Alpha Protocol on GTTV next Friday
The GT stream is really jerky, for me, even if I let it preload for a long while. Anyway: awesome. Finally getting to see the CQC in action is great, and AP seems to have the best fighting animations this side of anything. Facial animations could still use a bit of polish, but they're already at least as good as in Mass Effect. I'd like to hear some clarification on how the lockpicking minigame works as it looks to close Oblivion's minigame for comfort.

Empire: Total War
I'm really not liking the decreased number of provinces in Empire. M2TW already had too few provinces, as it was. Also, the number of playable factions is really, really limited, especially for such a large number of existing factions.

AP questions
My guess is 17.

Any good games coming out?
My problem with Tactics was that the combat was never as quite good as other games in its TBS genre. Also, I hated that they removed the hex grid.

How come so few scary games?
Where did you get the "gotcha" moments in System Shock 2? The closest thing to that in the whole game, is you walking along, and suddenly hearing someone from behind wailing something like"kill me" or just asking if you are lost. Besides, those moments only startle because of the mood set by the environment, and because of the genuine threat the enemies pose due to the damage they can inflict. Also, I have to disagree on the lack of narrative in System Shock 2. There are plenty of logs to be found detailing the characters and events within the Von Braun. Both the narrative detailing the fall of the spaceship to the Many, and the plot points that unfold while you are walking through the ship, are well developed and brought home through the competent writing, good voice direction and good acting.

What are you playing now?
GalCiv II arrived today, and Empire should get here tomorrow, so a strategy rampage is nigh!

How come so few scary games?
System Shock 2 really doesn't do that at all. The scary there is all about sound, art, narrative and gameplay design. It creates a mixture of dread, helplessness, and dim hope rather well.

Does this remind you of something?
Even when I was a kid I didn't think that was particularly good. Thinking about it in retrospect, it's really clear it was a crappy animated show churned out to sell bad toys. As far as I can recall, there were a lot of kid shows in the 80s that were better than that.

Empire: Total War
Their servers could be fast, ninja like, magical servers, that it would still not justify a 60% price increase for a game. It just goes to show how brick and mortar retailers still seem to have most publishers' balls in a vice.

I heartily subscribe what is said by Mrs Crimson.

Empire: Total War
Why would anyone in Europe buy a game available in retail from Steam? I ordered my copy from the UK (should arrive tomorrow ), and it cost me 30€. The edition with the extra units is less than 40€, I believe. Edit: Actually, that's no longer true. The Special Edition now costs the same as the regular edition. The little bastards.

TV: Heroes
I thought this episode was quite good in parts, for a change. The meeting between Danko and Mama Petrelli, in particular, was rather well done.

Monty Markland leaving Obsidian?
How about equating you to Sean Connery in a red thong and thigh boots? Because that's how I will picture you now, forever and ever. Zed.

Release date
That's really far away...

Pictures of your games
Those are some awful graphics.

Empire: Total War
So, how long until the stupid is modded out?

Empire: Total War
What kind of retarded design decision is that? Is it a bug?

Chris Taylor leading the Fallout MMO project
It depends, really. Personally, I think strategy console games, like Tactics Ogre or Fire Emblem would work a lot better with a keyboard and mouse setup.

Empire: Total War

Empire: Total War

IGN's The Top 100 Game Creators of All Time
Well, Hironobu Sakaguchi, basically hasn't done anything interesting, ever, and he still got a top 10 spot. Which I predicted, by the way.

A Portuguese magazine comes through with new info,
BGamer. Yes, but you only get to see the cover on the website. Edit: Or rather, actually you get to see the first two pages of the article, which are useless.

The Music Thread
I'm not sure if that means you like it. I just listened to the album that's from and it was pretty forgettable. Of course, I am going senile. What do you mean, "going"? Don't tell me you forgot it again? It's the awesome riff, by the way.

No dice on the scans. Sorry.

A Portuguese magazine comes through with new info,
Yep, that's it. The blade is similar to the one in the following picture, except that Thorton's is longer.
