I need to get this but expect an i7 processor, 6GB DDR3 ram and a HD5870 vid card wont be able to handle it.

There's been some concern that it's not gritty enough in it's art style. Looks good to me, still a long way from final (can't remember the state mentioned at first video release) but referring to that vid.

I started out as a console player when I was a kid - eventually getting into PC because of Syndicate Wars as a teenager. Hopefully console titles can do the same for the current old school CRPG games. Hard not to use the phrase 'reach a wider audience' there, phrase has become synonymous with AAA bad publishing.

I'm confused by this statement - are you saying that people who voted to leave the EU are either racist, or are voting for other reasons (such as protecting their economy) and are now reaping what they have sown with tension rising between communities? Thereby being responsible for the actions of racists because of their vote?. How's it going for you in Sweden? I hear there are now roughly 50 or so 'no-go' areas there where the police are afraid to patrol, need to escort ambulances, and wear bullit proof vests while doing so. Assuming you are white (and clearly not a racist) I expect you would have no trouble walking through these areas with female family/friends? I'm sure they'd have no trouble in summer western clothing, mixing with the locals, proving they arn't racist. The obligatory disclaimer: I'm a former teacher who dedicated his life (successfully) for 5 years to inclusion and diversity, working with adults from all walks of life, and from every corner of the globe.

Camera was #1 on the list for me. I've only replayed DA:O 3 times as every time I think about it I get that negative feel about the camera. But then along came Siege of Dragonspear, and I realized just how many games I have in my library (with the IE games at the top of the list) that just simply made you feel welcome in the world. It's like an unspoken thing between developer and player similiar to a host and guest. Siege of Dragonspear failed utterly at that, and I'd take a crap camera over that specific failure any day.

Games you want that'll likely never exist
Chippy replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
An oriental, Shogun Total War type RPG with all of the climbing, and height advantages that Total War 2 provided. A Transformers RPG incorporating the millions of years of history that IP has. Isometric would be good, but I'd settle for the Fall of Cybertron Camera. A Mechwarrior RPG with a mercenaries campaign, featuring a world and company economy, as well as a comprehensive salvage system and R&D system similiar to Syndicate Wars.. First person for your controlled mech, and isometic for multiple lance control. Another chapter in Baldurs Gate with Milo Yiannopoulos as the protagonist. -
How Much Freedom of Expression/Speech in Tyranny?
Chippy replied to Chippy's topic in Computer and Console
I just wonder what the tone will be. If it takes itself too seriously I can see some problems. I'd prefer something like this: "Ok folks, another village ahead. Feel free to rape, torture and murder at your discretion. Smitty's got the portable forge to set up so it'll be awhile before the red hot pokers are a-go, breakfasts can be fried, and sausage wagging can begin...now, Sharon; while I applaude you imagination, that old geezer -Harold was it?- that you put into our trebuchet and launched into the last castle we sacked, actually went through a window and killed the commanders daughter - so while I'm sure he died happy, you my dear, shall not." Maybe a bit too Stephen Fry, but you get the idea. -
I couldn't decide what to vote. I'd like to see if all that money that was going over to Brussels will find it's way back to the benefit of the taxpayer over the next few years. It was on the news the other day that Britain will not be "rewarded" for leaving the EU in future negotiations. I have considered living elsewhere in the world, but even read an article that the government wants to tax British citizens to the height of British tax irrespective of where they live in the world - they just top it up, or you don't pay anything if it's higher. So it will be interesting to see if things improve for the working class taxpayer.

I don't know how long it's been since POE's release, but I still haven't had the time to play it - I just squeezed in and breezed through W2, and I'll probably leave TTON until some holiday time late next year. I donated $1000 to each of these, and will support Tyranny when it comes out, but I still need to play through the IE games again (which I haven't done in over 5 years). The thing is that SOD exposed me to the SJW - to the threat this group has on freedom of speech and expression. Subsequently to Gamergate, Milo Yiannopoulos and all the great youtube personalities that are forces of rationality. The point being that Tyranny will really have to do something to grab my attention. It's gonna have to have complete freedom of expression to do what it has been marketed as, or I doubt I'll even bother with it for at least another 3 years. But more importantly I hope it pushes the boundaries of artistic expression and freedom of speech in an engaging adult > adult manner without any childishness or 'controlling parent' type politics. Maybe then the most least interesting title on the radar will become something actually engaging. I'm not trying to start a war here (I don't have the ****ing time), but am interested to know if gamers think Tyranny might be held back in some way by ... all the crap that seems to have found it's way into my hobby without me noticing.

So I'm initially starting up my very first playthrough of POE, and the ego kicks in with sticking it on hard because I'm a veteran of IE games, but also because I'm a veteran of games, I'd like to know exactly what that means... Poop tonnes of HP, turning bosses into gods with Godzilla familiars, boosting their stats, doubling their damage output, and all that. Improved AI I can reason through, and more enemies per map is great, but if any of the above is in - I'm pretty happy leaving it on with normal. Thanks.

It's a village-y place by Epping Forest in England, I had the British Telecom guy come out (don't use them they're crap - messed up everything) and he said the supply is almost 6km from the cabinet, he's only heard of most being 3-4km or so. I expect it's down to the privately owned land and farmers unwilling to lose the square area required for mainetnance of underground services, or masts and towers - so the telephone supply cables just spannnnnn these huge distances. Have heard the council might makes some changes, but they might prioritize actual street lights first - people never believe me when I say it can get almost pitch black at 4pm during the winter. I wouldn't relly be able to use a friend - I'm still firmly in the closet about being a gamer, I'd be better of telling my mates I've got 8-10gb of pornography to download. They should start a support group for people in my situation.

