  1. My 80 CHF (different currency) weren't wasted. Got a decent amount of fun out of it. The features listed for example are pretty uninteresting to me. On the other hand DSIII does some things/features better I'm more interested in regarding games. Not to say that the same counts for you (it obviously don't) and that you are not justified, just saying that there are different opinions. So you aren't still playing Dungeon Siege 3 online? Did you already beat the game with all four characters? Getting "a decent amount of fun" doesn't sound satisfactoy to me, you should be way more stoked about it. I was hoping the ardent defensders of the title would be showing a little more enthusiasm still.
  2. It has just as good of an iso view as dungeon siege 3. It's an action rpg looting dungeon crawler game. Those are quite the similarites whether your rage induced bias can see them or not.
  3. Disadvantage of the game then? It should look good in either perspective and be able to support full 3rd person over the shoulder view and an isometric view. People here like to make excuses for Obsidian and you guys aren't doing them any favors. You should be encouraging them to challenge themselves. BTW Too Human has full over the shoulder 3rd person camera and a semi-iso view ... so Dyack can do it but Obsidian cannot into multiple varied camera angles? I don't see why that would be acceptable to any gamer, fan or not. We should be pushing for more options, more content, more skilled development, more legendary titles, not settling for medicroty and making excuses for the devs about their budget and time constraints.
  4. I think this game should be able to support a full over the shoulder 3rd person camera and an isometric camera view (or at least the semi-iso camera we have now). Too Human did it, so what's holding Obsidian back?
  5. There's totally no problems with the multiplayer guys ... it's perfect. Can I join the ODS now?
  6. That doesn't make it ok. Also they documented subsequent ones. This shouldn't be arbitrary ... just document all changes to the software people purchase. Even if it something like: Fixed some spelling errors. It is still better to provide documentation of those changes to fans than not to. It gives fans a measure of what the post game support is focussed on and can help the community to provide ideas for future patches.
  7. I'm just curious as to what exactly it fixes. Also the PC version gets posts on the forums talking about their patches ... why not treat the console fanbase the same way and keep them informed too? I think its good that they patched the game because it shows interest in post game support now I just want them to follow up with a little post telling us what got fixed. That just doesn't seem like a very big request to me and it serves to help out the consumer and Obsidian. Also it isn't crunchtime for DS3 anymore its post game support time and they have made plenty of posts addressing the PC players but nothing speaking directly to console users as far as concerns patches both present and future.
  8. An excuse isn't needed. How will it change your life not knowing 1-2 insignificant changes? A large amount of patchlogs don't even list the most minor of the changes, so aren't "complete" either. Whats your problem here to begin with? Complaining for the sake of complaining? I just think posting a patchlog for the console patch would be cool. It's standard for PC but hasn't become something that has caught on with consoles and I think it should. "Here's our patch, it alters your software you purchased from us in the follwing ways: ....'technical stuff'" They want our money, I want better customer service. These guys don't work on a chain gang brah, they have a sweet job making a living wage in an air conditioned office. I'm not asking them to spilt blue rock with an axe all day or anything.
  9. That's no excuse. It only takes two minutes to post a patch log for Xbox 360 Title Update 1 thread.
  10. A patch log would still be nice. Its standard on PC but would be nice for consoles as well. It doesn't matter that much but knowing what is fixed is better than not knowing. Its good that there is some support at least though.
  11. Thanks but I meant the Dungeon Siege patch for Xbox 360 ... this thread has been here for days and not a single employee can just chime in and tell us exactly what the patch fixes.
  12. So still no word on what the patch fixes? Is it like a big secret or something?
  13. Yeah it is a MS thing. I think the original limit was 4 MB ... has to do with the fact that there are some Xbox 360 sku's that don't come with a hard drive or other memory unit so patch's are generally (except the 8MB and up ones) stored in the temporary cache on the console.
  14. A new record I think. Is it a good patch? I was getting corrupt save games all the time after the zion patch. I use multiple saves but still annoying.
