Flash drives man, flash drives. I hear my old college is giving them to incoming freshmen these days. And by "giving" I'm sure I mean "adding $39.99 to their tuition." Our boss actually gave a lot of the employees 512 MB USB flash drives last month. You know, in case we want to take our work home with us.

Goddamn I love Social Distortion. I almost picked up Mike Ness' first solo album last week. It was eight bucks at Record Exchange. I bought the first Cracker album instead... I'd been jonesing for it since I lost my copy some months ago. Edit: for spelling mistakes

Oh man, you're lucky. I follow that band religiously. I even slept with the lead singer. Megadeth- Gears of War <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You shouldn't brag about that, Lou. They're not very good. ^_^ And as for you Draken... you should get yourself checked. If you know what I mean. The Clash - Rudie Can't Fail

Todd Snider - Thin Wild Mercury To me, one of the most interesting periods in rock history was when Bob Dylan picked up an electric guitar and alienated more than half his fanbase. Snider wrote this song about one of the heated arguments about that time in Dylan history. On the way to the airport, Dylan threw fellow singer-songwriter Phil Ochs out of his limousine, and - metaphorically and literally - left him behind. It was all over some new Dylan song That Phil had the nerve to say sounded wrong Dylan stopped the car, his words shook like a fist "Phil, you ain't a writer, you're a journalist" Death of a rebel, twist of fate If he ever thought better, he thought too late Poor Phil Ochs, he slipped through the cracks Judas went electric and he never looked back

Yeah, any film with Walken in it can't be all bad. As for the CR theme: I like Chris Cornell a lot, I just don't like him as a choice for a Bond theme. I was quite the Cornell worshipper in my youth, and hearing him in that intro really threw me.

"Sucks to your Ass-mar!" Am I the only one who thinks of poor Piggy whenever someone mentions those half-angel characters? I picked up NCAA Football 2005 and Top Spin on one Xbox disc, used, for $2.99 yesterday. So far I really suck at this Top Spin game.

I watched a few movies this weekend. The wife and I went to see Casino Royale on Friday. We had just watched "A View to a Kill" the week before - a Roger Moore film with Christopher Walken as the villain. Not a very good Bond film, but the lowlight was when Bond got down to business with... Grace Jones. With that perspective, it was unbelievable how much more intense movies in general have become in the last 20 years or so. The chase that ended at the embassy? Now that's action. It makes the older movies seem unbelievably dated. Daniel Craig was fantastic as Bond. The ladies love the guy, and I've got to say - that torture scene would have been torture on the viewers too if Pierce Brosnan was on display. Edit: Thanks Surr. Must have still been thinking about Roger Moore. I think "A View to a Kill" was done by Duran Duran, am I right? Speaking of Bond title songs performed by men - Chris Cornell's song for Casino Royale sounded pretty bad on his Myspace page, but it did a lot better on the big screen with the visual cues in the credits montage.

ahem... LOL @ Urlacher for for getting juked by TOM BRADY. The Bears did run the ball well though, so I give them credit for that.

Oh man, that song rocks so hard. I was in the car the other day flipping through the stations, and I heard an awful corporate country cover of Ryan Adams' "When the Stars Go Blue." It turned out to be Tim McGraw, he of the barbeque stain on his white t-shirt. Terrible. Thing is, I wouldn't have thought it was so bad if I hadn't known and loved the original first. Kind of like the original "Gone Daddy Gone," except that Gnarls Barkley actually did a good job with the song.

Yesssss! I'm not sure if liking Razorlight makes me cooler, or if they should be considered a guilty pleasure. I think they used to be cool, and now they're sellouts. Or something like that. The Twilight Singers - Roses It's a cover of the Outkast song. Caroline.... she's the reason for the word "bitttttch"

Bah, they're getting rid of the weak link (that damned quarterback) presently. What they need to do is get that Shanahan running game back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn that Tony Romo. Damn him for giving an example to cite for anyone who thinks changing QBs will suddenly revitalize a team. Oh, and I am so glad Joey Harrington smoked his old team. Serves them right for driving him out and ridiculing his mad piano-playing skills.

Let's quit talking about "The Block," and start talking about how Belichick's defensive schemes are going to fluster Sexy Rexy this Sunday! " Or will Brady lose his cool in the face of that raucous Chicago defense? The only sure loser here is the running game, for both squads.

I have successfully added two musical performances of dubious entertainment value. Uploading was a breeze, LC.

That sounds... amazing. I am quite partial to turkey, especially for Thanksgiving, but Roast Duck L'Orange was one of the best meals I've ever had. The wife and visited my parents for the big meal. Lots of great food, especially Mom's homemade apple pie ... with loads of vanilla ice cream, of course. Happy Turducken Day!

Baldur's Gate 2! My Berserker/Cleric is getting to be quite the powerhouse. Transferring him from BG1 was a nice bonus, because I got several stat points from reading tomes in the first game. I've got 20 wisdom, 18 strength, 17 constituition, and no stats lower than 10! Right now I'm rolling with Valygar, Yoshi, Jaheira and Nalia. I'll probably pick up Keldorn in the sewers, although I might drop him for Mazzy or one of the user-made sorcerer NPCs when I get the chance. I always pick up Keldorn... it's just so hard to say no to Carsomyr, True Sight and Dispel Magic.

Damn.... okay, listening to them back to back like that... well, let's just say I was misguided in my earlier assessment. And okay, so that's the Eric B. and Rakim I always hear about... very, very good stuff. I'm gonna make a big left turn here and post some obscure Tom Waits. This is a song called "It's All Right With Me," off an AIDS benefit album. The video was directed by Jim Jarmusch, and it feature Mr. Waits pulling off some extremely disturbing dance moves.

I've got the RATM "Renegades" CD laying around somewhere. It was hit or miss, like most covers albums. I remember they did "Down on the Street" by Iggy and the Stooges, "Street Fightin Man" by the Stones, and a few fairly obscure hip hop songs, like that "Mic Fiend" song (which was awesome). They also did a cover of Devo's "Beautiful World" that was pretty weak. It was basically Zach venting over a slow Morello strum. Edit: I just remembered there is a jaw-dropping version of "The Ghost of Tom Joad" on that CD. Rage should have covered Springsteen's whole catalog, if their treatment of "Tom Joad" was any indication. ... On second thought, maybe they could skip "Dancing in the Dark." And now, some whiskey-and-amphetamine-fueled southern punk rock, courtesy of the Supersuckers:

Ah, but you always seem to win the pot, Kor. If you know what I mean... BTW, I actually like RATM's version of How I Could Just Kill a Man better than the Cypress Hill original. The Byrds - My Back Pages
