  1. I was reading over the delicious strategy guide excerpt that is now available on the LucasArts site when I noticed this tidbit: "For scouts and droids, dexterity is the most important physical attribute because of the bonuses granted to ranged attack rolls. The Two-Weapon Finesse feats allow a nimble but weak character (like Visas Marr) to add their DEX modifier to melee and lightsaber attacks (but damage rolls still use your STR bonus, as normal)." In KOTOR, your "To hit" rating with a lightsaber was modified by STR or DEX, whichever was higher. I never played Star Wars PnP, but I remember some people complaining about this, because in Star Wars d20 or PnP or whatever the player needed to invest a feat to get that ability. It seems in KOTOR 2 that STR modifies all melee combat unless you take this feat. Now, the wording here makes me wonder... will we be adding our DEX modifier to the STR modifier or only replacing it, as was done in KOTOR with no feat needed? Also, why would we need to take this feat multiple times, as is suggested by the plural tense? It seems like the sort of ability that should only need learning once. These nitpicky wording questions might be involuntary, overzealous copy editing on my part, or simply mistakes in the guide. For instance, later in the guide I found this statement, which seemingly contradicts the earlier mention (it also drops the confusing "Two" prefix): "Weapon Finesse allows you to use your DEX bonus (instead of STR) with melee attacks, but those in melee generally wear armor that limits this feat
  2. LS Male Sentinel/Weapons Master first time through... it looks like skills will be much more useful this time. STR 12 DEX 14 CON 12 INT 14 WIS 12 CHA 14 I will pump dex at level-ups, and take a level of toughness and max dueling to make this guy hard to kill, because he won't be a damage factory right away.
  3. Hahaha, I've been found out! Nice ones yourself ....Wally Backman, oh man I'm actually a little across the border in that damn red state that f*cked it all up a month ago. But I've always loved the 'Burgh teams, and I thought this fit better than Darth Bonilla, Darth Van Slyke or Darth "Spanky" LaValliere. Maybe an irish Sith Lord.... Darth O'Donnell? Darth Lemieux doesn't sound too bad...
  4. Lo Pan. What if two of the NPCs have green eyes? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then he would become one powerful SOB. And they are hinting at multiple love interests for the game....
  5. Lo Pan.... in honor of a real perpetuator of asskicking. Nah, I'll probably go with a random first name that sounds good with Deschain in homage to Steven King's Dark Tower books. Making Roland of Gilead in KOTOR was an interesting exercise in role-playing. Dual-wielding ranged specialist, tough as nails, with no loyalty but to his quest.
  6. Cool guys thanks for the responses. Between the extras and the Yavin outpost-thing I almost got the PC version just to try them out. Maybe you PC users will get something cool added on at the last second again.
  7. I have been paying pretty close attention to any news concerning the game and I haven't seen any mention of the LS/DS Masteries that were in the PC version of KOTOR. I have the Xbox version, so I never actually got to check this feature out. Naturally, I end up a bit on the lighter side of neutral, not the blinding Mother Teresa-light that is needed to get the mastery perks. I am tempted to sometimes "do things" that will earn me cash to buy cool stuff. I think this is a more realistic simulation of the internal conflict between dark and light than refusing a reward just for the extra light side points getting you closer to that +3 CON or whatever the perks are. So what do you guys think? Should characters be rewarded for staying absolutely loyal to their chosen side of the force? Also, if I've missed some news clipping stating that masteries ARE in KOTOR 2, please let me know.
  8. Today I give thanks.... that I am a North American Xbox user! :D
  9. I always felt that I had to choose the dual sabers feat just to use as many crystals as I could. I never felt that taking dueling made up for losing the effects of two crystals. I think that limiting certain styles to single saber would make that path more attractive for people. Also, being able to upgrade the lens, emitter, ect. ect. on the saber itself might help make single saber a viable option this time around.
  10. I agree that the saber styles should only apply to the single saber path. It would be a good trade-off - the added damage (and crystals, for dual sabers) of two sabers or a double-bladed saber or the versatility of a single saber with options for better defense, better one on one fighting, ect. depending on which stance you take.
  11. I really wanted more development of Darth Bandon. While lower profile characters like Yuthura Ban were fleshed out nicely, he seemed like a bare sketch of a Sith thug. Maybe Calo Nord stole some of his thunder as the guy hunting you down for the first part of the game, but the understudy of the Sith Lord needed more face time. Even the damn wookiee had more lines than Bandon. Oh yeah, and he was easssssy. At least this looks fixed for KOTOR 2. We've been led to believe we will be encountering Sion quite a few times in this game. Here's hoping.
