You need to investigate this one a little more. Are you sure the Ogre was responsible? If the ogre was responsible you need to find out if she is still alive or not. Maybe you should track down the ogre... They're far from impossible. Maybe check out the second impressions thread for some combat tips. Go adventuring. * I should still be able to talk to him and tell him what I've heard. * Of course they're not impossible. But it's extremely tedious for an unrewarding trash encounter. * Yeah I'll go adventuring so I can buy this Fine Sword with 0.1% more damage.

I've proposed a multi-stage fatigue system instead of a system with two float values. Say some dudes do mortal kombat. One dude gets knocked out (0 hp). Combat is over and the knocked out dude rises, and is afflicted by fatigue. -25% to all attributes, or whatever. If the dude is knocked out again, he could gain something like an additional -15% penalty. And again, and again, until he is un-revivable. Difficulty could affect this. On normal, maybe you could only be knocked out 2 times before permanent death. Or Expert, or whatever. This could go hand in hand with a BG-like sleep/rest system. Stamina/Health system just doesn't work for me.

I see you also got ****ed by the "healing no longer aoe" change. (I like that change tho, but tooltip hasn't been changed to reflect it).

About stamina/health and an idea how to fix it
Zed replied to Zwiebelchen's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
best way to fix it would be to only have one health bar and add a three-stage fatigue system or something, like in IE. instead of "a little tired", "tired" and "dead tired", we could have "fatigued", "heavily fatigues" and "dead". so basically the fatigue that we know from IE games, except it would be applied when knocked down in battle. if already fatigued and knocked down in battle again, you deeeed. islam infinity engine has all the answers. -
BUGS: I could pick Weapon Specialty: Soldier twice when leveling up, only one set of Soldier Weapopn bonus show in char sheet. I couldn't pick talents from last level if I had picked something else. Intended? Red circles under dead mobs doesn't immediately disappear, causing some confusion when pausing for swapping targets. A.I. still bonkers with characters getting stuck in running animation in the melee frenzy. Pulled a pack with a fireball. The enemies hit by the ball stayed, and two wood beetles attacked instead. Whaaurt? WEIRD: Couldn't tell the Lord about his daughter after I had found out an Ogre had snatched her from the dyers or whomever that is in the mill-like building. There are white shields laying on the ground everywhere? Things can be inspected by clicking on the object (i.e. around the icon), but transition points can't - you must click on the icon. Would be nice to just click on the door, staircase etc. Would also be nice to hide these icons in expert mode. Did you remove AoE healing? Tooltip still says it's AoE, but the effect was single-target (using the BB priest). I much prefer single-target, but this was a little confusing. RE: new shop prices. Things are still impossibly expensive. **** stuff like "fine whatever" cost more than everything then what I had selling everything I could find in the town. GENERAL: Combat still too chaotic and fast and confusing. A.I. still weirding out. Stone beetles ****ing impossible to kill even on normal/expert. They would just "glide" past all my dudes and kill the wizard no matter what I did, and then take no damage from my weapon attacks. Priest couldn't keep up the healing. Maybe do-able if you added pre-buffing like the IE games I was actually typing this up as I was playing but I can't be bothered to play anymore, combat is just tedious as it is Cut encounters in half and give them exp on kill.

this is a great case of 'they should just do it like in IE and not **** around.' at that note remove the zoom too and fix the camera.

I just want to be able to play the game.

there's barely anything to complain about in the current UI. it's just very good as it is! once you fill it out with the chunky bits, it's gonna be great. there's just one exception: bad readability, feels repetitive as it scrolls, obvious repetitive patterns, and in general not very attractive. I think a lighter parchment or maybe a cloth texture would make a better background. that's all, peace y'all.

The picture hides half the face which makes it a pretty poor portrait. Looking at something in an angle could reflect personailty, but not in this case. It just obscures. The quality is great tho. But is it even a portrait? Could be concept art, or something else?

Update #76: Music in Pillars of Eternity
Zed replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Do you play guitars, Justin? I love accoustic guitar-driven music like in Diablo for instance, and would love to hear music like that in games again. I posted this track on the codex but I'll leave it here too cuz it's so good.- 221 replies

asian mmorpg was already stretching it, but obsidian broke the RPG niche with this title, which is a little sad. I'm sure they'll come up with great games in the future, but this isn't a game for their audience and I guess they know that. oh well.

The Case for Romance.
Zed replied to NanoPaladin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Just say you just want some hot interracial fantasy sex. No-one will think worse of you. I mean, what's wrong with hot interracial fantasy sex? Where would leading CRPG development studio Bioware be without it? I think it's best when it's based on a point-relationship system. That way anyone can get to the good stuff, even if they don't give a crap about reading. There should also be achievements when activating sex scenes. Also don't forget the potential for DLC based solely around players hoping to finally shag that one tsundere NPC follower. Take notes, Sawyer. -
No romances confirmed
Zed replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Who cares about NPC romances. What matters are the bothels with red plastic couches and special interest service. The game must have those. Docks districts ftw. -
game narrator / chapters
Zed replied to agris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm hoping for a croaky old man as narrator. It's been a while since I last heard an old man narrator. Everybody seems to go for young women nowdays (to make up for the lack of presence of women in key roles perhaps?). IWD2, LOTR, Diablo 3. Or... *awesome idea*... have more than one narrator. Have the narration being two people telling the story. Squabbling about "what really happened" etc. *chapter II intro* "The adventurers set out to find the cause of-" "Hey, aren't you forgetting something?" "Oh? Oh yes. The old crone. First they met the old crone." "The old crone of the swamp. There are many stories surrounding her." "Luckily, our adventurers dealt with her. No?" "Well, as I remember it-" *chapter II begins* Since the game will probably have ending slides, these two narrators could take turns talking about the endings too, so it doesn't sound too repetitive. IWDII had the worst narration of all IE games. Completely uninteresting (well the plot of the game was rather uninteresting to begin with), completely void of character. Completely stale. Uncle Oswald this, Uncle Oswald that (whooo caaares about youuur uncleeeeeeeeeeeee). Then again I very much dislike IWDII in general. -
Update #70: New Year Project Update
Zed replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
this was super-annoying in the IWDs in particular (in BG it was mostly boots of speed but I never used those). one solution: only have +movement speed take effect in single-selection. another: do not have +movement speed :D- 491 replies