  15. They should have just built on what DS 1 and 2 brought before. Party based dungeon crawler with open ended stat/skill progression, seamless levels, tons and tons of loot and a mule, in depth multiplayer support and a community toolset. They could have improved on making the combat less passive but buidling on its strengths in the character progression system and the party based approach. They could have worked to release an even better toolset for the public to create great mods and they could have focussed on building a thriving MP community. Obsidian could have respected Chris Taylor's original vision for Dungeon Siege a bit more and just worked to improve it in the areas where it needed it but not completely reboot the game mechanics. That's what Chris gets for selling out his own idea though but I do feel bad for the guy. I hope he at least got paid well.
  16. Seriously, what does it fix? And yeah 4MB is about as big as most Xbox patches get. F:NV has an 8 MB that saves on the harddrive instead of the cache ... largest patch I have ever seen on Xbox Live.
  17. Sacred 2 has so many quests with quite intrictae storylines. Some you have to really get out into the wilds of the maps to find. Just because you have to read instead of listen to voice overs doesn't mean there is no meaning to the quests. I prefer an ARPG to be minimally voiced, Sacred 2 handles this just fine. I'm not the biggest fan of voice over for all lines in an RPG anyway, even when the voice over is good. I just think all those resources would be better spent on gameplay. Going full voice over adds limitatuions to dialogue as well in that the more depth you want in your dialgue system the more cost you incur for your voice over work and this can lead to a streamlined story or a streamlined amount of quests. Sacred 2 has over 600 quests .... they really don't all need to voiced, reading them is really cool too.
  18. I think its best when the game lets you do both. Story based single player and free mode SP, story based MP and free mode MP and MP PvP ... <--- That's what i would like to see in alll ARPG's. If the game is missing one of those modes then I consider that a deficiency. EDIT: And I have to say I consider those 5 modes of gameplay to be the baseline and woudl not complain if there were more modes available. I want developers to try and make us the last game we ever need to play. They will fail of couorse, because we are gamers, but the closer they get to that goasl the better the game wil be for fans of that genre. DS3 has a really meager feature list and lacks so many options I consider essential.
  19. I just think who stays or goes or who has or has not crossed the wrong boundaries is up to the mods and admins. I would rather everyone voice their opinion without feeling like they have to fit in to do so.
  20. Uh ... yeah you've overstayed yer welcome sonny, this is a tiny town and we don't want you comin' round. /pitchforks provided by Obsidian Defense Squad!
  21. I also wonder why so many features that seem essential to me were left out. Further, I think it was disingenuous to use the Dungeon Siege name if they weren't going to at least have as many basic features as the other games. The MP is 100% not appealing to me. Lack of persistent character saves and the tethered camera is the kill shot from the game to my ability to enjoy MP. The tethered camera in online MP is a technical deficiency that should never be repeated in any game ever again.
  22. The fact that this game is named DUNGEON SIEG 3 means that the first two games should be considered. How can you have an honest conversation with anyone about Dungeon Siege THREE without considering Dungeon Siege ONE & TWO?
  23. It isn't the fault of the customer if they don't enjoy a product. Your assessment of the industry is different than mine as well. I think game developers are trying to hard to please "bigger audiences" by catching some kind of crossover audience purchases. Study the genre of games you make and try to make the best one in the genre. The reason why certain features become kind of standard is because people really enjoy them. After Halo on original Xbox their control scheme became the default for console shooters. Gamers, by and large, loved it. Likewise with replayability options and continued advancement of a character in ARPG's ... people love this part of ARPG's and to ignore it is grievous error. The folks who are fine with a single playthrough won't be hurt by having more replayability options but the other crowd will greatly benefit. Even casual gamers benefit from a game with a thriving hardcore fanbase. If game developers keep streamlining away features that ADD REAL VALUE to a game in favor of "pretty graphics" and "voice acting" then I hope a bunch of them do go out of business because it will mean that gamers are starting to demand more features and more gameplay options for their money.
  24. I would love to see Icewind Dale 3 but not if the feature list and options for gameplay got streamlined. It would also need to be a title with heavy PC focus as the primary platform to take advantage of the complexity of the PC and only then ported to console. I say this as a console gamer. I would much rather the devs make a game very complex and intricate and have to be creative to port all the functionality to console rather than see them aim for the easiest target from the get go.
  25. Yeah but people here like to claim that DS1 and 2 have no fans, or that if there are fans there aren't many, or that if maybe there are quite a bit they don't matter.
