The song is "A Little Respect," and Pidesco broadened my horizons with a Portugese band's version of it. My musical knowledge has been tested and found wanting, however, because I have never heard an Erasure song in my life (that I know of). I must have missed that scene, I guess. The singer for this band, which is named Silence 4, has a very nice voice that is capable of fragile falsetto and strident singing as well. The band is tight, too, once they kick it in after about a minute. Matthew Sweet - Everybody Knows This is Nowhere (Neil Young cover)

I was young, and still thought the fusion of rap and rock was a noble endeavor. :D But even in my youth, I always hated Korn. And yes, the song was good... although I have never heard the original. I liked how it picked up halfway in. Warren Zevon - Desperados Under the Eaves

I remember that song! I saw Hed P.E. when I was a sophomore in high school... must have been seven, eight years ago. They were antagonizing the crowd a lot, because no one was really there to see them. It was a four-band show, and they were the third band to play. I think I still have "Bartender" on my computer somewhere. Fun fact: Linkin Park opened that show. No one had heard of them yet, and "One Step Closer" had yet to burn up the charts. My friends and I were all pretty impressed and a few of us picked up their CD. I even praised the album in a review for the school newspaper. Edit: TL & the Pharmacists - 2nd Ave., 11 a.m.

I know, the lower level equipment is great too. I'm really beginning to appreciate anything the least bit magical. Actually I just pinched Greywolf's Long Sword +2 and I feel like I can take on the world. I'd kinda forgotten how good a game it is, I'm enjoying the plot and the questing far more than i have done with BG2 recently, maybe I've over played it over the years. Where you up to at the moment Drabek? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, without spoiling it for any weirdos like me that play famous games for the first time after they have been out for seven years, I think I can say that I have made my return to Candlekeep and now I'm on the lamb. I'm considering putting off my return to the big city to finish lots of little quests all over the place and hopefully get Imoen's inactive thief class back (I dueled her to mage at 6).

Badminton... at a party? That is genius! Also, kudos to the party-throwers for playing cool music and not caving in to "whatever makes the girls wanna dance." Whenever I tried to get inventive with a party mix, it usually fell flat. Then I would just retreat to more vanilla mixes with plenty of Snoop. Check out the video for The Afghan Whigs' "Gentlemen." I love how he plays the voyeur. Nobody does "menacing lecher" like Dulli. Oh, and any mix with late-Waits, nomeansno, 1965 and Liquid Swords would be a quite eclectic one. But you know that.

That Eyeball Skeleton stuff is actually good! Catchy guitar and guitar... just listened to "The Smoking Turtle." But now I'm gonna bring the funk with the Afghan Whigs channeling Stevie Wonder. Going to Town

Both good lists. Brady and P. Manning are far ahead of the rest, after that I'd say McNabb, Brees, Hasselbeck and Bulger (12 TDs, 1 INT, that's why) are the next tier. Grossman is definitely playing top-tier ball, but I don't think that would be happening without his supporting cast. I'd drop Palmer into the third tier with Michael Vick, Trent Green and Phillip Rivers, who also wouldn't be having as great a year if he didn't have a strong running game for defenses to focus on. The Burger is so hot and cold... I mean he was in the zone against Atlanta before he got knocked out - but then he'll play an awful game the next week.

I've been having a blast with BG tutu as well. I really like the low-level adventuring. It's such a big deal when you get your first level 3 spell, because they can be devastating. It makes all that babysitting of the mage worthwhile! My only problem is I'm too eager to burn through the story, so I'm missing sidequests and exploration all over the place.

Yes, yes, yes. Beautiful. Wilco's "Summerteeth" has been making its way back into my CD player. Wilco - Via Chicago I dreamed about killing you again last night And it felt all right to me Dying on the banks of Embarcadero skies I sat and watched you bleed Buried you alive in a fireworks display Raining down on me You cold, hot blood ran away from me To the sea

Ah cool. Thought so. It appears Gnarls Barkley has released as the next single, and has a pretty slick video to go along with it.

Okay, so I was listening to this DJ who calls himself "Dr. Metal" Friday afternoon on the way home from work and I heard the most ridiculous song from a band called Absolute Steel. I guess they're Norwegian, so maybe some of you fellas have heard them. The song was "Beer Run," and it was so over-the-top I thought of a harder-rocking Motley Crue. Anyway, here's the album cover: And the track listing: 1. High Heels and Fishnet Stockings 2. Beer Run 3. Kick 4. Rough Love (Tender Heart) 5. Deeper 6. Juicy Lucy 7. Too Slow Above 8. Deliverance 9. Opus Suite

Ah, I knew you'd remind me of more bands from the great North. Don't you guys have some sort of patriotic radio requirements? I think I remember reading that some percentage of Canadian DJs playlists had to be composed of Canadian artists. The Tragically Hip - Litttle Bones two-fifty for an eyeball and a buck and a half for an ear happy hour, happy hour happy hour is here (that's kind of creepy)

Was it.... Satan? He gives those to all the boys. Business casual, gents. Tan, slightly rumpled corduroys and a dark gray polo.

I'll probably watch tonight's game between the Vikes and the Pats, as I'm curious how it will end up. Hopefully, Chester Taylor will have another huge game and Doug Gabriel will catch a TD or two, because they're both on my fantasy team and I'm 10 points down. My opponent had Marques Colston and Vinitieri... grrr.

Jeeeee-zus Christ! Somebody hire a copy editor! Where did you get that, P? I mean, some modder wrote that for his or her NWN module, right? No one was paid to write that, right? Edit: added the incredulous questions

I am reliably informed that the American Spanish doesn't use second person plural, merely duplicating the third-person polite, instead. (Funnily enough, it was a German who told me. :D ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's true! But my professor was originally from Spain and used the Castillian (sp.?) dialect, so we had to learn the vosotros forms anyway. He wanted us to learn "true" Spanish, not the bastardized form used in the states and Mexico. The man was definitely a lingual elitist. -
I wonder if they meant vacillate? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know, several people I know have a particular style of dancing that could be described as "oscillating wildly." Wilco - Candyfloss

The "wife-beater" was brought to the masses by Kid Rock, that idiot who was married to Pamela Anderson for a while. I'm not calling him an idiot because of his music (which is bad, though), but because she's been with Tommy Lee, man. You just can't compete with that. Anyway, t-shirt and jeans, yo. And I think Feng's shirt gave me a seizure.

Ha, I never got much past the present and past tenses in my three years of Spanish. I bet I could still do present tense though. Hablo, hablas, habla, hablamos, hablais, hablan And "hablando" is "speaking." So I can do that one, but those irregular verbs always get me. Anyway, I'm drinking cheap red wine and strumming the ol' acoustic guitar. Pretty pysched for "Free Lunch Monday," a little tactic my employer implemented to build team morale. It works like a charm, especially for people like me who are easily bought. -
Live in 1987 (w00t) Sounds like a metal version of a Castlevania soundtrack, 15 years before the minibosses. As it was the 80s, these guys brought the too, though.

@Pidesco: Glad you're enjoying the Petra Haden... I heard she was doing an acappella full-album-cover of The Who Sell Out (commercials and all!), and it piqued my interest - so I checked her out and found that gem. @Kor: That is one soulful rendition of our national anthem. Paul Gilbert - Boku No Atama This is a good example of what can happen when an American musician becomes huge in Japan and starts writing and singing in Japanese. The man is an absolute nutcase, but he sure can play guitar. "My head is made of tomatoes, but I like tomatoes more than eggplant, and my heart is made of strawberries, but I like strawberries more than pears.... that's the basic gist of it." Edit because I forgot the link.
