  1. The gameplay of DS3 is only 'loads better' to people who like to push buttons and appreciate the more actiony take on combat.
  2. You can tell yourself that all you want. I don't mind. Amazon.com is the primary online retailer for North America for video games, you can watch trends in videogames sales from their website. Yes more sources would be good, that sounds like more work though. I'm confident in my hypothesis that DS3 is selling very badly on consoles though. Do you have a counter hypothesis to present or do you just not like me?
  3. No. Sacred 2 anhiliates DS3 in graphics. Graphics encompass all aspects of the visual art presented to you. Sacred 2 has a massive open world with beautiful landscapes and hidden secrets everywhere. I didn't even get the achie vement for exploring 60% of the map until hundreds of hours into the game. In cities you can enter all the homes and castles. There are dungeons everywhere. Character models are better in DS3 but everything else pales in comparison. Lack of enough different armor and weapon types detracts from the better looking character models of DS3 though. As far as lovingly crafted game worlds go DS3 isn't even in the same league/ballpark/sport as Sacred 2.
  4. The sales ranking for Amazon.com Xbox 360 titles dropped from #50 yestdary to #78 today. Yestrday the title was ranked #54 on PS3 sales ... I did not check PS3 today. The game is tanking on consoles, and tanking hard.
  5. Maybe you are right. I only visit 3 gaming related forums, so I can't argue with you. I also don't read reviews very often, so again you are probably right. All I know is that there were some decisions regarding MP that were weird, but they don't ruin the game for me. Let us hope they will have a bigger team working on a possible sequel. I don't pretend that the game is perfect, but I don't pretend that I didn't have fun, even in the somewhat flawed online co-op. I actually wish they would have just expanded the single player more, maybe even made it more of an rpg and let you have all four characters in a party for single player anf just focussed on making that part really really good. Then maybe included only couch co-op as an extra feature. There might have been some griping but a really long, in dpeth single player experience would make up for the MP deficiency. Right now we have short, streamlined game, with really gimp MP. The lack of persistent character saves and tethered online camera are such recurring complaints. Gamers really don't like these two points. The other super conmplaint was Pc controls but those are getting fixed. I just want Obsidian to make a legendary single player RPG of entirely their own creation, their own universe, etc. This engine seems like a stable one and I hope they really profit from the engine since Ds3 doesn't seem to be raking in the cash. EDIT: and BTW the game is at #78 on Amazon.com for Xbox 360. Down from #50 yesterday. Might be time to drop the proce to $29.99. I think $29.99 should have been the asking price to be honest with plans to drop to $20 after 3 months of sales and add the game to both PSN and Xbox Live as a downloadable title.
  6. Your sarcasm and snarky short replys are not on topic nor are they informative. You did know that stuff though, so do most people, it wasn't like what I wrote was a unique conclusion.
  7. I think it is because of gimped Multiplayer. I also think it is because Obsidian thought dialogue wheel was an adequate replacement for all the other features they chose to ignore when building an ARPG. Persistent character saves, newgame+, multiple gameplay modes like free mode and PvP. Word of mouth is huge for games. Fans can be the deathknell for a company (HELLO FLAGSHIP!) or fans can be the most ultimate viral marketing team ever created. Its all about how you treat your fans, and the features set you choose for your game is an integral part of the way you treat your fans. Contrary to some kind of weird gaming industry hubris or mental blockage that say streamlining rpg's is a good way to get more sales I am firmly of the belief this is wrong. I think the way to sell more rpg's, whether they be action rpg's or old school heavy dialogue rpg's, is to make more complex and better rpg's.
  8. If you hasd an arena like that wouldn't it be even better if not only horde mode was available but also PvP? They have to implement persistent character saves for either of these things to happen though and persistent character saves will most likely not happen. Interest in this game on consoles is very low and the game ranks at #78 in top sell on amazon.com xbox 360 right now. This title just got released and it is tanking hard. I will be very surprised if consoles even get any DLC.
