each other 4 times per level without anyone dying. It wasn't unheard of to have multiple people with 20+ times incapped on the stats screen at the end of a game. Depended on how many medkits we found in each level and how quickly we rushed through them.

"God dammit Deraldin! Stop shooting me in the back! I've taken more damage from you than I have from the zombies!" "Hey you jerk! Stop hogging all the pills!" "Oh no, don't mind me, I'm just being torn to shreds by a frakking Hunter over here! No rush or anything!"

What are you playing now?
I never finished my second run of the game. I just started Orzammar with my mage as the last army I still need to recruit before the end game. Don't remember why I quit though.

Squad weapon damage is supposed to be around 60% of the damage dealt by Shepard with the same weapon. EDIT: Apparently I was wrong. Numbers has more concrete info.

Where do you get this arc shooter? I've recruited everyone except Tali and the geth thingy, done all the loyalty missions and haven't run across it yet. BTW, I got the Widow sniper rifle, but only my soldier can use it. Garrus and Thane are both trained in sniper rifles, but this selection isn't available to them in the weapons locker. Does anyone know why not? The Arc Lightning gun was released on the Cerberus Network yesterday. Not sure if it just shows up or if you have to research it first, but you'll need to download and install it before you can use it.

It's just one of those odd things that's different between people. I never really felt like I was speeding through the game, but tend to be on the lower side of the reported times. I picked up probably 75% of the squad conversations on the Normandy so there was some stuff that I missed, but I'm guessing that's not 15 extra hours worth of conversations. I'd stop to listen to the background conversations in the hub worlds and loot every level as thoroughly as I could, but I'd generally do it all in one pass. I did very little backtracking. If there were multiple quests on one planet, I'd wait till I had them all then do them in one run. I'd guess at least some of that is responsible for time discrepancies.

You'd be surprised how many people on the bio forums find the mining enjoyable. They aren't the majority, but there is a significant number of them out there.

My first run of ME1 was only about 14 hours. I skipped almost all the side quests. My completionist runs tend to average out to around 30 hours give or take 1-2 hours. That's doing all the sidequests except for the stupid collection quests that aren't worth doing. I listen to all the dialogue, don't skip cutscenes and talk to my crew when on the Normandy. I don't have access to it at the moment, but all of my ME2 runs were between 20-30 hours. The first one had all the loyalty missions completed but no N7 missions. The second run was a completionist and the third had all the N7 but only about half the loyalty missions. I'll double check later, but I don't think any of them managed to hit 30 hours.

Supreme Commander 2
If you have a secondary monitor, but aren't using it to play the game your mouse cursor isn't locked to the game screen for some reason. Lock Cursor To Window will keep it from leaving the game. As for your scrolling issue, I don't know if this is just because I've got two different size monitors, but I can scroll using the top edge of my secondary monitor, but not the side or bottom. I know it would be a pain in the ass to move to the far side of the second screen just to scroll the main window, but maybe that still works?

Yup. My infiltrator took it down with the Widow and my Sentinel took to down with the Tempest. That took a lot of ammo. Neither one had the Cain yet. The Sentinel did use the Collector Beam though.

It's been that way in both games, in fact your secondary monitor doesn't really scroll in or out either. I just found myself scrolling in and out to get around rather than sliding my screen around (mainly because you'd spend 5 minutes sliding left and right to reach each different battlezone). The secondary monitor works just like the primary monitor. It's like a secondary window though, you have to give it focus before you can really do anything with it. I agree with the zooming being easier than scrolling though. One of the biggest things I miss in other games. EDIT: I was wrong. The secondary monitor doesn't have mouse scrolling. It's a little more limited. You can select things and move them around, zooming in and out to move the screen works just fine.

I'm not having much luck with heavy weapons at all. I got this M920 Cain heavy weapon, tried to use it on the Thresher Maw. It came up with "192%" in the crosshairs, and I could not figure out how to fire that thing. LMouse, nothing; RMouse, nothing. It cost me a fortune and it does... nothing. What the heck am I doing wrong? I did kill the Maw, though. With my assault rifle. You need to hold the fire button down. It takes a few seconds before it fires. And make sure you aren't standing anywhere near your target.

What you did today
I feel like a complete idiot. My class on Friday morning doesn't start at 9am, it starts at 10am. I have this time written down in all my notes. For the past several weeks at least, I could swear that class started at 9am. How the hell have I been managing to show up at the right time for class without realizing what the right time is?!

Are you saying that the experimentals are better than what was in the demo? The few that I was able to use just felt completely useless. Not only did they die very quickly, but they couldn't kill anything.

Yeah, the Tali recruitment mission became an ASAP mission for anything that didn't have access to assault rifles for me. It was just far and away, so much better than just about everything else for general purpose shooting things in the face. And it almost never runs out of ammo. I think the loyalty mission conversations are based on the number of missions you've done since recruiting them. Not sure about the specific number though.