Hi folks, So I've yet to play POE. I've been busy building a house since it;s release and need to put aside some quality time for it. Just looked at the total gigabites of download (seems about 10gb). Now I know some asshat at microsoft said that unless you live on a submarine, everyone should have broadband in this day and age;- well I don't, and I live in a posh area. So just wondering if the days are gone where you buy the DVD, and then download the patch... I did a quick search for the white march 1/2 and it seems Amazon sell the digital code for steam. 10 Gigs is gonna take me appox as long as ... however long it's been since tha game was released. My average speed is 20kbs/sec. I actually get estimated download times in excess of weeks and months before most just give up and go blank. Just thought I'd put this out there. I'd reply to anyone if they respond (with mockery I expect) but Ican't be bothered to wait for the forum to load.

April Box Shipping UK?

Which email worked dor you? I was redirected to this one: paradox.zendesk.com And have been dealing with this gentleman: EDITED (publishing director) who has been very professional and kind enough to issue me with a replacement for all missing goods, and is now probably pissed off that I just put his email out there. In all honesty, I've had a parcel form a solicitor and an insurance company go missing within the same time frame and am pretty sure it's an issue with sticky fingured postmen/women, or that I'm in a hard to find house - but what I'm suspicious of, and I can prove... The hat gets tipped to Paradox/Obsidian though. Cant EDIT: for the time being, I would suggest going through the proper channels. If the same person at the email I removed helps you, it should be no big issue to go through Paradox and find the same help from the same person. -
April Box Shipping UK?
Chippy replied to Chippy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Paradox responded today and are looking into it - they tracked the order through the Hermes website which stated it was delivered to my porch. Considering my letterbox will just about fit the average letter through - it's about 1&1/2" x 8" or so, I doubt the box fitted. Will wait and see. -

Recieved disc today, arrived by Royal Mail. No response from Paradox. All associated numbers related to tracking (and every number provided by Paradox through their emails fail to register anything with Hermes (the delivery company) and their tracking system - who specifically state they will not respond to private customers on their website and request you contact the company directly from which your parcel was purchased. Paradox have two emails on their contact page, relating to PR and the Webshop - which I'm betting means no-one's really gonna read my request and take it upon themselves to track my order. So it's either late, or I'm stuffed. I would have been prepared to spend extra to have either a special delivery or registered mail (based on size and weight for everything) even if it meant waiting several more months for everything in one go. If anyone from Obsidian is reading this, I think it's a valid option for future Kickstarter's. -

Hi, Been pretty much in the same situation as you. I just got the info for my discs being shipped, and since they claimed it would complete my order, I started scanning back and found a similar email from eay back when. I'm in the same boat, no swag here, either. No notes about attempted deliveries, no tracking, no nothing. Helpfully the paradox support page doesn't feature poe, so I can't progress much there, either. I recieved an email today from paradox stating the disc will be delivered between 12th > 15th June, but not replying to the email I sent them querying where the tracking number was to track the order (the first order of box, etc) through the Hermes delivery company. I'll update this if they reply. -
Hi, I'm in the middle of refurbishing a house for my family, so no time for gaming, staying in the loop and all that - and was sent notifcation of physical shipment of box, T-shirt etc to arrive late April, but have yet to recieve anything - anyone else in the UK got their swag yet, or has there been a delay?. Much appreciated.

Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Chippy replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I moved a few months ago, so have had no time to follow anything, but assuming I had the time (with the exception of a life threatening problem) and being 100% behind Obsidian (fanboy ) I'd still choose the solution that left them with funds in the company bank account. That's the point in being a backer and following developers you trust through Kickstarter isn't it?. It is for me anyway. -
"But it was made for us."
Chippy replied to Bryy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
For me this is rooted in where I expected games to go after the IE games. They went downhill IMO, so give those responsible the Kickstarter chance to continue that incline, and input what advances have been made in the past 15 years and how they might improve PE - but ultimately I'm not a game designer and it should be up to those that have made a craft out of it to make the decisions. If money and time were infinite I expect a lot of this stuff could be solved with difficulty and game settings. Maybe.- 340 replies

Age has yet to be handled well (if at all) in games. The best example of ageing heroes finding their place in the world was presented for me in Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty. I strongly recommend anyone capable of human emotion read those books, or watch the series. So with respect to a CRPG, I'd like to play a game where my character has been physically and mentally moulded by their years, and Torment/Arcanum(background) style has interactions with the world based on those experiences. Similiar to what InXile might be planning for Wasteland 2 - let's say my character has served time, then I meet a notable character that was a prison warden at a notoriously corrupt prison. If my character can eat cake at whim, that'd be great too.

Rouge jokes still going strong?. I would have thought ten years ago we'd be making jokes about save vs indigestion before backstabbing an enemy and failing stealth... I should be happy the incline has started with POE though.

The only game I've played where it worked for me was Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, it was realistic and funny at the same time. Explosions, hurling enemies from castle ramparts, etc. Also: Severance Blade of Darkness was pretty good for an older game. One thing I think this does is add a certain style to the game - it tends to become more anime (like the animations in Dragon Age 2), or 80's action movie, (add other comparison here) etc. It can be fun though. If it adds a mechanic to the game, even better. Like Assassins Creed having you kill an enemy, they fall in a guard patrol route...

Common pitfalls of CRPG games to avoid
Chippy replied to TrashMan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah, if someone does not grasp the meaning of percentage... ...Then clearly they don't understand the mechanics of the game...?
