I remember when I bought Fallout 1 brand new from the shop. The manual was incredible and very detailed. Its cool to save on paper and everything but why don't developers make a really cool interactive PDF or something similar that comes with the software. Perferably something you could open up in game and out of game and just read. A real in depth explaantion of the rulesystem and game mechancis ... extended tutorial type information could be included as well for new players. Give us the same attention to detail and care as the old games but just put it in digital form if the paper is an issue.

Open Letter to Obsidian
MonkeyLungs replied to Lycaerix's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Even Feargus made it clear that the way forward is streamlining. It was stated in an interview recently that gamers nowadays wouldn't even make it past character creation in Icewind Dale because you had to roll 6 AD&D characters before you ever got to the game. People today that love streamlined games don't really like anything about he old games except the cool characters and the stories and the levelling up. All the in depth mechanics and reading and having the ruleset be such a part of the gameplay are just aspects not respected by NewFans. -

Some updates re: feedback
MonkeyLungs replied to Nathaniel Chapman's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
There were people trying to figure out how the saves and the MP would work in DS3 for a long time. Plenty of people spoke up about perceived issues with MP long before the demo ever got released. Obsidian dodged questions about the mechanics of the game over and over. The writing was on the wall. Now the game is out and the camera, tethered MP, lack of persistent character saves is just generating negative feedback from fans and critics all over the internet. -
I was joking around ... gosh ... I mean, come on!

Supposing MP changes were possible...

People on separate consoles or PC's should have their own screen. PERIOD. The only time gamers should share a screen is if they are sharing a machine. -

I stand by things I sell to people. If they aren't happy with what I sell, I take it back. I was joking about the devs paying back out of pocket lol but Sega SHOULD refund people's money if they aren't happy with their purchase. -

Sacred 2? Nope multiplayer you shared a co-op screen. ie. not split screen. I know for offline multiplayer you shared one screen.. but online I am not sure about. BULLSNAPS BIG BIG BS. The only time you share a screen is when you are playing two players from one console. Any other multiplayer each gamer gets their own screen, that is for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Too Human. Each player gets their own screen. -

I'm glad you love the game so much! I don't know about best game ever myself, but it sure beats the **** out of the originals! LOL. Average title that doesn't try to do anything more than play it safe. -

This game is a modern day legend taking the ARPG community by storm. Probably the best game ever made. That's the focus of the game! Being the best. -
Beat the game - a bit short :-(

The Obsidian Defense Squad are big giant cheerleaders for streamlining, those 6 hour RPG's will be loved around here. Longer story? "Not the focus of the game" It felt like it was over too fast "Not the focus of the game" I can't choose what abilities to level up? "The game does it for you to keep your character in line with the lore of the awesome story and Obsidian dialogue, the focus of the game is to have your character be what the developers want at any time so you can fit in with the story better. " I kind of want a more in depth experience ... "Not the focus of the game!" -

Obsidian developers should refund your money from their personal funds. It's the honorable thing to do. -
Multiplayer shared screen!?

I'm guessing real patching is probably not going to happen ... couple quick fixes. Things working as intended though most likely will not be changed ... -

NONE of this stuff is acceptable for consoles. There are PSP titles with more robust character ssystems and more features for MP than DS3. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF CONSOLES. There are PSP games that don't have a shared screen in multiuplayer, don't give the host all the loot/gold in MP, and that allow for persistent character saves. PSP GAMES! The consoles are NOT the mother****ing limitation here. -
The most successful title in modern history, an instant classic!

DS3 Rminds me of Icewind Dale
MonkeyLungs replied to LordFess's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Dark Alliance 2 has much more features and replay value than DS3. So it's the streamlined spiritual successor? Not to mention shouldn't this game feel like the successor to DS1 and 2? Oh wait "NOT THE FOCUS OF THE GAME!" -
Multiplayer shared screen!?
MonkeyLungs replied to Sarge230's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
People on separate PC's or separate consoles shoud have THEIR OWN SCREEN. This shouldn't even be a discussion and this game should not have been released with a tethered camera. All this is is doing is hurting Obsidian through word of mouth all around the net. Not cool. -
Penny Arcade on DSIII
MonkeyLungs replied to lasthearth's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
That lack of "specific content that would make persistent play valuable" is also a big problem. Some may not see it as such but for some that lack of content and lack of gameplay options is a massive negative. -
Multiplayer Questions/Comments
MonkeyLungs replied to Bakercompany86's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
My argument would be that not having persistent character saves takes away alot of the fun for me. -
That's all people say? I'll leave the verdict on that up to the people. I can name way more things than the distance of the camera from the ground wrong with MP. That's not all people say, that's all they say that's a valid criticism of the multiplayer beyond I want this game to be Sacred 2/Diablo/Dungeon Siege. You might as well argue that because MMORPGs are huge successes, all RPGs must have the similar multiplayer focus. This is absolutley disnengenous and intellectual dishonest comment.

DS3 Rminds me of Icewind Dale
MonkeyLungs replied to LordFess's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Icewind Dale is a major step up from this title but I'm sure someone could draw similarities. My issue with such comparison is that Icewind Dale is a feature rich title that provided value to the gamer and didn't trreat the audience like morons. -

Multiplayer shared screen!?
MonkeyLungs replied to Sarge230's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
The MP is super gimp ... el gimptastico streamlinifico. Shared screen on separate consoles or separate PC's is inexcusable.
