  1. Enjoy this birthday... it may be your last! Da DA DUN! (but we all hope it isn't)
  2. Haha... it's so subtle! But seriously, man, Melechesh doesn't have much to brag about. That Sephiroth, she gets around. Nice pickup, Baley. Bob Dylan - From a Buick 6
  3. He/she/it is now engaged to the poster know as Kate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow. True love blossoms on an internet message board, amidst discussions of rule interpretations, "phat loot" and whatever else you guys talked about back then.
  4. Wow... that was a bit over the top, eh Neuman?
  5. Yeah, "angry drunks" are a pet peeve of mine. I'm talking about the particular subgenre that wants to go start a fight after having a few drinks. Why get mad? Just put on some good music and play some beer pong, flipcup or your game of choice if you're at home, or just shoot the breeze with your buds if you're at a fine drinking establishment. There's no need to put on your too-tight polo shirt and shove your way to the bar, secretly hoping somebody shoves back so you can "start something." Although I'm ususally a very happy drunk, a few weeks back I almost fell victim to one of these Richards. It was about 2 a.m. My friends and I were in a great mood after a night reminiscent of the old college days. However, as we were leaving the bar, some guy yelled a few smartass remarks my way. Although the prudent course would have been to keep walking, I couldn't resist yelling a few right back at the guy and hoisting my middle finger in his general direction. I don't recall what the guy said, or even what I said in return. But the fact is that he almost goaded me into doing something stupid (I could barely stagger home at that point, let alone throw a punch) and fairly against my nature. Luckily my friends steered me out of the bar without further incident, so no harm was done - either to me, him, or my spotless reputation. :D
  6. Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck, though. Yeah, or the Creedence. Copperhead Road is off uh, Copperhead Road. And any "essential" Steve Earle compilation you could happen to find (There's about 15 of them). It's also got "The Devil's Right Hand" and "Johnny Come Lately" on it, two classic Earle tunes.
  7. Hmm.... what Steve Earle? For latter-day, post-heroin, politically-charged roots-rock (enough hyphens for ya?), I'd say Jerusalem is a good buy. I'm partial to I Feel Alright, although some champion Train a Comin as his best album. You can't go wrong with either. Of course if you can find it, Shut Up and Die Like an Aviator not only has the greatest title for a live album I have ever heard, but it's a great collection of his best pre-jail work. There are a few nice comps out there that have the best tunes from the first few albums, but you probably want to hear it in the original context, as the artist intended, etc. etc. Steve Earle - Valentine's Day
  8. Hey, they did thoroughly beat the Patriots last week. That was a case of a good plan coming together. Hannibal must have loved it.
  9. Okay, that dude doing the Cannibal Corpse song lounge-style was great. And Mus? was hitting the Twilight Singers, I see. :D NOFX - Reeko
  10. Well, IIRC, Woody punched a heckler on the sidelines. Or maybe it was a journalist, I can't remember. What a coach! Anyway, Buckeyes won it in a hell of a game. Those are definitely the two best teams in the country.
  11. i took my pistol and a hundred dollar bill well i took my pistol and a hundred dollar bill had everything i need to get me killed Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - The Great Communicator
  12. Some of the talking heads have been going on and on about how if either team loses and ends up with just the one loss (especially if it's OSU) that it would be possible for a rematch in the BCS championship. I don't know... it would be interesting to see, because it's so hard to beat a team twice. But I think a strong team from another division should have a chance, too.
  13. Ha ha. In Ohio, we consider the Buckeyes more of a pro team than the Browns or the Ocho Cinco sideshow known as the Bengals. I didn't go to OSU, but I grew up in Youngstown, where Jim Tressel led the Youngstown State University Penguins to a handful on national championships in the 90s. I remember when they played Alcorn State back in '94, maybe... the game was actually televised on ESPN because this QB from Alcorn State was breaking all sorts of records (bonus points to name him )). Well, the Penguins handed them a pretty sound defeat that day and shut down that certain QB. Now Tressel's on a bigger stage at OSU, but he's got the whole state behind him. He's put together a good record in the biggest rivalry in college football, but the death of this legend could push the Wolverines' motivation level even higher.
  14. Edited: It was even longer before.
  15. You kidding? I was singing "Deanna" to myself while emptying the dishwasher yesterday. I know, I know, I'm Captain Domestic now. Anyway, that song is awesome. Almost as awesome as meta's stealth edit. I patted her revolting little chihuahua but still she just didn't want to...
  16. I wonder if that was the song that Valerie Golino was lip-synching to in Hot Shots! A quick IMBD reveals the song I'm thinking of was written by the Gershwins, which makes sense. More IMDB-fueled conjecture: you have a recording of the song from the 1947 film of the same name? Tom Waits - Heartattack and Vine
  17. John Prine - Those Late John Garfield Blues Midnight fell on Franklin Street And the lamppost bulbs were broke For the life of me, I could not see But I heard a brand new joke Two men were standing upon a bridge One jumped and screamed, "You lose!" And just left the odd man holding Those late John Garfield blues
  18. Ha, fauxhawks. Yeah, those don't annoy me so much as make me "LOL" at the trendy dudes (or dudettes) sporting them. Ah yeah. We've got one of those at work. I was in there washing my hands (WITH soap), and the dude just walked straight from the urinal out the door. Not even a cursory splash of hot water! Now I have trouble eating from an open bag of chips in the break room.
  19. coming down from the mountain i have seen the high and mighty i will go again some day but for now i'm comin' down That smiley seems to go with the beat! Steve Earle - My Old Friend the Blues
  20. Yellow smileys = Chargers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And the horse is a Bronco! That was some slick and inventive interpretation of the emoticon, Kum. :applause: But seriously, I don't know who to pick on this one. The Chargers are on a roll, and I don't think even Denver can slow them down. My call is San Diego 24, Denver 20.
  21. Cracker - Can I Take My Gun to Heaven? Can I take my gun up to heaven? You know she's always been by my side Yeah, can I take my gun up to heaven? I'll check it with St. Peter at the gate
  22. So how many TDs is LDT going to score against Denver's vaunted defense? Or will they stuff him again (like in previous years), and force Rivers to throw 40 times? Rivers has been a stud this year on my fantasy team (I picked him up in week 3 or so off the waiver wire!), but right now I'm leaning toward benching him for Jon Kitna who is playing the terrible Arizona Cardinals this week. The Lions had a bad game last week and I think they'll rebound against the Cards, because, well, the Cards would get beaten by the Sisters of the Poor right about now.
  23. Ah, the Atomic Bitchwax. In the parlance of our times, their first album is "off-the-hizzy." Atomic Bitchwax - Crazed Fandango
  24. Man, I love that song. I don't feel bad about letting you go I just feel sad about letting you know Great, great line. I've been there, and it ain't fun. Oh, and Jorian, I listened to that Nox song last night. It was very interesting, and skillfully played. Truthfully, it's not my cup of tea. That's just my preference though. The funny guys playing the classical tune was cool to watch. Mostly I'm stoked that I found the Afterhours CD Ballads for Little Hyenas at Record Exchange last night for $2.50 -- what a steal! Afterhours - There's Many Ways
