Yeah, I put it on a mix CD the other day. Gotta have plenty of new mix CDs for the New Year's party! Lucero - I Can Get Us Out of Here Tonight These fellas from Memphis are channeling late-70s Springsteen, and I like it!

Looks like people are getting back to posting a bit of the lyrics with the tunes, eh? All right, I'll bite. The Afghan Whigs - Somethin' Hot I got your phone number, baby I'll call you sometime I think I might be out tonight Maybe give you a ride ****tails for two, down lover's lane I wantcha so bad, after tonight I'll never walk the same And you're to blame I wanna getcha high I wanna get next to you I wanna feel everything aboutcha, girl I wanna feel good You make me feel good Baby, you don't know Just how I lie awake And dream awhile, about your smile And the way you make your ass shake If that ain't love I guess I'll never know A sweeter lie, you'd be surprised Just how far I'd go To make it so I wanna getcha high I wanna get next to you I wanna feel everything aboutcha, girl I wanna feel good You make me feel good

Yesssssssss! Social Distortion - Reach for the Sky

I like Tiki Barber. He can form complete sentences, and I admire that in an athlete. Also, the lack of TDs this year is not his fault. If the Giants get within the 20, they give the ball to Jacobs.

It's ridiculous that the Packers even have a shot of making the playoffs, but they do. That was a gutsy performance from the Eagles last week, and an awful one from the Giants. Oh, and FYI -- Touchdowns from Maurice Jones-Drew, Deuce McAllister, Javon Walker and Jerricho Cotchery propelled my Banana Slugs to a (consolation bracket) championship in my office's fantasy football league!

Cool! I've actually watched it once or twice. In the U.S. it's hosted by Bob Saget (or as I still call him, Danny Tanner), former host of America's Funniest Home Videos. Wow, I just looked at the huge list of all countries that had a version of Millionaire on TV. I'm just glad Regis didn't host all of them, or worldwide opinion of Americans would probably be even lower.

Wow! We have an actual celebrity on the OE boards! But the real questions is "What's next for Pidesco?" Will he showcase his singing talents on Portuguese Idol? Will he eat scorpion eggs on Fear Factor? He could take a part as a gruff FBI agent with a heart of gold for one of those forensic crime dramas, like CSI: Lisbon. Or maybe he will replace Flavor Flav in the third season of Flavor of Love! So anyway.... where's the YouTube link of your appearance? And what is the name of the game show? It looks similar to "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" a show that was quite popular in the U.S. for a while, although I'm sure it was done before elsewhere.

The Rentals - My Head is in the Sun seven more minutes to hide away far from everyone seven more minutes slide away somewhere in the sun I think this song is about hitting the snooze button.

Kids these days probably don't really know nor care much about James Brown. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, all they care about is updating their MySpace pages and their crappy screamo bands and their nuclear jetpacks. Damn kids! But seriously, the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business has earned his rest.

Now Strahan can devote more time to filming Subway commercials! I hear he went out clubbing with Jared the other night and they were giving out free six-inch subs! Then they did some blow and beat up Jimmy Fallon for making some lame joke. Man, that would be sweet. Oh, and on-topic, the Colts lost to the Texans. Ron Dayne ran for 150 yards and two TDs. How lame is that?

My first knowledge of the man known as "Swamp Dogg" came while gazing with horror and delight at some of the worst album covers ever, as collected in a coffee table book I was perusing at the local chain bookstore. Rat On! and other hilarious album covers can be seen here. The Posies - Golden Blunders

yeah, and I read that he was actually one of the most athletic men to occupy the office but, for some reason, he was always tripping and stumbling (off airplanes and the like) and that may have, more than anything else, hurt his chances of remaining in office. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah... he had a lot of blooper-reel moments, which earned him that reputation as a clumsy oaf. Still, he was a top-notch athlete in his day. He actually played on two undefeated football teams at the University of Michigan in the 1930s.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Sometimes Always

Yep, I was gonna do the same thing, actually! Err... the Fannies version, that is.

Funny story... in my dorm days, maybe sophomore year of college, my roommate and I thought it would be a good idea to play that song on loop all day. We left the windows open, locked the door, and left. It was still blaring when we got back a few hours later. Okay, maybe it wasn't quite so funny. I guess you had to be there. I tried to upload some of the Los Straitjackets Christmas album a bit ago, but it wasn't taking. I think Lou in particular would enjoy their surf-rock interpretations of traditional Christmas tunes. I mean, they do "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" over the rhythm from The Ventures' "Pipeline." You know Baby Jesus dug the **** Dale, so this one's a winner. I'm taking a break from the Yuletide carols... Tom Waits - (Looking for) The Heart of Saturday Night And go Replacements!

I've got problems with you people and now you're going to hear about them!
-
That's weird, Lou. I've always heard people say "Winterlong" is one of the better b-sides. It's a Neil Young cover, right? The Twilight Singers - High quality live video, the volume's a bit low, but it's mixed very well. There's a bit of a "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" tease in there too. I wish that guitar solo was on the album version. Damn!
-
I don't think I've heard that one. What era pixies are we talking here? Frank Black & the Catholics - Coastline

It's Nighthawks, by Edward Hopper. Here's a LINK with some interesting info on the piece.

Ha! I saw that punch on SportsCenter today, and it made 'Melo look like a limp-wristed pansy. Also, the whole "Vote for Rory" thing is hilarious. You crazy hockey fans and your hairbrained schemes. Now, don't expect me in here too much - I just wanted to see what you guys were saying about the Penguins situation.