  12. Wow.... I had some serious deja vu when I read the first post of this topic. Of course, that's because I read it a long time ago Anyway, kudos on actually checking out the old posts for info. I'm sure the forum elders get quite tired of answering the same questions every week asked from a different newb, so I bet they appreciate it. And hell, we still don't know any more about this character than we did back in August, so speculate allllll night long!
  13. Oh, and thanks for the correction on the Sentinel save numbers. Maybe I thought they were higher because I usually start with scouts. I loooooove the scout class. Implant for free, flurry, uncanny dodge AND repair as a class skill? Awesome.
  14. Yeah, that was pretty dumb. I only used a soldier starting class once, and I never put a feat into heavy armor proficiency for my scouts, so I usually ended up selling the Sith mask off. It was quite a nice addition for that soldier/consular though.
  15. I suppose the devs had to allow for the possibility that someone might want to use heavy armor for their Jedi PC. I don't know why anyone would want to limit their dex bonus or lose the ability to use armor-restrictive force powers. Hell, now that the robes look cool there's really no reason to wear armor at all. What I want to know is this: Since Sentinels are basically the scout of the Jedi classes, will they get Implant for free? Cause if you add that onto immunities, great saves and the increased emphasis on skills in this game and I just might have to play as one.
  16. My favourite build (also Scout) is pretty similar except that I take Dex at 16 and Wis 10. This is because I go for a Guardian Light Side Master with the Wis boosting LS-only robe and headgear. I also prefer an all-Jedi party so with the likes of Jolee there to back me up I have more than enough force points for my needs. I take Dex at an even number because, as a Scout 8/ Guardian 12 I can hit Dex 26 from level ups and that level 3 implant which gives +5 Dex. In general I don't worry too much about odds or evens, if I can't make the best use of an item one of the NPCs usually can and items give both odd and even bonuses. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very interesting... I have the Xbox version (w/o downloadable content) so I never had the "mastery" bonuses that PC users had. I wonder if there will be mastery bonuses in KOTOR 2. I don't really like the idea, because I tend to play neutral anyway, and I don't like missing out.
  17. F*ck your couch Darkness!
  18. You get 200,000 cool points in my book for referencing Street Fighter. And the reference is valid, too. Scion is a thug. I am quite pumped that the apprentice will actually have more than two lines and an anticlimatic fight scene this time. 'Cuz Bandon sucked as a character. You need to develop the apprentice more than they did with him. That is one of my only complaints with the first KOTOR.
  19. I'm leaning toward playing as a Guardian, because I really want to see how much damage a Guardian/Weapons Master can deal out. The new saber styles are quite intriguing too. If I give him 14 INT I will still have a decent amount of skill points to throw around too, so I won't miss out too much. The only thing that could sway me to a Sentinel is some sweet free feats. For instance, if they get implant for free like scouts did I might have to alter my plans. :D
  20. And since we're just speculating anyway, I have my doubts about the protocol droid's demise being an accident. HK droids have been shown to be quite capable of independent action and are programmed to seize any opportunity to get closer to its target...
  21. Well, the owner of the datapad knows the difference between a HK droid and a protocol droid; he (or she) uses both terms on the datapad. And I doubt anyone familiar with HK-47 would refer to him as a protocol droid.
  22. Well, I usually picked scout as the first class because of high saving throws and quality free feats. I haven't really decided what I'll start as in KOTOR 2. I usually choose 15 Dex and keep the others at even numbers. If I go guardian it's usually 14 STR, 15 DEX, 10 CON, 14 INT, 12 WIS and 12 CHA and I put all my points into Dex, upping other stuff with items. For a Sentinel I like to drop the INT to 10 because of the already high amount of skills and use those points to buff WIS and CHA to 14 each. Moving two from STR to CON makes up some hit points, but with high defense and immunities you don't really need it. I think this strategy is pretty universal; does anyone have other cool builds?
  23. HA! New screenshot with Atton Seriously, this guy needs to hit on every girl in the game. I will laugh so hard... Maybe then people will stop calling him gay.
  24. Awesome... any info is good info. This influence stuff sounds interesting. And those are some QUALITY screenshots!
  25. I think George is just making it up as he goes along... which is his prerogative, it's his work after all. And how strong are Jedi? Well, I heard that there was this Jedi who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the Jedi killed the whole town! And that's what I call REAL Ultimate Power!
