Step 1: Multiply prices by 1.64 Step 2: Don't buy anything on Origin because 1.64x the UK sale price is full price in NA.

Floored last night/this morning by Atlus' master-level trolling (SD non-canon P3/4 crossover 1st person dungeon crawler with scooby-doo style logo for 3DS, P4 rhythm/dancing game for Vita,) of the Persona fanbase before announcing Persona 5 (winter 2014, PS3.)

Where in the Hardcore videogamers' Rulebook does it postulate you have to play D&D computer games to qualify as a "hardcore" gamer, as opposed to "a D&D nerd who owns a PC"? I mean, since you have it on hand, and all. Someone who spends hundreds or thousands of hours playing old-school shooter games on the hardest difficulty to achieve the highest scores and least number of lives lost over the course of the game isn't hardcore if they didn't play Baldur's Gate when it was new? They might not be great at D&D, but they're in a whole other world compared to a person who devotes their game time to RPGs. As is the case with all reviews, they are opinions. If you don't agree, then that's the end of it. No game is objectively good or bad, games are just like morality and ethics; fundamentally abstract, arbitrary concepts constructed by human minds, nothing more than an elaboration on basic genetic imperatives (societies improve survivability, societies need rules to function, games consist of behavior within a framework of rules, etc.) The universe has no concept of "games." Quantum Mechanics will not provide mathematical proofs as to which edition of D&D is objectively superior to the others.

Disclaimer: Thinks all japanese comics and games are for children/teenagers. Kind of like how western comics and video games are for all kids. Incidentally, Atlus is rumored to be announcing two new Persona games on the 24th.

Save scumming
AGX-17 replied to HardRains's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Do so many people have so little self-control that they need the developers to design anti-save-scumming measures into the game? Turning it from an IE-inspired game to a Rogue-inspired game would be a contradiction of what I assume most backers were backing for. -
Last of Us prequel DLC announced. That's news, so... That's entirely a matter of personal perspective/opinion. To apply some sort of humanistic/philosophical meaning to something which has no meaning is a solid definition of irrationality. A fart is a natural process resulting from the activities of bacteria in your colon. It was bacteria that produced the gasses which build up to a high enough pressure that they cannot be contained.

Translations
AGX-17 replied to jerf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Fan translations are a thing that exists. I'd imagine there are some likely fans fluent enough in English (or one of the other translated languages) that they'd be able to translate the game for the sake of their fellow countrymen. All that's left after that is whether or not they have the will to do it. -

Save scumming
AGX-17 replied to HardRains's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
They already used a viable alternative in NV. Besides, isn't it fundamentally your own problem if you can't resist the urge to savescum? -
I don't see why you can't devastate your foes with mighty pelvic thrusts. Mages might as well fire projectiles from their groins, it's all a power-trip fantasy anyway.

new player wants to play
AGX-17 replied to casius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't understand the appeal of beta access. I'd rather have the finished product and deal with the minimum possible bugs than to be an unpaid QA tester. It's a clever scheme on the economic front, but I'm not looking to give away my time and labor for free unless it'll pad my résumé. Yes, that is the only appeal volunteerism has for me. -
Rum. Possibly some sort of solid food. Only time will tell.

Haven't played B:I in a while, learned the hard way that the difficulty level is not starting at the basics. Looking forward to freezing things again, sort of. It wasn't THAT effective in Bioshock, but still... I like freezing things solid. Going to solo Persona 4 Golden with Kaguya-hime for ****s and/or giggles. Will probably be a disaster (even with Null Fire.) As opposed to soloing with Alice w/ Spellmaster, in which case KILL ALL THE THINGS. My own private wonderland. Touhou Kishinjou. Tsukumogami are more dangerous than their reputation implies.

I don't know if there's a new game plus, if there is, that would explain why there are frequent checks you can't possibly pass early on. "Yielding" is what gives a boost to social stuff, but "Depressed" seems to be a blanket penalty. Anyway, that and Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea.

The parodies of other games, like the psuedo-16 bit sidescrolling brawler are what makes the game great. I still feel The Third was the best of the series. Like Streets of Rage? If so i'm very much looking forward to it. Think i'll have to acquire the third game, appreciate the recommendation. Yeah, it's called Saints of Rage. Don't watch if you don't want to be spoiled. I was impressed by the fact that they came up with a shader to make the normal 3D game content look like a 16-bit era game.

I'd feel sorry for them, being victims of a severe mental illness, if they weren't so eager to share intimate details of their fetish with anyone and everyone who is not comatose.

No, bad luck is encountering furries in any aspect of human life. Same goes for bronys. I remember my first day at university, I saw a rotund female wearing a velvet cape. I thought that was bad. I reassessed my opinion after seeing a guy with a picture of his fursona safety-pinned to his jacket with some sort of fake animal ears attached to the hood. The latest offense is that there's a brony with rainbow-dyed hair who exclusively wears MLP T-shirts and carries a MLP backpack wandering around campus while I wait for my microbiology lecture. Speaking of which, the lab's only worth 30% of the final grade even though missing more than two gets an automatic F. Attendance/participation are only worth 5 out of that 30. Insert Jerry Seinfeld reaction here.

Tried out DotA2 for the first time, got called a "n****r" as soon as I joined a game, multiple times, uninstalled. The parodies of other games, like the psuedo-16 bit sidescrolling brawler are what makes the game great. I still feel The Third was the best of the series.
