- Legendary football coach Bo Schembechler dies
Some of the talking heads have been going on and on about how if either team loses and ends up with just the one loss (especially if it's OSU) that it would be possible for a rematch in the BCS championship. I don't know... it would be interesting to see, because it's so hard to beat a team twice. But I think a strong team from another division should have a chance, too.- Legendary football coach Bo Schembechler dies
Ha ha. In Ohio, we consider the Buckeyes more of a pro team than the Browns or the Ocho Cinco sideshow known as the Bengals. I didn't go to OSU, but I grew up in Youngstown, where Jim Tressel led the Youngstown State University Penguins to a handful on national championships in the 90s. I remember when they played Alcorn State back in '94, maybe... the game was actually televised on ESPN because this QB from Alcorn State was breaking all sorts of records (bonus points to name him )). Well, the Penguins handed them a pretty sound defeat that day and shut down that certain QB. Now Tressel's on a bigger stage at OSU, but he's got the whole state behind him. He's put together a good record in the biggest rivalry in college football, but the death of this legend could push the Wolverines' motivation level even higher.- Legendary football coach Bo Schembechler dies

You kidding? I was singing "Deanna" to myself while emptying the dishwasher yesterday. I know, I know, I'm Captain Domestic now. Anyway, that song is awesome. Almost as awesome as meta's stealth edit. I patted her revolting little chihuahua but still she just didn't want to...- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
I wonder if that was the song that Valerie Golino was lip-synching to in Hot Shots! A quick IMBD reveals the song I'm thinking of was written by the Gershwins, which makes sense. More IMDB-fueled conjecture: you have a recording of the song from the 1947 film of the same name? Tom Waits - Heartattack and Vine- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
John Prine - Those Late John Garfield Blues Midnight fell on Franklin Street And the lamppost bulbs were broke For the life of me, I could not see But I heard a brand new joke Two men were standing upon a bridge One jumped and screamed, "You lose!" And just left the odd man holding Those late John Garfield blues- Pet Peeves
Ha, fauxhawks. Yeah, those don't annoy me so much as make me "LOL" at the trendy dudes (or dudettes) sporting them. Ah yeah. We've got one of those at work. I was in there washing my hands (WITH soap), and the dude just walked straight from the urinal out the door. Not even a cursory splash of hot water! Now I have trouble eating from an open bag of chips in the break room.- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
coming down from the mountain i have seen the high and mighty i will go again some day but for now i'm comin' down That smiley seems to go with the beat! Steve Earle - My Old Friend the Blues- NFL 2006 Season
Yellow smileys = Chargers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And the horse is a Bronco! That was some slick and inventive interpretation of the emoticon, Kum. :applause: But seriously, I don't know who to pick on this one. The Chargers are on a roll, and I don't think even Denver can slow them down. My call is San Diego 24, Denver 20.- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
Cracker - Can I Take My Gun to Heaven? Can I take my gun up to heaven? You know she's always been by my side Yeah, can I take my gun up to heaven? I'll check it with St. Peter at the gate- NFL 2006 Season
So how many TDs is LDT going to score against Denver's vaunted defense? Or will they stuff him again (like in previous years), and force Rivers to throw 40 times? Rivers has been a stud this year on my fantasy team (I picked him up in week 3 or so off the waiver wire!), but right now I'm leaning toward benching him for Jon Kitna who is playing the terrible Arizona Cardinals this week. The Lions had a bad game last week and I think they'll rebound against the Cards, because, well, the Cards would get beaten by the Sisters of the Poor right about now.- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
Ah, the Atomic Bitchwax. In the parlance of our times, their first album is "off-the-hizzy." Atomic Bitchwax - Crazed Fandango- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
Man, I love that song. I don't feel bad about letting you go I just feel sad about letting you know Great, great line. I've been there, and it ain't fun. Oh, and Jorian, I listened to that Nox song last night. It was very interesting, and skillfully played. Truthfully, it's not my cup of tea. That's just my preference though. The funny guys playing the classical tune was cool to watch. Mostly I'm stoked that I found the Afterhours CD Ballads for Little Hyenas at Record Exchange last night for $2.50 -- what a steal! I actually like the other song better, the one with lyrics. They both rock pretty well; I just think- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To

I'm often five to 10 minutes late for work. On those occasions, I try to stay five to 10 minutes late to make up for it though. The big boss is content as long as we are sitting at our desks for eight hours a day and looking busy. I'm sure they notice me slinking in at 9:05 a.m., so I make sure they notice when I'm leaving later then my co-workers. Of course, the boss of daily operations is in the office an extra half hour before everyone gets there and a half hour after everyone leaves, so I don't think I'll be upstaging him anytime soon.- What are you doing right now?

I'm not much of a Desire fan either. As far as that era of Dylan goes, I'd take Street Legal any day. I mean "Mozambique?" Come on!- What are you doing right now?
Skipping lunch to get more work done in a vain attempt to make my deadlines. Hmm... maybe I shouldn't be posting then. "Ah, but what's a few seconds every now and then," says the little devil hovering above my shoulder. I listen to him more often than I should. Also, drinking way too much coffee on an empty stomach. I'll pay for that later.- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To
I gotta say, that's something I haven't tried... I just hope it wasn't to "Mr. Mastodon Farm." There is no need to confirm or deny that statement. Please. On another Cake-related note, doesn't "Commissioning a Symphony in C" always make you feel like you're playing The Legend of Zelda? Hells yes. That song spoke to me back in junior high. It said, "Hi, I'm Alternative Rock! How about you ditch that Metallica crap and come over to my side of the dial! I know you'll like it over here... we've got pastries!" Steve Earle - South Nashville Blues- The Music Thread - Currently Listening To

1. The "funny guy" who yells "Play 'Free Bird'" up at the band. It's just so original! No one has ever done that before. I'm sure everyone thinks you are very, very clever. 2. Meatheads at concerts who take the concept of "mosh pit" as an equivalent to "gladatorial ring." 3. Also, on a related note, tall people at concerts who don't see anything wrong with impeding the view for the vertically-challenged crowd (of which I am a member). For crying out loud, you can dunk a basketball. Have some decency and go stand in the back. 4. People who think they are more qualified to coach a team than the actual coach. I believe there is an inverse relationship between the actual amount of knowledge one has about the strategy of a particular sport and the likelihood of verbally entreating the coach to "grow a pair and throw the ball" --- regardless of whether the situation calls for it. 5. Cable companies who cut you off when your bill is not even a week late. The check was in the mail, honest! - Legendary football coach Bo Schembechler dies
