  1. Wow... slick stuff. I love the bassline. So "umi" is "mother" in Arabic? The Beatles - Baby's In Black Great song, funny lip-synched performance.
  2. Razorlight - Fall to Pieces
  3. @ Kor: Yeah, I like that site because I don't even have to download the songs or have a media player in the background to listen to them at work. And the Whigs were on fire on that show. @ Baley: Those guys sound all right. And they're probably just indie dorks - I don't think they're "punk" enough to be PETA activists. I'm looking at you, John Feldmann. The Twilight Singers were on NPR's World Cafe yesterday. Dulli and Lanegan answer some questions and the band plays three songs. The whole thing is about 20-25 minutes long. LINK
  4. Top Secret! Another classic ZAZ joint. That's the one with Val Kilmer as the hero, right?
  5. Mmmmmmm.... yeah. ^ for the song, too! Psalm 62:11 - They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes. Afghan Whigs - My Curse Edit: fixed the link
  6. Man, Draken, I forgot about that song. It wasn't on the album, if I remember right, just the movie. It's like a fleshed-out version of "Empty Spaces." And, yeah, those flowers are... mesmerizing. Am I right? Handsome Boy Modeling School - Once Again (Here to Kick One for You)
  7. I get it! Did you know: Metallica used to open their concerts with that playing over the PA as they took the stage. Can't say I've seen any flicks lately. I did catch about 20 minutes of A Charlie Brown Christmas the other day though.
  8. Wow.... just wow. Sometimes I forget just how believable This is Spinal Tap really is... then I see real, irony-free heavy metal lyrics like those. Although the whole dog training metaphor in Tap's " " made that one much more fun. :D Frank Black - Superabound
  9. Gimme a day or two to digest it before I pass final judgment, heh. I've only listened to a few tracks so far, and it's exactly what I expected: Ness burning through his favorite old outlaw country songs and broken-hearted ballads. The Social D fans who hated Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell probably would hate this one too. If you like some rockabilly with your punk rock, as I do on occasion, you've got a good chance of liking this one. Mike Ness - Six More Miles (to the Graveyard)
  10. ^ Cool song. Mike Ness - Big Iron (Marty Robbins cover) In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead He was vicious and a killer though a youth of twenty-four And the notches on his pistol numbered one and nineteen more One and nineteen more
  11. The Donnas - Strutter (KISS cover) Man, these girls know how to rock out. Not in the yelping-I-want-to-be-PJ Harvey-so-much-it-hurts way, either, like that Yeah Yeah Yeahs crap. They're cute too. Except the bass player (ain't that always the way it goes ).
  12. LOL @ the Lebowski Urban Achievers. I think "cop out" is a more accurate description of the article than "sell out," and that's probably what that fella meant. I can see their point, but it's still pretty wishy-washy. Gimme a profile of someone who has done great things to change the world, not a forum for fake teenage drama queens! Or Chuck Norris. I could have lived with Chuck Norris.
  13. More football-related news (as I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate on honest work this Friday afternoon): Brady and Bridget are no more! NOW we know where that 78 yard, no-TD performance against the Dolphins came from last week! I thought this bit was funny:
  14. Strangely enough, the roommate in question discovered the joys of Phish at about the same time he plunged into that magical world himself. Damn hippies. Always eating all the cheese balls and never washing themselves. Goldfinger - Carlita
  15. Haha, that's right. "It's okay, baby. You can trust Ron Mexico." Seriously, what woman would believe your name was really Ron Mexico? I would have used Liam Luxembourg, myself. Or maybe Jerry Madagascar. Those are some sweet aliases.
  16. I agree; she wants to cash in. $6.3 million is probably a lot of money for a undrafted, third-string QB for the 'Phins. Poor Marcus.
  17. Mama Vick sure raised some classy boys. Now it's Marcus' turn to get in trouble. LINK
  18. How 'bout that Alex Smith! I didn't see the game, but apparently he threw for two and ran for one score in the fourth quarter to stop the Seahawks from clinching the division.
  19. I was waiting for a thread about this flick to pop up. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long. So what's the deal? It was a fantasy book written by some kid? Does it have any ties to known franchises, or is it a standalone novel? All I know is that I see an ad for it every time I turn on the TV, and that the early reviews I've read have not been kind.
  20. ^ Nice! I got burned out on Phish back in college because my roommate listened to them pretty much 24/7. That, more than any dislike for hemp jewelry or hacky-sack, forged my hatred of Phish and their hippie followers. Still, I admit they were great on their respective instruments and they wrote some very good songs. I mean, look at this Letterman performance from '94. And I know it's hard, but try to disregard their ridiculous appearance - they're actually ripping it up, and I give 'em props for that. Phish -
  21. Yeah, records make news and that buzz gives them a leg up in the award race. I don't know how many times I saw Hester's returns replayed this week. Hell, Young's stats are far from spectacular, but I think he has a chance just because he keeps leading the Titans to comeback victories.
  22. I would go with Colston, even though his injury is hurting his chances for the award, as the others (especially Young, despite his "meh" statline) have really come on strong lately.
  23. Not really, I just checked. Bushhas 405 rushing and 687 receiving for about 1,100. Jones-Drew has 666 rushing and 332 receiving for about 1,000. MJD is hustling for more than six yards per carry, too! Bush is at about three yards per carry and even his yard per reception average is less than Drew's.
  24. ^ Han Solo On topic: Maybe after that ridiculous game against the Colts, Maurice Jones-Drew will finally get some props, instead of being "that other running back from a Pac-10 school." I know, I know, Christopher Reeve could rush for 200 yards and 2 TDs against the Colts, but Drew has been all about the consistency this year. Check out the total TDs this year: MJD: 12 (scored in 9 games, including the last five) Bush: 7 (4 in one game)
  25. Interesting article! Although too many Brits are expatriating to the U.S. and stealing our women with their charming table manners and upperclass sense of sophistication. Or at least that's what I've gleaned from watching several American romantic comedies.