  9. The reaction to MP on THIS website is 'mixed' ... I guess. It was universally panned br game reviews from so called pros and from user reviews all over the internet. The general consensus is easy to ascertain and is quite clear, the world agrees, the MP is bad. EDIT: Some of you fine folks on this website like it, but you are pretty much alone in that sentiment. Also, the game is already below #50 on sales ranking on Amazon.com for both PS3 and Xbox 360, that's not good bros.
  10. Multiplayer that allows for more freedom ... ie persistent characters and newgame+ and different difficulty levels and free mode and story mode DOES NOT IN ANY WAY LIMIT THE ABILITY FOR FRIENDS TO CREATE THE EXACT SAME TAILORED TO THEIR GROUP EXPERIENCE THAT THIS GAME OFFERS. It just so happens that you can get this same DS3 style experience (with a better camera) AND have tons of other options. I can get my group of gamer friends together and do a focussed group specific playthough of Sacred 2 or Borderlands, or even D2, and we can all create characters to only play the game with each other. We can get the exact same experience people claim is some kind of unique feature to DS3 AND AND AND have tons of other options available to us.
  11. Good points. Seem to line up very well with complaints from around the net. For a game that is so short and streamlined out so many features you would think there would be more story reactivity involved in the game and very unique class quests for each individual character. Something that would make eaxch short playthrough really different.
  12. I think it is anoverwhelming majority of fans that support removing the helmet during cutscenes. The best solution would be a toggle that not only makes helmets visible/invisible during play but also during cutscenes. Then everyone is stoked.
  13. Yoomazir is not necessarily a very big Bioware fan BTW. Why do are you guys making such huge leaps in logic? His reference to ME was concerned with the conversation dialogue wheel and conversation animations.
  14. No you are correct they remove them in cutscenes. They did not remove them in ME2 cutscenes and fans went ape. They are now removing them during cutscenes in ME3 IIRC ...
  15. Bioware removes the helmets in cutscenes in DA games and now for Me3 because they like to showcase their facial animation system. Bioware player overwhelmingly prefer a helmet toggle as well so thats why Bioware allows players to choose if they want helmets to be visible at all.
  16. Yoomazir never said it was a Mass Effect wannabe. Just that it had Mass Effect style dialogue wheel that felt unnecessary for this genre.
  17. F:NV = Cool AP = Way underrated. Cool game DS3 = OK game (worth $20 - $30)
  18. The funny is that the OP clearly said Mass Effect style conversations. I thought it was quite obvius what he meant, ie dialogue wheel. Also the guy that refuted the OP might want to reconsider whether or not Mass Effect has first person shooter mechanics. I would argue that Mass Effect has THIRD person shooter mechanics ... with the ability to zoom to a first person perspective for long range which happens to be a standard part of thrid person perspective games.
  19. I agree. Lack of ambition and playing it safe combined with too much streamlining as well as using the Dungeon Siege name without honoring the original gameplay just seem to be strange decisions. Apparently the really admanant and 'fanboy-like' defenders of this title are in the serious minority though. The game is #50 on Amazon for both Xbox 360 and PSN games. Amazon reviews are pretty similar to the stuff people have complained about here. There is a group of people on this website that seem to be icapable of understanding that I can like a game and slam it to the ground for the parts that are wtf inducing. I've tried to make it clear that I am critical of games I like and I don't really even talk about games I don't like but people don't seem to get it. I mean I love Too Human, people hate that game it doesn't bother me. Its one of my favorite Xbox 360 ARPG's and I'd still only rate it 6 - 6.5, it has serious flaws that shouldn't be overlooked even by someone who enjoys it. I want games to actually advance, not just 'get prettier'. Streamlining sucks.
  20. Local co-op is always a GOOD thing. That commercial was really cool (as far as commercials go). Bravo to whomever produced that.
  21. Infinite dodge rolling is kind of OP. You can do the same with Anjali ... poor mobs!
  22. That really really cool. I hope voice actors know that even jaded gamers like me, that don't even really care if a a game has VO or not, very much appreciate it when a voice actor respects their audience and tries to 'get into the game world/lore' so to speak.
